Love this place its fireeee, the gallo pinto has pieces of asada in it very very good. The Carne asada plate has the gallo pinto salad the pickled onions chilero, big o piece of fried cheese yummy yummy tajadas maduros sweet plantains and of course the Carne asada. The mixta plate is huge it includes chicken and pork also. The cacao is sweet and concentrated I took it home and watered it down a bit and made two portions out of it. The lines get long quick. But so Worth it they set up at 5pm Thursday thru Sunday. Thursday and Fridays are easier lines than the weekends. But like I said worth it. The people are nice also. Loved it if you want to try Nicaraguan food go here. Enjoy

    That's a big fritanga!

Someone told my boyfriend (he's from Nicaragua) about this spot. It's a bit far from us, but we were nearby yesterday and decided to finally try it! Happy we did. The portions are pretty big! Definitely worth the price. We both got fritanga de asada. And some enchiladas. One cacao that was very yummy. I do wish they had a menu to make ordering easier, or maybe I just didn't see one posted. The chilero is ufff!! Spicy & good! The beef had that delicious Nicaraguan sazón. Only thing is that the maduro from my fritanga needed more cooking or maybe it just wasn't ready yet. But the staff is nice & they helped us find a spot to sit & eat. Definitely recommend.

    Ahí les dejo la pista!!!!

Best fritanga in LA county! I love this place, I go almost every weekend. They are so friendly, is always nice to go there. The food is delicious, the pitaya (dragon fruit) juice is soooo good, not to mention the carne asada, definitely my favorite!

En ingles- (yo no puede escribir en Espanol bien) , entonces, ingles!…read more The food here is awesome! Our family is half Nicaraguan and half German-Spanish. We grew up eating grandma's Nicaraguan dinners and this is as close as you'll find to five star fabulously prepared Nicaragua meals. I ordered my favorite, which is Lengua con tomates y gallo Pinto. It's sooo good. My mom ordered pescado, my gringa wife ordered pollo y carne, and my brother ordered steak con maduros, Fritos y papas.... They even have cacao y pinol. All sandy n grainy like grandma made. We have been to the few other Nicaraguan restaurants around. One over by Loyola high school off Olympic, funky location, difficult to get into. The Gallo Pinto in Azusa, which is an easier location to get into with a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican food. And now we have found this location. And after enjoying all three, I will tell you that this food wise and service wise is the most authentic and flavorful choice. It is five star of Nicaragua food preparation. The only drawback is it's location, nothing you could do about that. My mom's in a wheelchair makes it a little bit challenging to get in because it's not ADA friendly. So plan ahead, use the bathroom before you get there. And be ready for one of the best Nicaragua dinners in the greater Los Angeles area.

The counter sells various goods and clothing. Costillas de cerdo frito: The pork ribs are sliced horizontally so there are round sections of bone in the long strips of crispy flavorful meat. Gallo pinto is at the core of the plate with red beans and rice cooked together with onions. The rice is firm and buttery. The beans are tender. You can also have them served separately. The fried plantains are sweet and caramelized on the outside with soft centers. The rest of the plate seems covered in a hill of crispy thin plantain chips. There's a triangle of fried cheese - tart, firm, and crumbly. Take the pitcher on the table and pour out some of the hot sauce. It is packed with diced pickled onions with a vinegary sauce. Nacatamales: This giant tamal is a breakfast staple typically served with a caffeinated beverage (like coffee or Coke). After unwrapping the banana leaf wrapper, the masa has an orange tint from the achiote paste. The masa is moist, soft, and gooey. Embedded in the huge masa is a grocery list of ingredients, including olives, bell peppers, rice, pork, onions, raisins, tomatoes, and potatoes. It also comes with a big soft fluffy bread roll. Parking: There is street parking.

A cozy spot that caters to the locals, and I'm pretty sure I was the only non-Spanish speaker that day lol. All the same, the ladies running the restaurant were all super kind, if a bit surprised to see me eating at their establishment. Ordered gallo pinto (small) and nacatamal, both served in generous portions (enough for leftovers). Both were really tasty, hearty and flavorful. No frills, but I enjoyed them. Not expensive at all, totaling just under $15 that gave me two meals! Definitely try Nicaraguan food in your lifetime!

However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. Everything else was good, but authentic, freshly made chicharrón would make a huge difference and better match the quality of the rest of the food. I hope this is something the restaurant can improve on because the potential is definitely there.
