In place of the Piñon pine we will have lilac to cover the space in front of privacy window of the downstairs bath . In the space where the Colorado Blue spruce was removed as way too close to the neighbor's house for their safety , emergency will put in 2 more lilacs to give a more colorful feel near the forsythia. We did not buy them today but found the exact variety we wanted. They had plenty so we will go back soon in a bigger vehicle when we are closer to the time we had decided to plant. The staff was incredibly helpful and directed us to the lilacs on a detailed printed map. Every plant we saw was in beautiful shape and it was such a colorful display across the property.

Today, 6/25 late afternoon, I was shopping with my daughter. We bought 3 trees, various perennials and chemicals. Trei, their nasty rude checker who couldn't or wouldn't say "Hello" or "Thank you". I went ahead to move the vehicle for easier loading. Even though there weren't any cars in the lot, the checker came out specifically to harass me. In his big boy nasty voice, he told me to move my vehicle. I was in complete shock, and thought he was kidding. I asked why? In a violent threatening tone he said "MOVE IT!" He told me he was the manager. Maybe they'd not need to spend so much on advertising, if they weren't driving us off. The only satisfaction will be posting my review until my crippled hands ache. I want to add. I was so looking forward to this trip. I got a nurse to watch Ron. My daughter and I have enjoyed Caesar, Heather and the previous checkers and garden workers over the years. Caesar's been a superstar, packing plants tight so we'd get it in one trip. Three years ago our favorite checker gave us a couple samples of Plant-tone for a memorial garden we were planting. Not a big deal, but a kindness I remembered. Not a car in the lot. I get it now. Smart folks were at Tagawa paradise or......fill in the blank. Hey Trei, you are small and petty. Misogyny and ageism are evil. Thumbs up this so they know we all want to be treated like humans.

We planted the flowers after they sat for a few days and they're growing like crazy! The staff was super helpful while we were shopping, helping us find stuff and get a box to take the plants home safely. Not a huge shop but so many plants from flowers to trees. There were seeds all on the wall inside with the gardening supplies. They had a few items that would be good for gifts, they have some art, books, kitchen items, and house plants (succulents, jades, etc...). They have a cute shop with good quality product, kind staff and good value. Would recommend for plant people!

The plants don't look their best in the spring because they are dormant. So a beginner would likely dismiss these as dead plants for sale. But long-time Rocky Mountain gardeners know these dry-looking tufts will wake up and grow into healthy plants by late spring or early summer. I've bought many of my starter native plants here and they have matured and multiplied through the years. However, beginners can get lots of help and advice from staff. You need to overcome the expectation of wanting lush, green seedlings to take home. These plants are priced higher than those in big box stores, but they are worth it. They have been acclimated to the local conditions, outside of cozy greenhouses with built in sprinklers. They will settle well in your Rocky Mountain backyard.

He spent probably an hour with me answering my questions before I decided on which plants to buy. He even gave me a free crown of thorns bonsai! For the other reviews criticizing the owner, I suspect there might be some cultural and/or language differences. The owner is not a native English speaker. I didn't have any difficulties communicating with him nor did I find him off-putting, but a lot of his answers to my questions were either brief or questions asking me for more detail. He is very soft spoken and smiles a lot. Perhaps a little eccentric. He did correct me a couple of times when I was using the incorrect plant names and terminology but it was gentle and I interpreted it as a genuine attempt to provide me with more knowledge. I'd much rather he correct me than to have me calling a bonsai by the wrong name or caring for them incorrectly. He knows his trade. I very much enjoyed chatting with him. He did follow me out of the store holding his cat and chatting with me as I left. It very much felt like gesture of hospitality and respect to me. However, I could see how this could be misinterpreted. Especially if I were a woman shopping alone. The prices are similar to what I've paid at "Bonsai Creations Colorado", maybe a little cheaper, with a much larger selection, a shorter drive (from Broomfield). Be sure to call before making the drive to Longmont (really closer to Lyons) as the owner also sells his trees out of a large white van on the side of the road and might not be there on that day. The Longmont store is in a large greenhouse behind the brick and mortar store. Coming from Boulder, go straight through the intersection like your staying on 36 onto the dirt road and you'll see it on the right. I've seen his van in Loveland off I-25 and a couple other places in the mountains around Denver/Boulder. My only suggestion to the owner would be to make a web site that shows if he's going to be in his greenhouse or selling out of his van that day and where he'll be selling. He mentioned somewhere I could check, but I've yet to find it. I'll hopefully be going back sometime soon to find a Brazilian Rain tree! I'm looking forward to my next trip!
