Experience: I stopped by the food truck during First Friday on Abbot Kinney. After walking for some…read moreminutes on AK, I saw this food truck in front of MedMen. A hot dog sounded like a great way to start the night. A hot dog is one of those foods that I tend to have when I travel, not on purpose, it just sort of happens. Just last month I was in Brazil, and tried their version of a street dog in Sao Paulo, it was nothing like a Costco hot dog, which I love, but tasty. So I was curious to try a Venezuelan street dog. Food: I ordered the classic Venezuelan street dog. What stood out to me was the size of the hot dog, it was pretty small. It didn't taste like an American Costco beefy dog, it was lighter in taste. That could be because it's fresh and made from a specific ingredient or animal versus tons of grounded up things. Next was the bread, it wasn't in a typical hot dog bun, it was more like a thick slice of brioche bread, it was good and different. Next, it was topped off with tons of mini French fries and shredded cheese. I don't recall the condiments, but I think it was mayo perhaps. The downside was I pretty much bit into mostly bread and fries with each bite. The hot dog was so small, I would have liked a larger thicker chunk. This was my first time trying a Venezuelan street dog, so I don't have much to base it off of except for this specific time. I feel that it has room for improvement. Customer Service: Nice, friendly, quick service. Verdict: There are other items on the menu that looked appealing. Overall it was a good tasty street dog, not the best I've had, but it was enjoyable. Given the price paid, I would have liked a hot dog bigger than what I received. If I go to First Friday again, maybe I'll give it a second chance.

Also tried the passion fruit juice. The whole family loved it! They were welcoming and helped my son to complete his project on Haiti with additional cultural knowledge.

So glad that they have a brick and mortar. Yes it's in DTLA and the area may scare away some. Think Cara Cara, Perch and even neighborhood surrounding Bottega Louie in their infancy in LA That being said you are doing yourself a major disservice if you don't stop by and order GREAT Haitian food. What sets Haitian food apart from Caribbean food as a whole are the combination of spices and delectable flavors. Black Mushroom Rice (Djon Djon). Griot (Fried. Pork chunks). Think Cuban Masitas but with much more flavor Banan Peze (Fried Plantains. But with more flavor than the tostones you may be used to) The food here is well prepared and authentically Haitian. You want good Caribbean food come here. No lie. It's located in an historic building. Original, yes old red leather seats, vintage ceiling fans as well as old wooden tables. But it provides a charm and a window to the heyday of the area. We had our food to go and were not disappointed when we arrived home to finally sample it Salmon, Griot, Pate, "Saus Pois Avec Du Riz Blanc" (Beans cooked to a sauce with white rice) another Delicacy If you call yourself a foody take the time to stop by. You won't be disappointed
