3 1/2 stars Always pass this location on my way to a friends house. Don't know if it's the same as the old Grasshoppers behind Giants Stadium (no longer there). We only ordered chicken fingers with fries which the teens liked. Wings. I didn't try them but they said they were good. Reubens were good but needed more dressing and some of the corn beef was a tad chewy. Otherwise it was a cool looking place to grab a quick bit. Service was excellent!! Prices were great also.

Nice place, the food was decent, I got it rather quickly brought to me at the bar and the everyone was cheerful and it was overall a pleasant place to be.

The Grasshopper Too is my go to place for a corned beef sandwich and a draft. The sandwich is thick with juicy quality corned beef and a 20 oz. domestic draft at $3.50 does not hurt either. The sandwich comes with a small cup of coleslaw and steak fries. In my book that is comfort food. The pric has gone up since Covid and is now $12.95. The pastrami sandwich is also good and for the rest of their menu, I could not tell you. This is an Irish pub/restaurant with a full circular bar, drink specials and free buffet during Happy Hour 4-7, Mon-Fri. They also feature "Karoake, live bands, dance parties and there is never a cover charge. The parking lot is often filled with spill over parking in the train station lot. It is a convenient stop when I come home from the city via train.

Not sure if this is a chain, but i've seen a few all over jersey so i decided to stop in and check it out. I was in a rush so I sat at the bar and grabbed a quick drink while the bartender regaled me with a story about his day. he was a true Irish man with quick wit and humor i laughed all the way until my food arrived. I ordered a Philly cheese steak which ended up having real steak cut up on it, tasted like filet and i was in HEAVEN!

The attached photo is the lunch special I had today. It was excellent as were my old-fashions. I brought the corned beef and cabbage home to my Irish wife and it was also great (as usual) as was the soda bread.

The best bartenders, best bar food in the area. You really can't go wrong with the Hopper, around 31 years for a reason, owner is a gem.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

Finally we had a chance to visit recently, enticed by the Hungarian folk band and gulyás (goulash) being featured that day. The place was absolutely packed and lively, with an enthusiastic crowd and some surprisingly good traditional dancers among the patrons. I was chatting with a local regular who told me it's usually a good crowd on the weekend but not like this. Guess the band and gulyás really brought out the throng! They've got a solid core range of beers - IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours - and special/seasonal flavors too, and even have their own hard seltzer line for those non-beer drinkers. I'm not an IPA person but lots of people seem to like their hazy IPAs (which my husband ordered). I stuck with my usual wheat beer and had a Belgian white...with blueberry! Delicious. The laid back and friendly vibe, down-to-earth crowd, and bright interiors with café-like seating areas all make Tribesmen a relaxing place to keep company. The calendar is filled with events such as trivia night, karaoke night, live music, and quaint social activities like crochet & sip and bonsai bar. All's to say I'd hang out here a lot more if I didn't have parenting responsibilities, though this does seem like a pretty family friendly place. They don't serve food but do welcome you to bring outside food or to order in (always a plus), though sometimes they have food trucks on the weekends. Egészségedre!

The beer list is strong, especially if you enjoy hazy IPAs. They also have other drink choices for anyone who isn't a beer drinker - but I was here to taste. There's plenty available to take home, and it was tough to pick just a few because everything I tried was solid. The inside is walk up to the bar self serve (very quick) and if you want to sit out back under the tent they have some kegs out there to make it even faster, but you can order anything you want and they will bring it from the main taps. Oh, also, buy a glass and bring it home. Having one of their 16oz cans poured in their glass somehow makes it taste that much better. If you are doing an NJ beer crawl, which you absolutely should be, make sure this is on your list.

We stopped in mid-week for a family dinner after work and even on a Wednesday the place was buzzing. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, which makes for a cozy atmosphere but also means tables are very close together. If you can, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is somewhat minimal, but the food overall was good. I eat gluten-free and noticed the options were a bit limited, which made ordering slightly challenging. I ended up going with the sea scallops. They were nicely cooked, but the portion was smaller than I expected--five small scallops with some vegetables. For the price, I do wish the portion had been a bit more generous. I have to admit I left still a little hungry. My dad ordered the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. That was probably the standout dish at our table. My sister ordered the honey bourbon chicken and said it was okay, but afterward she mentioned she probably should have gone with the short rib grilled cheese instead. One surprise of the night was live music on a Wednesday. I usually enjoy live music, but since we were hoping to catch up as a family it made conversation a little difficult. The music was fairly loud for such a small space. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. They also have a rewards program, which worked out nicely--my dad received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. I ordered the crème brûlée, which was a great way to end the meal. A couple practical tips: parking in Ridgewood can be tricky. The restaurant advertises valet parking, though we didn't use or see it during our visit. If you find street parking, make sure to feed the meter because the town is known for giving out tickets. In warmer months they do offer some outdoor sidewalk seating, though it looks fairly limited. It also appears they have a happy hour, though we didn't arrive in time to try it. Overall, I'd recommend checking out Steel Wheel Tavern--just be mindful of the timing of your visit, especially if you're hoping for a quieter dinner.

Nice local bar with TVs and a live performer was perfect for a warm Saturday in Jersey. We started off with the fried mozz which was tasty but could've been a little warmer to achieve that gooey cheese feeling. I had the Bourbon which was delicious, I loved the sugar stick! Great touch. For dinner I had the crab cake with grilled/charred brussel sprouts. The crab cake was flavorful with a great crisp but soft texture inside. Brussel sprouts were amazing and I loved the charred flavor, absolutely elevated the veggie. Hubby had the wagyu burger medium rare with the truffle fries. He said the bun was soft/buttery and enjoyed the burger. The place was packed bar and sit down area but our waitress helped us not even 5 mins after seating and was attentive the entire time. We will definitely return if we're ever in the area again and highly recommend it to locals if you haven't been yet!

A very nice touch! I really enjoyed the West Coast grilled chicken. Loved the avocado and pepper jack cheese on the chicken! The side Greek salad was just fair. My bf really enjoyed the Tavern burger. However, a few of the fried onion rings were slightly overcooked and dry. The food was very plentiful. I ended up taking half the grilled chicken sandwich home. In addition, we ordered two glasses Caymus Cabernet. Food was good. Customer service was excellent. I only saw two single stall restrooms.
