The entire store is filled with wines from all over the world. The best part? None of them are from big companies. The owner/ founder of Wine Authorities has been working with a lot of the wineries for many years. They taste every new batch they purchase to ensure quality. Although they have many businesses they've been working with for a long time, they go to wine shows and events in Europe to discover new ones! I like my wine very sweet but there were so many choices that I was a bit overwhelmed. I asked the nice lady at the register to give me recommendations and I loved the wine she recommended. If you are a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, just ask for help. They are very informative and helpful! Aside from their amazing wine, they also have beer, cider, sake, hot sauce, honey, meats, and etc. You will find at least one thing you will love. On Saturdays, they have free wine tastings from 12-3pm! If you cannot make it there on time, you can always buy a bottle or two. They will give you glasses to drink in the back or outside if the weather is nice outside! You can also buy snacks or cheese to go with your wines. Also, if you are a little hungry, you can buy a bottle from Wine Authorities and head to Thai Cafe next door and they will let you drink there without extra charge!

Unfortunately, what we received was extremely disappointing. The cake was poorly decorated and looked like very little effort or care went into it. When we brought it up to the baker, she brushed us off and said we could request a refund if we wanted, but that she wouldn't do anything to fix it. The event was only two hours away, and thankfully, the amazing staff at the Whole Foods bakery stepped in and helped us get cakes for 67 people with just an hour's notice. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this Harris Teeter location for cakes, especially if you need something that looks even halfway presentable.

Louella's came up as one of the few still open after 9 PM. I checked the website, and found that they have not, one, not two, but an entire page of fortified wines and Vermouth! As a cocktail nerd, this place checked boxes I didn't even realize I had! There's half a rack of bitters and other premixes. The atmosphere on this blissfully warm night in September was dimly lit, quietly elegant ambiance music (Think Brian Eno, Volcano Choir, or Bon Iver) From outside, with two large TVs above a bar, you may think it's a typical sports bar. But no one here is drinking beer, they have pizza from down at Hutchin's Garage and various wines out on the tables out front. With real glasses. Like adults. Here in the south in a semi-pandemic semi-lock-down. After picking out three different sweet vermouth to try, I bought a glass of Dolcetto and a pre-boxed cheese/meat tray. Although the cheese was from the cooler, as it set out, it was evidently fairly fresh, because it warmed up testily. Sadly, they close at 10, so I'll have to wrap this up later. Suffice it to say, if you're looking for a place to grab a special bottle to upscale your Negroni, or just can't seem to find Pechaud's bitters anywhere, now you have a place to check out. There is an entire 85% more of the store to explore for me, since I had arrived with a narrow purpose and found it immediately. But you can bet, I'll be back. It's within walking distance of FullSteam, MotorCo, Hutchin's, Cocoa Cinnamon's Old North Durham location. They've only been open for six months, when you don't count COVID time, so give 'em some love, folks! They are the type folks we need to support!

Kind of like Cafeteria food. They gave you coins to pay for it, and the turn out was always so robust. It was a really nice way to get the community together and also try dishes that you probably hadn't had in a while, or even ever. I remember those events, being the talk of the town. My friends would mark on their calendars that it was a "no-cook night" and to meet them there. Fun times. I've been meaning to sign up for their owners program, that is on my to-do list. By donating a certain amount to the co-op, you become a founding member and help support the co-op. It's a sweet way to be involved and invest in the Durham community. I also love the parking situation at the co-op, you are never fighting for a place to park, and the parking spots are not razor thin. At the front of the store, there is a grassy area with picnic benches, and I find it so inviting. People are having lunch dates there, sharing snacks, and just enjoying the weather. I will say though, the co-op is one of those places that I have to remember to go to. Now that I'm writing out all that I love about it, I will continue to keep it on my mind.

The owner is really nice and is continually asking what he should carry. The space is not big and the selection is not huge, but we've bought produce, soft drinks and locally made burritos from them. I appreciate that they carry products from local companies. They also have a selection of beer and wine that you can take with you or consume onsite. We would love to get mimosas and hang out at the tables on the sidewalk when the weather gets warm. This is a nice addition to this section of Durham.
