I had the chance to spend a month in Salida this past August, and after driving up and down the…read moreArkansas and seeing anglers on the water I knew I had to try my hand at fly fishing. As someone who had never been fly fishing before I opted for a half day guided trip and stopped by the shop ahead of time to book, making my reservation about 5 days in advance. On the morning of my trip the team at Next Eddy got me set up with a fishing license, waders, and boots. My guide Sam did an awesome job explaining everything to me from the very start. My goal for the day was to learn as much as I could, so Sam broke down everything from the gear and rigging, to the bugs we were seeing on the water. I learned how to roll cast, and we hit several different runs at a spot in the canyon near town. Sam showed me how to find spots where fish might be, key principles like "foam is home," and I finally landed a brown trout near the end of our day! The whole experience was amazing and brought me a ton of joy to be out on the water in such a beautiful area. Before leaving town I ended up buying an Echo rod/reel setup from the shop and Sam helped me get set up with all the basics I'd need to go fishing on my own. My first time out I caught two small brown trouts, and I'll chalk it up to luck and the foundational skills I learned on my guided trip. This new sport has been opened up to me thanks to Sam and the team at The Next Eddy, and since that first guided trip I've been out fishing again 3 times including at some spots on the front range closer to home. I highly recommend this shop and their guiding services!

Cameron was our guide and the entire experience - from booking - through the end of the experience was phenomenal! They are patient, kind, encouraging, knowledgeable, personal, and accommodation people. Cameron was definitely born for this job and I cannot thank him enough for providing such an amazing intro to fly fishing. We had a blast and both caught fish despite some really crummy weather! His spirits and enthusiasm kept us going and feeling excited the whole time!

As an east coast resident, words cannot convey how cool this place is. I literally could stop right…read morethere and my review would be over, but Yelp likes whole essays about shtuff. I've been to a lot of places around the globe. More than most people my age could ever hope for, but this place is new to me. In my one visit to this store I rode a Ferris wheel, played bowling, and browsed the largest arsenal of firearms I've ever seen. That alone made my day, but I'm not done yet. This place has more bikes and skateboards than Alpine Ski Shop. Their camping section is larger than Dick's and Cabela's combined. The clothing department is chock full of everything that one would want to pull over their skin. I haven't even mentioned that their prices are average to cheap! Heck, even the employees are kind and helpful! There's literally nothing I can complain about, because I've never experienced anything that compares to Scheels. I literally cried when I walked into this place, because it fulfilled everything my hopes and dreams could possibly muster. I love being critical to mega corporations, and I thought they might have a fascist CEO or something, but that's where it really gets crazy. Scheels is 100% employee owned, meaning DEMOCRACY BABY!!! I barely edited this review, so if you see something weird, I honestly don't care. Moral of the story is that I'm flabbergasted beyond belief.

We were not properly prepared for snow and needed to buy a jacket and footwear. We noticed Sheels off the freeway but had never shopped in one of the stores prior. We walked in and wow. What a beautiful store! We noticed several parents walking in with toddlers and I can see why. Beautiful fish tanks, an actual Ferris wheel! What in the world! The selection of outdoor gear and supplies in the store was overwhelming. So much to look at. I wanted to try on everything. We weee greeted and helped out by the most friendly staff. One woman in particular in the UNRL section was very helpful. We purchased the jacket and socks and were quickly checked out by friendly staff. We didn't have time to go through the store but will certainly be visiting their new Chandler location soon.

So much so, we returned the next day to purchase the sweatshirt I was eyeing and I've hardly taken it off since! So many cute Colorado themed items like your typical souvenir trinkets-- magnets, socks, spice mixes, clothing, post cards, mugs... a little bit of everything!

All About Colorado is probably my favorite souvenir place that I visited in Downtown CO Springs…read more If rating souvenir shops on the scale of cheesy t-shirt shop to high end decor, AAC falls right in the middle. It has a little bit of everything for everyone. AAC is actually two shops in one. It looks like they may have been separate at one time, but are now connected. Both sides have similar items and similar helpful staff. Here are some of the items I liked: Hats: I love a good ball cap. They had several different styles. Shirts: There were a good variety of shirts that were Colorado themed or for specific local attractions. Their shirts were much cheaper than the ones for sale at the local attractions. Stickers: I love stickers. I bought several. There were some that seemed a tad ridiculous, but I am sure they sell plenty of weed themed stickers here. Weeeeeeeed maaaaaaan. Get a job hippy. Coffee Mugs: Even though I drink iced coffee, I love location specific mugs. They had mugs a plenty here. Kids books: Who hasn't read "Who Pooped in the Snow"? Actually, I have not and it made me regret that my kids don't like story time anymore. This store has way more than the items I listed. I think you will like it. I did.
