No, I don't know who gives this place 4-5 stars, they must have a lot of friends and family. Started off with New England clam chowder had the consistency of Day old oatmeal, A gray , brown hue and enough Rosemary to choke a horse. Back it went. And so it went , not cheap either entrées $23-$28, The decor is a combination Ramada inn 1980s and VFW hall. It's all very sad. read more

Blah.The server (he`s an `architect` when not waiting) was very friendly..we have been 2 times on a Saturday and generally clears out it seems around 8-830. We arrived at 830 and felt a bit rushed (not by the waiter) just the atmosphere of cleaning chemicals and setting up for the next day..With a full bar and liquor lic in a `shore town`,this place should be hopping and a goldmine.It seems the owners are happy with what they get- old lady groups and some random diners,and a small bar crowd on the other side.The place has a pizza takeout attached as well.We have had the pizza a few yrs ago and it wasn`t that bad at first until they started loading it with garlic powder. The food-we gave them a pass on `yuk` food ,because teh 1st time we sat down was a week after Sandy hit this town.I figured maybe the staff is flustered,half the town (myself incl) had been hit hard by the storm and I still had no power.(Although I understand this place had only a minor power outage during storm). So I gave them a pass on bad food (ok server there as well)..Visit #2 was courtesy of a gift card my DW received from coworkers which was such a nice gesture.However,I began to wonder if they (coworkers) really like her or not. Maybe they know of the bad food quality.Service from actual wait staff very good...Stuff coming out of the kitchen not so good..Considering it was always known as a seafood joint,prior to present ownership), we ordered the greasya fried calamari and I had a very small portion of local flounder.When something is $20 and `local` it should be abundant and reasonably priced proportionate to the serving size.My small request of no tomato sauce on the side of pasta(I only wtd the same fish sauce on the pasta) was met with confusion and the kitchen failed to deliver a proper portion there as well. My DW chix parmesan was edible but at the price,nothing the local pizzeria couldn`t do for less.The atmosphere is dated,the rugs were full of splenda and straw wrappers. When you pay these prices,you should expect better food & portions, better cleanliness and atmosphere.We go out to eat ALOT and are right nearby and it`s a shame, they could do a simple revamp and have a goldmine..Many from this area travel 2 towns away to go to Olive Garden/TGIF.Why not make a sports bar,or a unique concept rather than rest on your laurels?? We go there frequently in the summer. The seafood dishes are great. They had the best Chilian sea bass I ever had. Unfortunately they do not have it anymore. I was told not enough people ordered it. Too bad, we miss it. Scallops, seafood combo, clams, mussels etc. are great. This is the only place where I will order a prime rib since their cuts are not loaded with fat. Good off-season choice, when it is easier to get reservations. Consistently above average food from varied menu. Fairly priced bar drinks. Try the cheese covered grilled eggplant appetizer. Good parking. Men's bathroom in need of renovation. read more

I took the soggy pizza and froze it in 2 slice packs. In a 450 degree oven I heated it (cooked it) and it was 100% better.

I recently had one of the worst meals I have ever had at the Grapevine. I ordered the veal parmigiana and what I got was an unbelievably awful piece of meat. It was dry, salty, and burned. It was like biting into a hunk of salt that only slightly tasted like veal. It was served over zitti and I was hoping to salvage the meal by eating as much zitti as I could, but the tomato sauce was so salty that it was barely even edible. There was no way to get away from the salt. On top of this, the waitress seemed as though she wanted to be somewhere else entirely. She was rude and distant. At the prices they charge at the Grapevine, customers deserve fresh meat that is cooked properly and good service. read more

We bought pizza and a garden salad from here tonight and it was the worst take out we have ever bought. The salad greens were old and brown. The dressing did not taste like ranch and the pizza was so bad we could not eat it. It was very over cooked, the dough was terrible and it had a really bad flavor. Even my two kids would not eat it and they eat any pizza. I do not recommend the food from here. read more

My wife and I came to dine based on good word of mouth. We sat down, ordered drinks and perused the menu. While doing so we noticed that we were the only people under 70 in the place and we could see why. The menu was boring and over priced. We decided to make up a story of a fake emergency to the server who was very polite and understanding, offered to pay for our drinks which she said was not necessary, left a tip and ran for it. I felt a little embarrased but we agreed that we probably would have had a boring mediocore meal and felt ripped off when the check came. That being said lets talk about the grapevine II. you know the other half of this place thats just an average looking pizzaria? Stopped in for a quick slice one day and was shocked to have the best pizza ive had since moving here from N.Y.C. Total opposite of the resturaunt. Same run of the mill pasta, salads & sandwiches as any other menu in town but the food tastes well above average compared to any place for miles away and the prices are very reasonable.Excellent linguini w/ clam sauce (fresh whole clams) for $11.00. We havnt had a bad meal yet. Really want a treat? There is an appetizer thats not on the menu and it is outrageous! Garlic bread topped with fresh bruschetta, eggplant, mozzarella & balsamic vinegar. I forget what they call it but its worth every penny. So bottom line is stay out of the dinning room, save a few bucks, get it to go & create your own ambiance at home. Bon appetite. read more

Have eaten there often especially when friends from outside this area visit. Real white tablecloths and napkins. Staff is great and food comes in a reasonable time. For the last 4 years they have catered a party at our house (Christmas time) for about 18 people. Everyone says how good the food is. read more

I also do not understand the glowing reviews. The place is dank, with a really bad moldy odor. My veal parm dinner was inedible, basically breaded fried fat. My husbands dinner was also pretty bad but he maintains that because he was in the army he has more tolerance for bad food than I do. Worst dining experience I have had in years!!! We had reservations at 6 and we were not seated till 6:30. When we were finally seated our waitress came over quickly and took our drink orders.. My husband wanted to know what beers were available on tap. She was clueless and had to ask at the bar! Knew we were in trouble from the start but we let it go and continued to order our dinner. Didn't order anything special- all off of the regular menu. After an hour my husband complained bc we did not receive our dinners yet and asked to speak to the manager... She wasn't available to speak to him however an employee said she would relay his concerns to her... She never stopped by our table to see what the problem was. The waitress was aware and very apologetic for the delay. She also seemed very frustrated with the lack of attention the kitchen was giving to the diners. About 30 minutes later dinner finally arrived and again the waitress apologized for the delay. Again we asked to speak to the manager. About 10 minutes later she showed up to ask if our dinner was ok. We explained our disappointment and were offered a free dessert. Now mind you we ordered steaks, veal and seafood which was highly priced! I told her we had plans and had to rush through dinner because of be delay and didn't have time for dessert. When I suggested that perhaps she could accommodate us by taking something off the bill she said she would take off 1 round of drinks which amounted to 2 beers and a sangria.. When the bill came there was still a charge for 1 beer so my husband pointed it out to waitress and she had to ask the manager to remove it from the final bill... She did and never bothered to apologize. She basically removed about $10-$12 off of a $130 bill. So needless to say we will never return to this establishment again! read more
