We visited on a Friday evening and it was moderately busy - the patio / deck area was packed, but we sat inside and other than a handful of patrons at the bar, we were the only table. It was noisy for the amount of people in there. Our waitress was attentive although she never offered the specials - didn't know there were specials until I heard another waitress offering to one of the bar patrons. We ordered the chips and queso appetizer, wedge salad, and crab stuffed salmon. The portions are quite large, but the prices are high. The queso was good - more like a beer cheese. The wedge salad was interesting. It's not a typical wedge salad - it's made from romaine with ranch rather than blue cheese. It also comes with steak - The steak was overcooked and difficult to eat. I ordered medium rare and it was more like well done. My husband enjoyed his crab stuffed salmon which he also got rice and green beans. It definitely was a lot of food. We will try it again sometime. read more

My daughter asked me to go here with her, after looking at the menu & prices I initially said no but then I reconsidered as I had never been. We were seated right away. The weather was damp and overcast but we asked to sit outside as there was a nice breeze. I ordered appetizers calamari & the crab dip, the calamari was absolutely perfectly cooked with a nice coating. I love that they didn't just give you the calamari rings yiu also got tentacles. The crab dip was also delicious and real crab. Interestingly they served the crab dip with a pretzel. Also delicious. My daughter got the fish po' boy and it was a large portion with delicious french fries. The waiter was attentive. The view was amazing. We had a beautiful view of Cheat Lake. They have a bar downstairs and according to the hostess they also have bands play. Four stars for the location and restaurant itself. Dockside Bar and Grill is located right on the Cheat Lake marina, so if you sit by a window or on the deck, you'll see beautiful views of the water. Inside, there's a fireplace that is pleasant to stand in front of (I was cold, so that's what I did), the bar looks like a tiki hut, and at the host stand, there's a tank with some turtles in it. It's a very relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. However, the food was mid. They've got burgers and pizza and sandwiches, which make up most of the menu, but they also have seafood and pasta dishes. I got the pulled pork sandwich, and it was super sweet. Way too sweet! And it was topped with shredded cheese that I could tell was pre-shredded and came from a bag. The fries that came with my sandwich were super seasoned. Way too seasoned! Everything about my meal was "way too." We also got the WV Wedge salad, which apparently is one of their specialties. It was aiight. Instead of bleu cheese like a typical wedge, this one came with both ranch and Italian dressing, plus pieces of steak. My kids enjoyed their grilled cheese sandwiches and cheeseburgers from the kids' menu. One thing that's interesting about the kids' menu here is that steak is an option! (Well, steak tips.) We visited Dockside in the offseason, but apparently this place gets extremely busy during the summer, when everyone wants to be on the lake. read more

Came here for brunch over the weekend with some out of town friends. First impression was that the parking situation is terrible. We ate inside and still had a nice view of the marina. The inside seating area was pretty cool. They had a good amount of TV's hanging from the walls and a decent sized bar off to my left. My Brunch Burger was great! It was a big burger with bacon, egg, tomato, and garlic aioli on it. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and seasoned very well! Girlfriend got the Chicken and Waffles. She asked for the waffles on a separate plate and that did not happen. Her waffles came out smothered in gravy and soggy, so she asked the waitress if they could remake those. Waitress came out shortly after with one waffle... When we got the bill the waitress actually charged her for that waffle that she asked to be remade. She did remove it from the bill after we asked about it. Lastly, I got a water at the beginning of my experience when I first sat down. That water was not refilled once the entire time I was there. I was eating ice chips while eating my burger. I asked for more water "when you get a chance" once early on and she told me she'll be right back. Food was good, but 3 stars because below average service and the parking lot setup is not the best. read more

The atmosphere was spot on with a table right near the water! Quick service in seating us and just as quick with the beverage delivery. We decided quickly to settle on the pancakes and waffle & chicken platters. It was enjoyable waiting for the food to be delivered as we got to enjoy the open air atmosphere and dockside table near the water. The food came out pretty quick for scratch made entrees. Dockside Chicken & Waffle had two smaller Belgian waffles with a fried chicken breast, ,county style bacon, deliciously creamy sausage gravy with a touch of pancake syrup,accompanied by Home Fries. Always love eating brunch here. It is by the lake and it's just a very chill vibe. It can be loud at times but you can still talk amongst yourselves. Was there on a hot summer afternoon around 3:45. Bartenders were pleasant to chat with. Didn't talk much about the menu at all so wasn't exactly sure what they were known for so I took a shot at it and ordered a caprise sandwich with tomato, pesto, buffalo mozzarella, and decided to add chicken. Sandwich came out soggy fries and no chicken. Sent it back fries came out better but you could tell they didn't make a new sandwich just inserted the chicken and sent it back out. Bread was very soggy by this time and not impressed with their chef. Drinks were fine but think twice about ordering food not so great. Incredible food and view! We got the nachos and some sandwiches for lunch. Awesome spot to watch a game or just enjoy the lake. I cannot recommend the nachos enough. Cocktails aren't bad either. The service was pretty brutal as the waitresses created a dead zone with us and another table so it took 30 mins to flag down a waitress, finally had to go talk to the hostess to get one. Once they figured it out it was perfectly fine and they comped a round of drinks. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a huge deal. Overall I'd imagine next time going in we would get better service and it would be a 5 star experience. Will go back next time I'm in town. read more

