Nice little bottle shop near the Durham Central Park where the farmer's market is. It's not a huge space and the selection is decent but not overwhelming. I believe they occasionally host events and entertainment but I'm not 100% sure. In addition to cans and bottles, you can also order from a selection on tap. Try it out if you're in the area. But remember, it's small and has some but not a ton of seating.

    Twenty taps!

What a great new spot in Durham close to the farmers market and the DIY district! I noticed an empty growler sitting in my house and had recently heard about "growler" stores popping up, so I gave Beer Durham a call to see if they could fill up my growler--the reply was yes, any brand, any type, bring it in! I arrived in the store and was quickly greeted by the staff who took my growler to sanitize before filling. While we were waiting the man behind the bar started asking us what we enjoy and giving us suggestions around the store. Very knowledgeable staff and extremely helpful, the "bar tender" gave us several samples of beer from the twenty taps to help us decide what we'd fill our growler with. The crowd in the store felt a bit older but there were several tables to sit at and the store is laid out well, I don't think I would feel crowded easily. Prices are clearly listed on the paper draft list in 7oz, 13oz and 32oz or 64 oz growler fills. While the draft list is extensive and laid out by type, the actual quantity of bottled beer is not as extensive as some of the other beers stores in the area. However, in their benefit, they have top quality! I also saw them offering flights to a couple clients--next time I'll have to find the prices on that. As the store grows and becomes more well known in the area I hope they'll add a cooler for bottled beer; while there's an excellent selection on tap, there's always that one person that wants a specific bottled beer. I'd also like to see them get some outside seating!

Beer Durham is a cute little craft beer store located in downtown Durham. The beer selection on tap was on point, they have a total of 20 taps. Enjoy a flight, small or regular pour, I love that they offer options! If you enjoy a beer tap, purchase a 32oz or 64oz growler fill. Or, take a look around at the bottle selection that they have to offer. It may be small but they embrace quality over quantity, I found a wonderful selection of brews to try. Make sure to check out their website to see what is currently on tap!

Beer Durham is located in the office building at corner of Hunt & Morris streets. Next to the Durham Framers Market parking lot. A little hard to find unless you walk the neighborhood a lot. They have a nice selection - 20 - beers on rotating tap. Available as a 7 or 13 oz pour to stay. 32 or 64 oz to go. The day I stopped by it was screaming hot out and the air conditioning, classy atmosphere and cold beers made it hard to leave. I did not feel creepy about being a woman alone enjoying a beer. Their prices are a bit higher than some of the downtown bars (price is same but only 13 oz vs a pint.). Price on bottles about the same as Sam's. So nice to have a spot with such variety on tap. Residents of West Village need to wander over! Hope that popularity has them expending their limited hours.

Small but has a good selection of beer! The last time I visited, they had live music and samples. They do have parking so it's not too difficult to get in and out. They had several fun and unique bottles I wanted to try and can't wait to visit again.

After a long hot day of walking around downtown Durham, we found ourselves at Beer Durham. We popped in for a spell to cool off with cider and a glass of beer. They were also kind enough to give us water for our dogs. We'll have to come back to look at all their selections, and take home a growler or two!

They have 2 locations- Raleigh and Durham. The entire store is filled with wines from all over the world. The best part? None of them are from big companies. Every single one of them are from local/ small businesses (You can see some of the business owners photos by the wines!). The owner/ founder of Wine Authorities has been working with a lot of the wineries for many years. They taste every new batch they purchase to ensure quality. Although they have many businesses they've been working with for a long time, they go to wine shows and events in Europe to discover new ones! I like my wine very sweet but there were so many choices that I was a bit overwhelmed. I asked the nice lady at the register to give me recommendations and I loved the wine she recommended. If you are a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, just ask for help. They are very informative and helpful! Aside from their amazing wine, they also have beer, cider, sake, hot sauce, honey, meats, and etc. You will find at least one thing you will love. On Saturdays, they have free wine tastings from 12-3pm! If you cannot make it there on time, you can always buy a bottle or two. They will give you glasses to drink in the back or outside if the weather is nice outside! You can also buy snacks or cheese to go with your wines. Also, if you are a little hungry, you can buy a bottle from Wine Authorities and head to Thai Cafe next door and they will let you drink there without extra charge!

If you would enjoy buying 50 and 75+ $$ bottles you can find excellent selections but if your budget is more modest and you are looking for $15-25$ selections, you can buy with confidence as well. Have been buying from them for years.. highly recommend. Love this purveyor.

Like a fox candle! Ha! I love seeing how they have new vegetables and produce every now and then. Back in the day before the pandemic (and maybe they still have this?), they'd have nights where there was a select menu and you could have a weeknight meal for an affordable price. Kind of like Cafeteria food. They gave you coins to pay for it, and the turn out was always so robust. It was a really nice way to get the community together and also try dishes that you probably hadn't had in a while, or even ever. I remember those events, being the talk of the town. My friends would mark on their calendars that it was a "no-cook night" and to meet them there. Fun times. I've been meaning to sign up for their owners program, that is on my to-do list. By donating a certain amount to the co-op, you become a founding member and help support the co-op. It's a sweet way to be involved and invest in the Durham community. I also love the parking situation at the co-op, you are never fighting for a place to park, and the parking spots are not razor thin. At the front of the store, there is a grassy area with picnic benches, and I find it so inviting. People are having lunch dates there, sharing snacks, and just enjoying the weather. I will say though, the co-op is one of those places that I have to remember to go to. Now that I'm writing out all that I love about it, I will continue to keep it on my mind.

Based on my single visit to this location, it seems bigger and a little bit nicer than the Harris Teeter we normally go to. It also seems better stocked. We picked up a 10-oz box of Fresh Express 50/50 Mix of spring mix and spinach ($4.99) and a 48-oz container of Harris-Teeter-cut watermelon chunks ($5.00). It rang up to $10.19 after tax and using my wife's Kroger Plus membership (VIC customer), she got double fuel points for the month. The store was clean and on a Wednesday evening around 7:30pm, most of the clientele appeared to be Duke students. Not surprising considering Duke East Campus is just two blocks away. This Harris Teeter has both a Starbucks and a pharmacy inside. Unfortunately, what we received was extremely disappointing. The cake was poorly decorated and looked like very little effort or care went into it. When we brought it up to the baker, she brushed us off and said we could request a refund if we wanted, but that she wouldn't do anything to fix it. The event was only two hours away, and thankfully, the amazing staff at the Whole Foods bakery stepped in and helped us get cakes for 67 people with just an hour's notice. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this Harris Teeter location for cakes, especially if you need something that looks even halfway presentable.
