Great for fantastic coffee and a morning or afternoon of coffee shop studying! I love the open space, natural light through the glass wall, and big tables for studying. The WiFi works well. I didn't see any outlets when I took a quick look around, but I read the other reviews and came with a fully charged laptop. Bring a sweater or light jacket when it's chilly out -- when people open the door, the cold wind rushes in very easily. It makes the hot coffee more enjoyable, but it also makes you cold when the coffee's gone. The noise level is moderate/loud on the weekends, but I work just fine with background noise and found it to be a nice way to stay awake after a heavy lunch across the street at Gourmet Kingdom. The sign for the place isn't very obvious, but Google Maps is accurate. It's right next to Cat's Cradle. There is a parking lot available in front, although it does seem pretty full -- not sure how hard it usually is to find parking. It's a shame to even call himself a barista because he has no knowledge nor morals to even deal with clients. Even for free I wouldn't go. I like Gray Squirrel. Really good coffee, but it's not my favorite coffee shop in the area. Overall, this is somewhere I would meet people or stop to pick up something on my way to work, but I probably will not work or study here in the future. The interior is nice. It feels bright and open. The modern feel did not create a welcoming or cozy environment though. There's an assortment of tables with stools and some bleachers (read: seating not comfortable for long periods of time). I didn't notice many outlets, so be sure your laptop is charged if you're planning on using it. I ordered an Americano, and it was well-made. They asked if I wanted it tall with more water or short with less, which I appreciated. I chose tall since I was there for a while, and it was very smooth. I've been trying to explore and Yelping away with finding the right coffee shop I can read and do work at. I stumbled upon this, and totally fell in love! They have tons of seating inside along with wifi and amazing coffee! I tried their maple iced coffee and it was really good. Just as a disclaimer they don't have any vanilla syrup but do have maple as a substitute. Ample of parking right next to the shop. After being in Australia and their crazy coffee culture, this is the first place where the coffee matched the quality I had overseas. My daughter and I stopped by today and we thought it was good. The person who served us was extremely helpful, and not pretentious in that "I'm a cool barista" sort of way. My daughter had an iced coffee, and I had the maple latte. My maple latte was so smooth and just sweet enough without a hint of that artificial flavor you sometimes get at coffee places. The one thing I appreciated the most though? No tip jar, and no option to leave a tip when paying by card. This is a great new location! The coffee and lattes here are excellent. Be sure to try their almond milk latte - it is like no other. Last time I went, I tried the maple latte and it was perfectly smooth and not-too-sweet, exactly how I like it In terms of seating and study space: There are some small tables and many long, extended tables. On a different side, there are wooden bleachers. I felt like the former caters more to the grad student or more adult coffee shop go-er while the bleachers have a more hipster, undergrad appeal. The chairs are all barstools. For me, that automatically meant that this would be a coffee shop I'd visit to meet up friends or to work, but for only short periods of time. Not a work all day spot. Having backrest has been important when I'm hunched over working on my computer. I suppose you could get a table that is along the wall and lean back on that, too. This is where I come and study if I want to be in Carrboro and later walk around the area. It's a beautiful coffee shop with minimalist decoration where you can enjoy how everything is arranged. They have parking around but sometimes it gets busy and you have to park either in the garage or in the streets. Either way, once you find a parking space, you can walk in and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or pastry. They do not have food just pastries and coffee beverages. There is enough space for many people to study and if inside is busy there is always outside seating area. Love the feel of this place and their coffee is delicious. read more

Good craft coffee, long wait, expensive. $1 extra for oat milk which is to be expected. But the drinks are already pricey. I like the vibe inside, open/airy feel to it. I think I am spoiled by the abundance of craft coffee scene in Charlotte, NC and so I recognize that a craft coffee shop in Chapel Hill where there is far less competition, less coffee shops means a higher price point. My maple latte was excellent though and a perfect temperature. I just would be broke if I had that weekly. I've been twice and plan to return when i visit chapel hill. Was visiting Chapel Hill and found this place via Yelp. Super impressed by the craft roasted coffee (some of the best I've had) and friendly staff. I especially loved that they are part of the Orange County Living Wage association which means that there isn't the push for tips and that they pay their employees enough to actually live on (Look up the organization, it's pretty cool). Prices were a bit higher than most coffee shops due to the fact that they don't take tips (per above) but it makes up for it with the quality coffee and cool vibe. It was so good I bought a bag to bring home. As for space, there are plenty of tables to sit and chill or open up a lap top. read more

Location tip: the sign outside is Yester Years, and it's snuggled right between Amante and Cat's Cradle (plenty of parking) True coffee lovers will thoroughly enjoy this coffee shop. There are about a dozen different beverage options to choose from so it's a bit more limited than most other places, but the quality is superb. I enjoyed an almond milk latte (they do not have soy milk) with the visually satisfying latte art. I might try the Con Panna next time--espresso with whipped cream. There are only a few pastries to choose from, and they also offer toast w/butter. Not sure about their teas, but I'm pretty sure this place is mainly focused on coffee. Seating: plenty of wooden tables and chairs to share with friends or strangers. There's a corner with a few small couches and table. There's also a long, narrow wooden bar/counter along a wall for just drinks. Dislikes: I could only find one outlet behind the couch which is inconvenient for me to do work on my laptop. So I suggest to come with a fully charged laptop or bring a book. Plus, it was freezing inside--albeit it is winter. I tried the mocha latte with whipped cream and it was delicious! I'm not a big coffee person so that says something. :) Also, it's a great place to study! Pretty reliable WiFi and lots of tables. Tables are pretty big so it's nice to be able to spread stuff out. Only downsides are that it can get a little crowded and sometimes there isn't any open areas on busy days & there aren't a lot of plugs so those with laptops, make sure you come with a full battery. To start, the coffee and space is a 3-3.5 for me, but they get extra points for committing to Orange County Living Wage. I do enjoy the hot coffee drinks, which I've sampled many of. But one of the first drinks I ever had here and loved sooo much, the maple latte, is frustratingly inconsistent. Sometimes it's brimming with buttery, maple-y flavor that will immediately transport you to a crisp October day, and sometimes its indistinguishable from a plain old latte. Additionally, the chai is a bit spicy for my taste. The cookies are quite good. I always try to grab a molasses cookie when I stop by. Unlike most places in the area, parking is very convenient in the large lot in front of Cat's Cradle. The atmosphere is a bit plain, but they do have a few large tables with lots of outlets. There is a strange area up front by the window that has large wooden steps almost? They're pretty uncomfortable to sit on so I don't really get it. Some nice furniture would be so lovely here with the big picture window. The seating area out front is my favorite spot. It's just shaded enough and is perfect for quite conversations and people watching. read more
