    Dockside Chicken & Waffle
    Michael G.

Came here for brunch over the weekend with some out of town friends. First impression was that the parking situation is terrible. We ate inside and still had a nice view of the marina. The inside seating area was pretty cool. They had a good amount of TV's hanging from the walls and a decent sized bar off to my left. My Brunch Burger was great! It was a big burger with bacon, egg, tomato, and garlic aioli on it. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and seasoned very well! Girlfriend got the Chicken and Waffles. She asked for the waffles on a separate plate and that did not happen. Her waffles came out smothered in gravy and soggy, so she asked the waitress if they could remake those. Waitress came out shortly after with one waffle... When we got the bill the waitress actually charged her for that waffle that she asked to be remade. She did remove it from the bill after we asked about it. Lastly, I got a water at the beginning of my experience when I first sat down. That water was not refilled once the entire time I was there. I was eating ice chips while eating my burger. I asked for more water "when you get a chance" once early on and she told me she'll be right back. Food was good, but 3 stars because below average service and the parking lot setup is not the best.

My cheese sticks were cold, the burger was burnt, service was slow, and the beer wasn't particularly cold. I would avoid this place as much as possible.

    Enjoying Brunch!

The atmosphere was spot on with a table right near the water! Quick service in seating us and just as quick with the beverage delivery. We decided quickly to settle on the pancakes and waffle & chicken platters. It was enjoyable waiting for the food to be delivered as we got to enjoy the open air atmosphere and dockside table near the water. The food came out pretty quick for scratch made entrees. Dockside Chicken & Waffle had two smaller Belgian waffles with a fried chicken breast, ,county style bacon, deliciously creamy sausage gravy with a touch of pancake syrup, accompanied by Home Fries. The pancakes were the traditional 3 pancake Good Old Stack with butter and syrup. .Everything was delicious, well prepared and nicely presented. Will definitely be back again!

Always love eating brunch here. It is by the lake and it's just a very chill vibe. It can be loud at times but you can still talk amongst yourselves. The service can be a little slow at times if they are busy. The food is good for brunch food as well as the cocktails. Definitely will come again!

Incredible food and view! We got the nachos and some sandwiches for lunch. Awesome spot to watch a game or just enjoy the lake. I cannot recommend the nachos enough. Cocktails aren't bad either. The service was pretty brutal as the waitresses created a dead zone with us and another table so it took 30 mins to flag down a waitress, finally had to go talk to the hostess to get one. Once they figured it out it was perfectly fine and they comped a round of drinks. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a huge deal. Overall I'd imagine next time going in we would get better service and it would be a 5 star experience. Will go back next time I'm in town.

Still waiting for silverware for the mashed potatoes and green beans. Poor service, one glass of water, no condiments, no napkins.

Horrible service, still waiting on silverware, napkins, condiments and refills on our drinks. Half the food came when most had already finished their dinner. Extra plate arrive after we were done. Waited 20+ minutes for the waitress to check on us again and to bring us our check.

Eating outside by the water and boats was beautiful. The drinks are strong and the food is pretty descent. The ranch dressing tastes homemade and is very good; however, the fries are extremely salty. Even my kids complained. Everything else was delicious and we would return, just probably wouldn't get the fries again.

Phew, this was tough for me where I teetered from a 4 or 3 star. The place is in such a cute location and the set up is kind of like where i could envision retiring and hanging out after I get my boat. LOL I bet they still do pretty well with COVID since there is so much outdoor seating. They have a rather larger menu too and plenty of different seating areas. It appears as though they have a thermometer when arriving. I also called ahead of time but they said in order to make a reservation you would need to at least call 2 hours prior to when you would arrive. I bet this is also for just COVID regulations. It was just us two and we were driving from an hour away - you think that on a Sunday eve this could have been triaged on the phone call and accommodated. The vibe was cool. Yes, I just said vibe. I felt like I was at the beach which is huge for me. We were seated right away. My chair had a break in it so I switched it out quickly. We had a great view- see photo. We ordered mozzarella sticks but I would call them mozzarella half moons. I knew I wanted the lobster ravioli and I was so glad I ordered it because it was fantastic. Did not expect a little dockside beachy bar grill to have this type of game. I was definitely satisfied although there were some downsides. Parking was odd. It took a minute to be initially greeted by a waitress which is understandable during these times and my amazingly wonderful studly guy's dinner was not good at all. Once the sun went down i went from normal temp to shivering so for me that is tough to deal with. I think we were seated at the right time and got out just in time. Oh, and we were in the middle of two loud speakers playing two different songs so for me that was like ADHD central.

