Love them. One of best Dentist in Atlanta. They are honest and do good work. The Head dentist is fabulous. I go about 4x per year for cleaning and she did my cap that had that broken in the front of my mouth and it had been there at least 30 years it looks fabulous. They have done a couple of my caps now but I love them. I have been hoodwinked and mishandled but other dentist but I am sticking with these folks as long as they stay consistent. read more

So, they sent me to collection agency and reported it to credit bureau TWICE affecting my credit rating. I feel they are very unprofessional staff and management. I saw a few more recent reviews and saw this place got a bad wrap, but I can assure you this place has first class service. New to the area, my wife and I went booked appointments together a week in advance before coming in for routine cleaning and whatever else may be needed. The fast self checking process was fast. Paid for non covered expenses prior to the work being performed, no biggie. I think I waited 5 minutes before being seen. X Rays were taken by the hygienist, who was very courteous. She the proceeded with my cleaning. I was seen by a Doctor and we interacted well. All our interactions were as expected. All in all, I think the visit went as planned. I'll be back in 6 months. Do not come here. The tools were dirty, there was left over residual and stuff on the equipment. Equipment is outdated. The sink in the exam room was gross. Arrived at 11:25am for a 11:30am appointment and was not seen until slightly after 12:45pm. Numerous people who arrived after me were seen before I was. The staff was unprofessional and rude. Was asked by a fellow patient when my appointment was scheduled, to then get lectured about "how busy we are" by a staff member ease dropping on our convo. There is a reason appointments are readily available. After being seen for a specific purpose, staff tried to forego my routine teeth cleaning and x-ray to prevent the next patient from having to wait. To which, I responded politely and firmly that I waited an excessive amount of time and will be getting proper treatment. The front desk lady sided me and I applaud her. Original staff member wanted to get me out the door and did now show concern for anything except the next patient. From the standpoint of the dental hygienist and the doctor, extremely professional and great experience. Terribly managed business but the core practicing staff is knowledgeable. The general staff is inconsiderate and thought it was acceptable for me to have left the door at 2:00pm for an 11:30am appointment. Additionally, if you scroll the Yelp reviews, there is a potential HIPAA violation by the main dentist... Unprofessional and unacceptable by any means to share confidential patient information whatsoever and let alone on a public platform... Response to owner: I don't appreciate the dishonesty here. I definitely enjoy the dental staff because they pointed me in the right direction for my wisdom teeth removal. The lead dentist is always kind and gentle and sweet and she has never let me down during a visit. my only issue is that the staff of the front desk is always attitudinal and always has a major delay or issue. My husband cracked a tooth so I searched the web for the best dentist for the job. I would not recommend grateful dentist. My husband came home in more pain than he went in with. He also has a scrape on his gums from when the dentist accidentally cut him with a tool while working on his tooth. He also has a chemical burn on his tongue from whatever chemical they used in his mouth. While he was there trying to handle the problem he came for, they constantly tried to upsell him, instead of giving him a proper exam and allowing him to come back for additional work, they seemed to be pushing him to spend as much money as possible while they had him in the chair. They persuaded him to get more work done, for which he ended up spending hundred of dollars (on top of his insurance). All of this and they didn't even clean his teeth. If you're looking for a good dentist and a pleasant experience, please do a bit more research before choosing this location. read more

Edit 2/15/2019: to the owner, I have never become a patient from the horrible experience I had, just in the few minutes in the office- and I don't use my real name on social media, but good try!! You really need to assess how you talk to people- and NOT just your patients, everyone is human, just like you. Speaking poorly on someone else does not make you look better. It makes you seem immature and incapable of performing your primary functions as a dentist and business owner. Good luck and god speed. Wish I could give zero stars and report these people. The front office staff speak poorly of their patients when they think people aren't listening- incredibly rude and uncomfortable for the people sitting in the waiting room. Doesn't create a great environment. I also overheard Sheppard (office manager) lying to someone on the phone, saying one thing to the client and then saying something else to the front desk staff. This was my 15-20min experience in the waiting