Have been going to the Warwick R.S.L for many years. But today I received the worst meal i have had…read morein a long time. Even though the meals are cheep with the recent change in the R.S.L there is a issue with the food quality leaves something to be desired. I have found in more then one dish the food is often room temperature or cold and most of the Vegetables are still frozen and or lacks flavour. Also most of the food that i did love to eat from here has been taken of the menu. But with days meal it made both my mother and i sick and it is because of this me and my family have had our last meal here today and will be going else where for our weekly outings.

Our waiter was very attentive but not overly so and made some excellent suggestions on what wines to have with what food. Again, like with a lot of restaurants in the region, they only use local produce and local wines. We started off with the bread with dukka. Both of which were made on premises and the olive oil which came with the meal came from Lyra which is another suburb in the Granite belt. For my main I had the chicken and it was cooked perfectly. My spouse had the steak and it was cooked exactly the way he wanted. Both meals were perfect. Desert was the chocolate fondant (him) and the creme brulee (me). both were so amazing. Shiraz restaurant is so good that it is actually the kind of restaurant I would find in a 5 star establishment - not in a country town. This is definitely on my 'must go to again' list.

I have to say - it is well worth the 20 minute drive in the dark out of Stanthorpe for this! The food - to say the least - was some of the best I have had in a very long time. My starter (selection of antipasto) were all local ingredients from the Ballandean / Stanthorpe region and was absolutely mind blowing. My partner's starter (bread with balsamic and olive oil) was just as delicious. Baked on site and the oil and balsamic came from a local producer was just incredible. The balsamic was the nicest I have had ever. My main (pork belly) was melt in your mouth fabulous. My partner had the steak and he said it was the best steak he had had in a restaurant ever. He is even more harder to please than fussy old me! He asked for his steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Both the pork belly and the steak came from local farms. Dessert we shared a chocolate and muscat pudding which was just gorgeous (again all local ingredients). I could have eaten two of them! My partner is not a fan of Queensland wines (he is from South Australia) but decided to try their Shiraz and loved it. He said it was on par with the SA wines. This place is an absolute must if you are in the Stanthorpe / Ballandean region.