However, we realized…read morethere was going to be some interesting developments when the server came by and he seemed a little nervous, but that's understandable. In any case we placed our orders, I ordered the breakfast platter special, which was fried chicken and biscuits with country sausage gravy my wife ordered the eggs Benedict my daughter for her birthday ordered the French toast with two eggs and my son ordered the chicken and waffles. Talking first about the chicken and waffles. I've come to see that many locations offer chicken and waffles. This being about average for what I would consider chicken and waffles as it was a small filet cut in a half upon a very thin flat waffle, which would've done better to be a Belgian waffle with a much fluffier plump chicken filet. My son did enjoy it but when he finished it the server came by and he says did you enjoy that? Was it good, it must've been good because you ate everything! Then let's discuss my wife's eggs Benedict, which she thoroughly loved. However, the ham looked like it was sliced deli ham for a sandwich instead of Canadian bacon or a little thicker slice of country ham. It's not my call, as my wife said she enjoyed it. My daughter enjoyed her stuffed French toast and egg. Everything was cooked to her liking and she said it had a good flavor and of all four dishes that certainly was the best of the four. as for the last dish, my Sriracha sausage gravy, fried chicken and biscuit with home fries, the jury is still out as the home fries came out a little overdone and cold. The sausage gravy looks like somebody spread it on with a paintbrush, and it wasn't very warm. The chicken was warm and did taste good and the biscuit was good, but it made no sense when the server said, it comes smothered in sausage gravy. Take a look at the picture, and it looks more like a couple tablespoons of gravy on each biscuit with the chicken. We did have a good time and the ambience of the place was very nice, especially seated along the windows looking at the snow outside and perhaps we'll give it another shot at a later date. Overall, nothing over the top but nothing to make us fear coming back either. It was just kind of middle of the road, but I am glad that the nicest dish and the best presentation went to my daughter for her 20th birthday. At least that was a saving grace as well as the lunch with the movie, listening to the various antics and chatter coming from the server.

It took a while for the bartender to come over to me and give me a menu. I ordered the french martini and asked if there was a food menu available. She said they didn't serve food until later in the day, even though the online menu said otherwise. My martini was great. Service was subpar. She set my martini on the edge of the bar and I had to go up and get it- no big deal, I just thought it was odd since they weren't busy. As I walked in, I was quickly greeted by the bar back and the young lady assisted with my takeout order. Others at the bar appear to have been enjoying their time and drink. Now to the wings, I ordered buffalo wings with a side of Thai sauce. The wings were heavily breaded and could've used more seasoning. The Thai sauce might've been better tossed with the wings. Our waitress, Brooke, was new but she was extremely knowledgeable and took good care of us. She recommended the Corona wings. She said they were a dry rub and described them as not being spicy but having a lot of flavor. They were fantastic! I got 10 BIG wings, and they came out extra crispy without me having to ask. It is worth it to upgrade to the Brew Fries for an extra $0.50! There is a ton of covered outdoor seating with a large TV on the wall. The inside has a great bar and gives the vibe of an old time bar with the lighting, but everything has been updated and it is very clean. Brooke explained to us that their wing night is on Thursdays, where they offer $0.89 wings. Monday is steak night, and Wednesday at 7:00pm is Trivia. After 10 wings (not on wing night), a Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and two sides of Brew Fries, our total came to $35. Much cheaper than other places around Morgantown! I was much more impressed with SS than I was with Kegler's. We will be back!
