We had never dealt with this auction house until recently when one if their antique auction lots…read morecaught our eye. We rolled into their Beverly, MA auction location in advance of the scheduled preview date from out of town while traveling and requested to preview the lot early. After a quick explanation of our odd timing they agreed to give us rock star access to preview the auction lot we were interested in. We were given private hand on access to the auction item to further verify condition and authenticity. They were easy to deal with and friendly and we set up a phone bid prior to leaving. They also recommended a preferred shipper for us to use. (that they have had great luck with in the past) The day of the auction came and they called us promptly a few lots ahead of our actual lot going across the auction block. We were pleased to win the bid on our rare item via our phone bid. Shipment was prompt and we are very pleased to have this very rare item in our collection.

One item was purchased using immediately my max absentee bid without any other competing bid and…read moreanother lot was wrongly listed with an error in both the artist's name and the estimate, keeping it off the radar from people who use websites scanning auctions for specific artists worldwide. Which makes me think they intended it for a buyer from their inner circle who will flip it for a good profit. I wasn't warned that my bids had a ceiling, therefore counting me out of the bidding process half-way through and they made it very hard to raise this bid ceiling after the auction, wanting me to share personal invoices from previous auction purchases to justify it. Too shady compared to my experience with other more professional auction houses who respect their customers even through the verification process. When I picked up the one item I won at their location, the office clerk was literally snoring at the desk. Not the best experience. No need to take your business there, plenty of better options.

I'll be honest that I kind of miss actually being at their auctions... but due to the pandemic ALL are held online. It's really no different other than you won't have the same experience of excitement with the normal bidding process we are used to. Nor will you actually see the participants... which can be a good thing? LOL Hey, we can't have it all during these times.. COVID has changed things. When you " win" you receive an invoice & your online account is charged. The pick up process is tiered in catagories. You click on yours & select the time in - I believe 10 minute increments... And that's it. Really simple.... Oh yeah: you show up at your time slot. You then sign that you are receiving your item(s). There are always friendly & awesome people there to assist if you need help getting anything out to your vehicle. And that's basically it! Today, like all other visits I picked up my "winnings " which I consider to be some great finds!

The interesting thing is that I had had an appraisal done two years ago and home prices have been going up since then. In the meantime, I have had sigificant work done in the house as well. The new appraisal vale was quite a bit less than the original one. It seemed like the appraisal company is really trying to get the banks' business and intentionally lowballs the homeowner. I tried to call the appraiser to discuss this but he would not call me back. If you have a choice, I would stay away from this company.
