I stopped here last week and was pleasantly surprised at the beer and wine selection that were on shelves and in the coolers. Both are fairly extensive. There is a bar which is in the center of the space. They have a nice tap selection featuring beers from the Red Oak, Raleigh and Trophy Brewing companies. I sat and had a nice IPA from Bombshell Brewing. I then purchased a six pack of Hazy IPA from RBC. While I was leaving I noticed a Taco food truck pulling up for the night. There is also live music and other events at this location.

I had walked to a neighboring restaurant for a late lunch and then decided to stop into D's, sit and have a glass of wine. Kelly greeted me as I sat at the bar and so kindly asked me about my day. I asked her about a glass of wine a customer just ordered and she provided me a sample. I ordered a glass and sat at the bar for about 30 minutes and enjoyed the glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The atmosphere is super family friendly, there were several families in there at the time. It's a shop, so there are plenty of people in and out buying beer and wine. There's a bar with plenty of seating and TVs. There are a couple of booths as well. There are benches outside and a couple of heat lamps. They several events from wine tastings, wine and beer classes to fundraisers.

The entire store is filled with wines from all over the world. The best part? None of them are from big companies. The owner/ founder of Wine Authorities has been working with a lot of the wineries for many years. They taste every new batch they purchase to ensure quality. Although they have many businesses they've been working with for a long time, they go to wine shows and events in Europe to discover new ones! I like my wine very sweet but there were so many choices that I was a bit overwhelmed. I asked the nice lady at the register to give me recommendations and I loved the wine she recommended. If you are a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, just ask for help. They are very informative and helpful! Aside from their amazing wine, they also have beer, cider, sake, hot sauce, honey, meats, and etc. You will find at least one thing you will love. On Saturdays, they have free wine tastings from 12-3pm! If you cannot make it there on time, you can always buy a bottle or two. They will give you glasses to drink in the back or outside if the weather is nice outside! You can also buy snacks or cheese to go with your wines. Also, if you are a little hungry, you can buy a bottle from Wine Authorities and head to Thai Cafe next door and they will let you drink there without extra charge!

You won't find any corporate macro brews here... only those that make the cut of Mike and his crew. If you're a lover of craft beer; you will love this bottle shop. If you are not a lover of craft beer... well, there's wine, Sake, ciders, and maybe even a root beer. Water? Okay... but, weird. Okay, there's some solid snacks as well, and THEY'RE CHEAP! One buck gets you a cup-o-snack and you're golden for a little while. You can even order out from Junction On 70 just a few doors down the sidewalk and pick up your order to eat at the bottle shop. They have a wine machine that has about four to five whites, and eight to ten reds available in 1 oz., 2 oz., or 4 oz. pours. All you do is purchase a card for $3 or if you put $20 on the card the fee is waived. That's the way to go!!! Once you have your card, you put it in, grab a readily available glass and pick your desired wine. Prices are definitely reasonable, in fact are on the cheaper end compared to other wine machines I've tried. They range from $0.70-1.80 for the 1.0 oz sample. You can't beat sampling wine while shopping. Staff is informative and helpful. Comfy chairs and tables are also available for your seating pleasures!!! Great selection, can't wait to go back and sample what's new, and pick up a few bottles.

Maybe a little less variety than at, say, a Twin's Liquor in Texas, but not far off. But probably no tasting events or promotions, I'd bet. So I guess the main downside is no possibility of a liquor/wine/beer/specialty-foods superstore like Spec's in Texas, or Wine Library in New Jersey, or something like that. And the fact all the ABC stores look nearly exactly the same, like nasty old banks. I'm also surprised they open at 9AM, which is pretty early for a typical liquor store.