room, so I decided to see someone else. Really hate that I have to do this but, they just pissed me off. First off, I can't complain about the work done. Got a root canal and they did a great job on that. No pain at all. Couldn't afford the crown at the time so I told them I would schedule an appointment when I was ready. Even referred a few people because I was so impressed with their care. My issue came months later when I received (2) mysterious bills in the mail. The first one was for less than $50 so I just paid it. The second one was for $100 exactly. The bill was not itemized, just a fee for a flat $100. I thought this was strange because I never saw a bill from a dentist without any descriptions of what was being charged. So I called my insurance company to make sure I didn't owe anything. Insurance company informs me that they paid out $712 and I was responsible for $473 which I paid before services were rendered. I call the office and the office manager ask me my name and I give it to him. Office Manager: "Oh you had a charge for a missed appointment" Me: I never missed an appointment Office Manager: "I told you I took it off, I'm not going to argue with you" Me: Hangs up I never was not rude and my tone was calm. I was in my office at work having a pretty good day actually. I just wanted to understand why I was receiving bills in the mail months later. During my last appointment, I received a text message notifying me of my appointment and I also would receive a call from the receptionist confirming my appointment time so the whole missed appointment was B.S. Let me just say that everyone in the place was nice, attentive and friendly. Place is neat and clean. I didn't wait long for my appt. My purpose of coming in was to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I specifically searched for this before setting my appt and they stated that they do pull wisdom teeth so I set my appt. When I came in they did a cleaning. Pointed out everything else I needed done except talking about my wisdom teeth. By the end of it, i'm out about $99 for the cleaning and stated I needed to go somewhere else to get my wisdom teeth pulled -_- they claimed that no one was in the office to do it at that time and that I'd need a specialist for my specific wisdom teeth extraction. My issue is just that I wish someone would've told me that in the beginning instead of charging me for the cleaning and trying to get me to get other things done. read more

Had my first appointment here today. I talked to the hygienist and the dentist about several issues that I need to get repaired in my mouth and although my insurance is limited I did expect to receive a treatment plan for my entire mouth as discussed during my visit with the two professionals. The dental hygienist was extremely nice, and very knowledgeable. I was told that I needed crowns, bridges and/or implants and root canals on a few teeth but I wasn't given any further information. Overall my experience was good, mainly because of the hygienist. Did I receive the service I scheduled for? No, but I did receive a treatment plan for a Dental Scaling and Cleaning. I think the gentleman that was giving me the treatment plan was discouraged because my insurance yearly limit would not cover the entire cost of my plan. There are other options, such as Care Credit and this is the main reason that I wanted a complete treatment plan, so that I would have time to review and understand my total out of pocket expense for all services needed. I want to see the hygienist but I don't want to spend any time talking about any more potential work that I can't get a treatment plan for. Email I received: Hi Ashia, I have put together a plan for you deep cleaning. Your out of pocket expense is 390.00. I think it would be a better idea we talk more when you are here next time. We can discuss your further options on a bridge or implant. You will have a remaining 373.00 left to go toward more treatment this year leftover on your insurance. This was my first time coming to a different dental office other than the family practice I grew up with and it was a great experience. The wait time was alil longer than expected but I was still seen in a timely manner. I've seen the same dentist every year and yet they still didn't see what grateful dental saw in my teeth and I'm glad they caught it before it became a problem. I'm having a bad experience with this clinic's administration... went for an emergency and after that started to receive bills for x-rays that I never did... Called asking about it and Lisa told me that I had to pay for the x-rays... Asked her to send me a copy of those x-rays and she never replied... Called her and she said I didn't own anything and they made a mistake... Since them I've been trying to contact her to send me a written confirmation that I do not own anything, but she never replied...I will not be returning in the future and certainly not recommending to anyone... I called on 2/11 and talked to a person that identified herself as Lisa... if it wasn't you, the situation is even worse... I called again on 2/23 and talked for 6 minutes with a