Small biscuit and gravy.
Michael D.

Honest good diner food. Out of the way, actual location a little down from where GPS told us. Come in sit down and they were busy, but we were served quickly and enjoyed. So, looking for a local experience not in downtown. Here it is. Ambiance, well it's a local place through and through.

Food is made fresh to order so it take a little time especially when its busy but its worth it. I just got a simple 2 egg, dry wheat toast, home fries and grits. I received the biggest bowl of grits I've ever seen in my life for 3 bucks!

view of the front door. seat yourself and the waitress will get your order

A small place where the blue collar workers eat. great food and a small diner atmosphere. prices are reasonable. fast service and great attention from the server. out of the way but worth driving to.

Very good biscuits and gravy.

Chicken fried steak not children fried steak. My mistake/ typo. Doesn't change the fact that the service was terrible.

Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly local place. Limited parking. Cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee and visit with the locals.

It was well past 2 o'clock, and I try not to drink coffee after 11ish-o'clock, because it usually messes with my sleep. But I remembered the words of a man much wiser than me who once said, "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death," so I felt like a lil' iced coffee would actually be beneficial, in this case. No regrets. The iced coffee was great! I always forget about iced coffee when I'm at a coffee shop, because I just usually order a hot black coffee. I'm so stuck in my ways, sometimes! But iced coffee was a good choice in this situation, and it came with a little vanilla cream, which was unexpected but a nice indulgence. The Grind is located right across the street from West Virginia University. It was packed when I visited, and I imagine it is almost always packed, because of its location. But the people who work here are very efficient and friendly, and my iced coffee was ready lickety-split. I got my coffee to go, but there are some tables inside the coffee shop to sit and relax, if you wanted to. One of my favorite things about The Grind is that they have a confession box in the restroom. I left a little confession in the box, because it promised that the box was "a safe place to share what you can never tell a soul," and I felt that I could trust this random coffee shop in West Virginia with my whole heart. I left my confession there, and took my iced coffee with me and went on my way.

Hotel Morgan has come a long way with their renovation…read more The lobby is beautiful while still keeping the historical charm. The bed & sheets were super comfy and relaxing. Fresh coffee downstairs every morning was a nice treat. I only experienced 2 cons. 1- my room was not serviced over the 2 days I was there. I didn't have the do not disturb sign up, so was sad to see it wasn't cleaned. 2- parking- valet was constantly missing. I ended up just self parking myself. That was also a challenge. The directions were not clear and I circled for about 5 minutes before finally calling the hotel to get better directions than what I was provided at check in. Overall a nice stay and will definitely stay again when country roads take me home to Morgantown.

The staff was consistently aloof (I stayed almost a full work week, so I met a number of them) and made me feel like either I was being an inconvenience or they had no idea what was happening with basic requests like "could you hold on to this suitcase for the morning" and "I need to get something out of my car." The valet parking is fine, but they park the cars so close together that getting something out of your car becomes an acrobatic act I am simply too old for. And the bar food is good but frankly too expensive for what you get. The location in downtown makes up for a lot, and none of this was dramatically bad when the room was clean and spacious, but they have some work to do on the customer service front.

Unfortunately, we only received half of our order and had to share one entree and side. We ordered the B3 Mac and cheese, brisket handheld, house BLT and jalapeño cornbread for delivery. When our order arrived I was handed only the Mac and cheese and brisket sandwich. By the time our order got there the restaurant was already closed so we couldn't even call and get the missing items. Both the items we received were actually really good but we were disappointed that half our order was missing. The sandwich had balsamic onions, Swiss and horsey sauce and was very tasty. The fries that came with the sandwich were seasoned well and also really good. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had a nice amount of bacon. I'd love to give them another shot the next time we're in the area since the food was good. Hopefully we'll get to try the cornbread next time.
