Got seated right away on a Sat nite @ 6:00. If u sit upstairs be ready for a loud nite. Low ceiling holds all conversations. Apps were good..got the eggplant tower and gizmo(bread w/ prosciutto n ricotta). Large portions. Main course wife ordered broiled scallops..had absolutely no taste..not seasoned at all..when waitress asked how meal was we told her and she responded ' Oh im sorry".didn't even offer a replacement. Great food and wonderful people. I've eaten here a couple of times over the years, but not recently. This place is fantastic. My Aunt and Uncle are regulars here and I was visiting, so we headed over for dinner. They were personally greeted at the door and a table was prepared quickly for us. The waiter (Justin) knew them, there needs and choices and treated us very well. The food was presented in a timely fashion and the was all very good. We had the Shrimp Fra Diablo, Penne Ala Vodka (with grilled chicken) and the lasagne. My daughter raved that the penne was the best she ever had. I loved the lasagne, which I never order out, and it was great. I finished the meal off with a coffee (which was ok) and the carrot cake (which was extraordinary). My sister and I went to dinner on Feb 8,2023 to celebrate our birthday and had a 100. gift card that our brother had given us. We had a nice bottle of wine, appetizer and entree totaling $95.00. We then presented the Visa Debit gift card and cash tip to the server. To our surprise the card had declined in the restaurants system. I asked for the manager and the owner came over and explained that the don't accept GIFT CARDS. This was not posted in the restaurant, on the menu or in the Bar area. The owner said that he gets this everyday at least 4,000 (his words) customers have been declined since he bought the restaurant 2 years ago and never thought to notify anyone that enters his place that they don't accept gift cards. If you tell him you don't have the money, he tells you to use the ATM in the lobby. So your out dinner ordering $100 worth of food and now you have to use your house money to pay the bill!!!.......get the drift? low life business owner out for himself. read more

A little expensive but great wings and wraps

Wow I have to review! I am a low carber and grain free eater with Celiac disease! This makes it an incredible challenge to order take out. Well Grapevine just really made me happy! Last night I ordered a large italian sub NO BREAD SUB LETTUCE! - Lettuce Tomato Xtra Onion Oil Xtra Vinegar and mayo. I expected a little round pan with lettuce and sub meats... (which usually makes me feel jipped by the way!) I GOT A REAL SUB! I mean it didnt have the bread, but it was exactly as I ordered. They layed it out like a real sub wrapped in foil and just left out the bread. Then these clever folks put the vinegar and mayo in sealed cups on the side. I am SO impressed! It was amazing. I was able to cut it in half and slap it on a plate and dig in. I was so satisfied and happy they got it right. This is the first time I have ever had a real sub and not a weak ass tin of a little meat. It was perfect, plus I ordered it online flawlessly. I will be ordering regularly because I hate cooking! I cannot possible tell these people how happy they made me with such limited options for my health challenges. We were literally driving past when we made a decision to pull into the restaurant. We were seated upstairs which was perfect for our family of 5. The restaurant gives fresh baked bread to start and each meal comes with either soup or a salad. I chose the Manhattan clam chowder while the rest of my party had salads. I ordered the Sesame Tuna and it came with mashed potatoes. Huge portion and was prepared perfectly. Everyone else ordered Chicken Frances's and a personal party pizza. I'm a regular (at least once or twice a week) but will NOT ever be going on a Friday again (at least if the staff in the 'bar area' stays the same). Sat down at the table in the corner. Sat for a little under 15 minutes, no service. But, that's only a small part of the problem... a couple walked in, sat at the table next to us and they immediately got service. Bartender and the supporting waitress had ZERO situational awareness. It's very unfortunate... Never disappointed. This is my favorite place. I go for the early bird specials. There are a lot choices. Shrimp parmesan is my favorite but the chicken mornay is also delicious. Great fresh salad and warm bread. Tea or coffee after the meal. Their cheese cake is the best, I like to take it to go and eat it the next day. Visiting this restaurant ruined my Mother's Day. I should have returned the dish when I noticed it was lukewarm and not hot. I'm convinced that it sat out on the counter for a long time and got contaminated. As a traveling kitchen designer I eat out regularly so when I received an appointment in Little Egg Harbor, NJ the first thing on my mind was seafood. After reviewing the local scene I chose to dine at Grapevine...boy did I make the right choice! I had the Steamers as an appetizer which were awesome and was really in the mood for stuffed shrimp. It was not on the menu but the waitress went to the back and asked the chef and he readily prepared it with no problem. The shrimp were amazing and the crabmeat that he used was off the hook all fresh ingredients. After my dining experience I noticed the chef walk out of the kitchen and quickly called him over to the table to thank him for fulfilling my order. We introduced ourselves and began discussing what my profession was as I praised him for his job well done. If you are ever in the Jersey shore area stop in and ask for Chef Joel, a simply amazing chef and an extraordinary person. If I could give this place 10 stars I would but unfortunately the Yelp app only goes up to five. I happen to come by the Grapevine II on the way home last weekend, stopped in on a whim and the pizza blew me away! So I thought I'd try it again, had another slice of the good spinach tomato and mozzarella, and here I'm picking my jaw off the floor. Hubby and I went for dinner last weekend on the recommendation of a local friend. We had a reservation and were seated on arrival. The restaurant itself looked "dated" at best, but clean. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with our meal choices. We started with apps and soup...oysters Rockefeller were superb. Horrendous meal. This long established restaurant used to be the go -to place for a nice dinner, not anymore. From the well worn entrance to the filthy bathrooms, this restaurant needs a change in management. We recently visited with a large group and ordered the Tournados alla Grapevine. First order was incorrect, medium well, waitress's error, other orders for the same meal came out ice COLD. 4 out of 5 were sent back for being cold, one being completely re-cooked. 4 cold orders came back, still barely warm, meat either cooked till well and 2nd piece raw. The 5th, the newly cooked order, meat was raw. At this time we have been sitting waiting for our meal for over 2 hours. The raw meal was returned again, and a new meal declined. So after 3 hours in a restaurant, no meal, cold food, and rotten baked potatoes. The spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, the dressing was inedible, tasted and resembled confectioner's sugar and water! I have no idea what that was! Now my family has been eating dinner at this establishment since 1986 when it was owned by the original owner, Bill Miller. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

