When I was unfortunate enough to warrant a visit here on an emergency appointment the staff were quick and efficient and very friendly and helpful. I went straight in to see a lovely doctor who was that nice to me that she made me cry! She quickly sussed out my situation and sorted me a prescription out. Even better is that they have a Lloyds pharamacy attached to the side of the building so it's really convenient to go and pick up what ever you need.

The doctors are very good, friendly and easy to talk to you don't get the feeling that they are above you. Getting appointments is really easy no long waits, and on the day of your appointment it dosen't seem like they are constantly running behind like some practices!. Theres a small play area for the children to keep entertained while you wait, and plenty of seating available too, it's clean and very accesible for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The parking is good too its never really full so you won't worry about finiding a space. I really can't fault them.

They have another surgery on Craven Road I think, but this one is closer for me. It's a beautiful Victorian building, all high ceilings and big doors and windows, and there's a car park round the back (off Grove Lane), although it's meant to be for staff and disabled customers only but there's always plenty of space so I park there anyway. There's a nifty new electronic log-in when you arrive which is a bit confusing, but the reception staff are helpful if you need a hand. The practice nurse is hilarious and very good at relaxing you if you're a bit nervous.

They also provide extra services such as minor surgery, accupuncture, self help groups, prescription collection and delivery, and free transport to help you get to the surgery and avoid calling the doctor out on a home visit. All the doctors are very good with excellent bedside manner, the only downside is that it can be difficult to get an appointment exactly when you want it, though emergency consultations are always available when really needed.

The reception and admin staff are polite and courteous, making efforts to accommodate your appointment and work around your schedule, often calling you back if a more convenient slot becomes available. They are very professional and maintain patient confidentiality, and speak about patients respectfully when talking to each other (which I have seen reception staff fail to do in so many other practices). The waiting rooms are clean and comfortable, displaying useful information and calling you to the surgery rooms via a large screen. There is even an electronic check-in desk where you can sign in for your appointment when the reception desk is very busy. All of the doctors and practice nurses I have seen have been professional and caring, and I would recommend this surgery to anyone living in the catchment area.

I suppose that will happen if you're a non-hypocohondriac and therefore don't really get the chance to build the same rapport with another. You need to call early for an appointment - they are always full to capacity. And it is sensible to set off early to secure a parking space. Within the last couple of years, the pharmacy inside has become a Boots branch and they have introduced a computerised check-in system. The waiting room has always been a fairly pleasant place, with obvious care and attention put into the noticeboards around the edges. Who said you need magazines for interesting reading material? Although these are usually available too!
