The prized baked items were behind the cash register--the bolillos (oval Mexican bread with a crispy crust and a soft center) and the pillowy conchas in many flavors (vanilla is my favorite), which often sell out. Churros were also selling quickly at 75 cents each and had to be ordered at the counter. These looked deceptively small, but they were crisp on the outside and thick with a dense, fried dough on the inside, which was very filling. Reasonably priced and delicious.

The store is fairly simple and basic when you walk in. It's located around the corner of a strip mall, which is rather convenient. The service staff were just ok. The cookies did not look a thing like the display case. What's worse than the look was the taste, though. I did not consider the cookies to be edible. It was really obvious that the cookies were undercooked and needed to be properly baked. I felt inclined to toss them in the trash. The cookies were poor quality and quite gross. I would never in a million years recommend this to anyone. Seems to me like every grocery store within a 5-mile radius could make better cookies -- and there are definitely a lot of great competitors around. Please save yourself the disappointment and financial loss and avoid this overly rated store.

I've had Japanese and Korean shaved ice before and the Taiwanese version is very different from the others. It's a little thicker and fuller so it feels more than water. But still very delicious. I have had Tropitai in person and takeout. I live roughly 30 minutes away and the way they packed the shaved ice, it was still pretty solid by the time I was home. Everything I have had from here has been delicious. My favorites are the wintermelon shaved ice and the wintermelon tea. I can't remember what fresh milk was but it was delicious. Both are very cooling and perfect after an exhausting stressful day. They're not overly sweet even with the condensed milk. Just right. I finally came in person and it's very homey and reminds me of the warmth at my grandparents with all the figurines. Service is super friendly. It's very clean and there's plenty of seating.