Aside from feeling like we were very out of our neck of the pineys from the other patrons, I loved this place! I loved the originality of it (the doors going back to the kitchen), the staff was great, and the food was AMAZING! My daughter had a colossal sized pizza that she felt so special that she didn't have to share with her brother! The price for that pizza was unbelievably inexpensive. First time here last night. Atmosphere was cool. There was a live performance so that was fun. I ordered the mountaineer sandwich which wasn't that good. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. My sandwich was cold and the roast beef was overcooked. The horseradish was more like cream cheese. So a friend and I went to the Grape Vine for a pizza since they have outdoor seating. The one waitress was very nice who took our order, we ordered a cheese steak pizza, nothing on the menu nor did the server mention that it came with onions peppers and mushrooms otherwise we would not have ordered it..a Different waitress brought it to us and when we stated that we did not ask for the mushrooms onions or peppers she state briskly that that is how they server their cheese steaks...she stalked off with the pizza not even asking if we wanted something else. The first pizza took 45 min to get, so you would think that the cheese steak was fresh made...the second pizza can in 20 min minus the veggies...however, after one bite you could tell the the cheese steak meat came from a pan of meat sitting in onions peppers and mushrooms as you could smell and taste the peppers and onion. The young man who brought the second pie was very nice and took time to ask if we needed anything else, he was the best experience we had. The next day I had severe Runs from the pizza with the cheese steak meat sitting in whatever juices they were in...We will not be going back to this place ever again and we are born locals... read more

the reason this got 2 stars is because of the pizza area. the restaurant is fantastic with great people and our chicken dishes were awesome. but while picking up our order in the pizza area, a worker behind the counter dropped a pizza board holder on the ground, picked it up and continued to use it without washing it or anything. plus no one had their masks on while around us or behind the counter. i would not go again just because that worries me if they are unsanitary about anything else. read more

Visiting from out of town and went here tonight with my grandparents! It was fantastic. Clearly a local favorite. My grandparents knew 2 couples there and the friendly wait staff knew them and knew what booth they wanted the minute they walked in. Food: The starter salad had a delicious infused balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and house made croutons tossed with a blend of herbs and spices. I choose the flounder stuffed with crab, and veggies on the side. The veggies were a little limp...but the fish was delicious. Super fresh but the crab filling was super rich! We opted for spumoni for dessert. As this was a first I don't have much to compare to, but the dark chocolate shell was delicious. read more

There are few restaurants that we go to where the entire family loved their meals. The Grapevine last night was one. Homemade sangria was very good. Started with the eggplant with mozzarella and bruschetta appetizer which was excellent and something we'd never seen on a menu. My husband and I had the seafood broil and loved it. My father in law had the fried scallops. And my mother in law loved the crab cakes -- they were huge and filled with chunks of crab. Our son ordered the beef tournadoes --- wow! Perfectly cooked filet with crab in a sauce that was to die for! And the service was excellent. Chris was very attentive and very nice. We will definitely return to the Grapevine. read more

The pizza at grapevine is good, definitely one of the best places to get pizza in south jersey, since decent pizza is hard to find in that area. I usually get take out pizza from here. On one occasion I decided to sit down at the restaurant and order food and was definitely disappointed. I felt like I was on an episode of Restaurant Impossible. The decor and ambiance was outdated and ugly and the food wasn't much better. My date ordered chicken alfredo, and I don't even remember what I got. All I remember is both dishes were not good at all. I'll stick with the pizza and never again sit down for a meal at this place. read more