person that guess what? Also identified herself as Lisa... same voice...I've been sending emails since 2/16... the reason I started contacting only in February is because this is when I received the wrongful invoice...I'm posting this review just after 4 months because this is the time I've been trying to get an response from you... I was not going to leave a Yelp review, but due to the unpleasant response I received on Google, I will do. I did not have a pleasant experience. Upon first arriving and signing in, I witnessed Lisa and her brother arguing and having a hissy fit in front of the office. She proceeds to provide my cleaning, which was uncomfortable due to her use of the dental equipment. After my cleaning, I was rushed out of the door without getting my main concern addressed which was the reason I initially made the appointment. Luckily the Dr. was to see my anway and better addressed my concerns. I then waited 25 minutes for the financial discussion of my future visits due to being an out of pocket patient. I am appalled at the way this company talks to people and handles their business. I had an issue with scheduling and was talked to very inappropriately by the receptionist. When I tried to explain - calmly, that the website did not state that information, he responded "Well what do you want me to do, come in and get your appointment for free?" My concern didn't have anything to do with money, so why that was brought up is beyond me? From there I spoke with a supervisor who seemed pleasant, but really didn't listen to my concerns. Instead, she told me a lot about them being short-staffed and insurance (assuming I didn't know about it). Again, information that wasn't relevant, therefore confirming that she wasn't listening. I could barely get a word in without her telling me how I should be more understanding of the fact that she's had to hire people who are not well-trained. I get that it's been hard for companies, but it has also been hard on as consumers and that doesn't excuse poor customer service. From there, the supervisor got very defensive when I asked about filing a grievance. She then proceeded to also get extremely rude and even insulated I had a problem, before hanging up on me. I never raised my voice at all and was cut off several times during our discussions. She even kept saying "I'm sorry to keep cutting you off". First of all it is my right to file a grievance for whatever issue I feel necessary. I can ask for that information anytime. The fact that the supervisor was so defensive about me even asking about how to file a grievance and insisting that I had a problem because I asked is completely unprofessional. Again I have that right. My goal was not to in the words of the supervisor there "to drag" your company, IF in fact I did chose to file a grievance, it would be to make you aware so that you could improve. In the future, please try to listen to the concerns of people before attacking them for having them. "Good Day". * Just in case this review tries to get discredited by saying "we don't have someone by your name on file as a patient": #1: You cannot verify whether I was or wasn't due to HIPAA #2: This would've been our first appointment #3 I don't use my personal name for privacy reasons and I refrained from using personal names in my review for the same reason. I have been a patient here for a couple of years, but I would not do more than a general cleaning here. I went in for fillings, which later led to the worst toothache pain I have felt in my life. I honestly feel like a victim from the care I received from this office. It was so bad I had to go to a Specialist to fix my teeth after they worked on it. And their staff has gotten worse over the years as well. I was met with rude, insensitive, uncaring staff from the office manager to any dentist other than the owner. One dentist they had that do my fillings did not even say "hello" to me. He stuck needles in me without warning and did not even tell me he was finished. I had to ask the assistant if he was even done. When I complained, they said "that's just how he is". To no surprise, the tooth he worked on was the same tooth that just so happened to have a damaged nerve, which I believe he caused. Before that point, I explained to the office that I was having extreme tooth sensitivity and they kept saying "it will get better with time". It did not, and when my nerve died, they couldn't even figure it out. I was sent to a Specialist, who had to solve what I believe this office caused. Following that, I experienced billing mistakes from their front desk, complete disrespect from their office manager who continuously cut me off when communicating with her, and ultimately the search for a new dentist. read more