My boyfriend and I went here yesterday, Sunday afternoon around 230pm, they weren't busy at all. We sat on the upstairs deck for 10 to 15 minutes with no one coming to wait on us. The waitresses were sitting at the bar on their phones, one was up front talking to the hostess who was sitting up front on the side where people would sit to wait to be seating playing on her phone as well. Phew, this was tough for me where I teetered from a 4 or 3 star. The place is in such a cute location and the set up is kind of like where i could envision retiring and hanging out after I get my boat. LOL I bet they still do pretty well with COVID since there is so much outdoor seating. They have a rather larger menu too and plenty of different seating areas. It appears as though they have a thermometer when arriving. I also called ahead of time but they said in order to make a reservation you would need to at least call 2 hours prior to when you would arrive. I bet this is also for just COVID regulations. It was just us two and we were driving from an hour away - you think that on a Sunday eve this could have been triaged on the phone call and accommodated. The vibe was cool. Yes, I just said vibe. I felt like I was at the beach which is huge for me. We were seated right away. My chair had a break in it so I switched it out quickly. We had a great view- see photo. We ordered mozzarella sticks but I would call them mozzarella half moons. I knew I wanted the lobster ravioli and I was so glad I ordered it because it was fantastic. Did not expect a little dockside beachy bar grill to have this type of game. I was definitely satisfied although there were some downsides. Parking was odd. It took a minute to be initially greeted by a waitress which is understandable during these times and my amazingly wonderful studly guy's dinner was not good at all. Once the sun went down i went from normal temp to shivering so for me that is tough to deal with. I think we were seated at the right time and got out just in time. Really had high hopes for this place and truth be told I really liked it at face value - indoor or deck/patio seating, seating and outdoor entertainment on the patio below, looked like a fun place to go. We were sat immediately on the back patio right near the bar area. It took quite awhile to be served which probably was due to low staff or a busy time. Ordered a water and Diet Pepsi and put in an order of fried mozzarella. This came out really fast and was good - marinara had a spice to it which wasn't expected, and was good. For the entree I as usual panicked and went with the chicken fresco - grilled chicken breast with mozzarella, pesto, tomato on a sub roll with fries. When it came out - again very quickly - the fries looked VERY OLD. Looking at the other pictures on this yelp they looked nothing like what I had. As for the chicken it was pretty much inedible. The chicken wasn't a breast, and looked like the last low-grade chicken parts that was in the bottom of the bin. Biting into each side of the sandwich was nothing but gristle, and the chicken was really disturbing looking and discolored. Also - there was only cheese on one part of the sandwich so when I turned it into a mozzarella tomato sandwich by taking off chicken, only half had cheese. The fries were also stale as I thought by looking at them. Our waitress was very nice and made the best effort to come back to us and keep things moving. I would recommend giving this place a shot - it has great reviews so maybe I was just an unfortunate casualty of an off night or mishandled order by the kitchen. During Covid, we lived on Cheat Lake and ordered pick up food. Might have been the crab shack before they changed the name again- not sure but with a Lobster as their brand/logo, we ordered the Lobster Roll, Shrimp and Calamari. They said to pick up in 25 mins. When my wife got there 25 mins later, she waited in her car another 20 mins. We heard sooooo much about this Lobster Roll, we had to try it. Being from New England and growing up near Portland Maine, we are quite used to Maine Lobster...this did not taste like sweet, Maine Lobster in the split top, toasted roll with lettuce, nor was it good.. It was surprisingly rubbery with no flavor. The Coconut Shrimp was RAW and we didn't bother with the Calamari, but it also looked under-cooked. What kind of cook serves that?? Wife called and asked for the manager. We were told we shouldn't complain about the food, nor should we tell anyone about our experience as we now have a "conflict of interest"... (wtf?) Eating outside by the water and boats was beautiful. The drinks are strong and the food is pretty descent. The ranch dressing tastes homemade and is very good; however, the fries are extremely salty. We came here with both dogs (golden and goldendoodle) when we had to leave the house for a showing so we sat on the patio. What a great atmosphere!!! We had already eaten so we just got drinks for ourselves (yummy, great selection) and ordered the dogs a kids burger that came with fries. The girls split the burger (they give it 5/5 stars!) We were passing through the area on Rt 68 on our way home to Virginia after spending the weekend in Ohio. Many times we passed by Cheat Lake and thought how pretty it was. We looked up restaurants and saw Dockside Bar and Grill listed and since it was a beautiful Fall day we thought it would be nice to have dinner with a view of the lake. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful view and the cozy atmosphere inside. We had a very friendly and attentive young man as our waiter. We ordered the crab dip and soft pretzel as an appetizer and the short rib ravioli and the crab stuffed salmon. Our food came quickly and was absolutely delicious! The portions were large and we brought home leftovers and are looking forward to having it again tomorrow. read more

Road tripping home and decided to stay near Cheat Lake in Morgantown, WV. Thought it would be perfect to have dinner at a marina on the water. The atmosphere was great! The food, as my guest said "It's dock food, they come for the drinks." The Buffalo Chicken Spinach Artichoke dip tasted like neither Buffalo chicken nor spinach artichoke dip. It was a whole bunch of ingredients with no distinguishing flavor. The chips and bread that came with it were the best part. We ate it but I wouldn't t order it again. The Margarita flatbread was ok. The bread was good but too puffy, the sauce was ok but both a little too spicy and a little too sweet at the same time. Certainly not a classic margarita with "fresh tomato sauce" . The pulled pork street tacos my guest had were interesting. A ton of meat, but heavily sauced. Lettuce, but it was big pieces of green leaf lettuce - in a street taco... I asked the server about the cheesecake waffle cone, just asking about it and the flavor available, and next thing I knew he brought it out. My guest was interested enough that we kept it but it wasn't what either of us expected. The waffle cone had an inner coating of white chocolate, the "cheesecake" was sweet cheesecake like filling piped into the cone, with more white chocolate and some sprinkles around the edge. Interesting concept, still needs work. The service was average at best. I think our server Wesley was more of an order taker and never actually to taught how to be a server; introduce yourself, offer specific items to get guests interested and order, upswell, drink refills...