First of all, the hygenists, Dr. Piccaro and most of the office staff have been nice and attentive. My review pertains to 2 particular events and general observations of the office. The first event had to do with an estimate for extensive work I wanted to have done by Dr. Piccaro. I had to wait and call them again in order to get them to resend me an estimate. Their office manager, Sheppard, was too busy with computer problems to send it back out to me. The second event was an erronious deductable charge for an office visit. My wife added me to her insurance. My first visit on this insurance was earlier this year. Basic office visit. The person at the desk doing the checking in, charged me $50 by mistake for the visit as "required by my insurance." Now keep in mind that my wife had been coming here for 1 year without this same charge on the same insurance. Also this person, don't know her name, simply tells you to "sit down" when you come to the office. Not very pleasant. So, I go home and tell my wife about the charge and she says this was incorrect. I call the dental office and speak to the person, "who is in charge of this." She says she will check into the charge. Doesn't say "sorry" for inconvenience or anything. She leaves a message saying, "I WILL BE CREDITED." I wait approximately 1 week. Nothing. I send a text asking when the credit will appear. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I call credit card company to dispute charge and they advise to wait another week for possible transaction to take place. I wait 6 days and still NO REPLY or action on credit. Today, I got credit from credit card company. I don't know if they are incompetent or don't care. Whatever the reason, I am done with them. I found another dentist closer and hope she will be better. Lastly, the office is EXTREMELY NOISY!!! I have never been to such an environment for an "office!" "Open concept. No walls. read more

I fell for the flyer they've been sending to mailboxes in the area. It offered a cleaning, x-rays, and dental exam for only $99. In the fine print below, it said "offer only valid in the absence of gum disease". I knew from regular check-ups that I was unlikely to have 'gum disease', so I felt confident that I would be saving money on these services by going to Grateful Dental with their coupon. I was very wrong. After they took x-rays and pictures, the hygienist told me that I had 'gum disease', and cavities that would require extensive treatment to the tune of over $450! Dr. Porcaro agreed with the assessment. I was told that if I proceeded with the $450 in treatments, they could honor the $99 coupon. I was very skeptical. So, I went back to my previous dentist from 12 months before, who was less convenient, but whom I had trusted for 7 years. They told me I had nothing to worry about; my gums and teeth were fine, no cavities, no gingivitis. Needless to say, I will not be going back to 'Grateful Dental'! read more

Being new to the area, we were searching for a great dental office...particularly for my husband. He needed an emergency extraction and Grateful Dental were able to get him in immediately. The staff were so awesome. From the front desk gals to the assistants to the dentist herself. They were all extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and super helpful. My husband was super nervous about the extraction and they made sure that he had everything he needed to be comfortable. Everything went seamlessly with great follow-up. The office is clean with modern touches. Cozy. Not much waiting time and were busy (which is a great sign for me). Lots of smiling faces and really kind professionals working there. This dental office and his debt collection company is such a scam. I paid off all balance but they filed a collection without even notifying me. My credit report plunged from 800 to 635. When I called both them, they admit 100% their mistakes but refused to work with each other to get it resolved. Dental office claimed they have faxed over to collection company on 08/19/19. Collection claimed never received them. When they finally got it, the collection company states it takes them up to 90 days to get my bad record removed. Now the interest is low and I am trying to secure a loan, I have to pay few thousands dollars due to my lower scores. I am so frustrated with dental and the collection. My husband and I visited the practice a week ago. We had a great experience until the dentist told us we both had multiple cavities that needed to be filled. My husband got three cavities filled and has had issues with his mouth ever since. He went back to the dentist and she said nothing was wrong with his mouth. A week later, his mouth still hurts. As for me, I decided not to get my 10 cavities (they quoted) filled. Instead I schedule an appoint with my old dentist for a second opinion. When I got my second opinion he said I had one small developing cavity and small pits. I'm not sure if this was just our experience or the office is negligent. Run far away!!! Lied about multiple cavities and needing two root canals. I was given two extensive treatment plans that went from 2018-2019. I never signed the plan and literally every week I received texts and calls even when I opted out. Fast forward to me going to another dentist today and the dentist saw grateful dentals treatment plan and said it was a "bit excessive". No it was a lot excessive! I don't believe I ever needed the root cancel they gave me. Their treatment plans would've cost me about 4,000 dollars! Never come here!
