I stayed at the Grande Pensão for my short weekend trip over to Lisbon this past year, and it was great for the price point.
The hotel is located very close to the start of Tram 28 and the main neighborhoods of Lisbon. Stairs were everywhere so if you are differently abled, it may be challenging to impossible to stay in this hotel.
Staff were on site 24/7 and were very friendly. The check-in process was seamless and I got my room key right away.
I stayed on the "first" floor (which is above the check-in/lobby floor) in a queen-bed room. It had the basics including a comfortable bed, enough outlets to charge items, a clean desk and closet, TV, and a heating/AC unit. My view was of the construction site inside so I kept my curtain mostly closed throughout my stay.
Perhaps it's due to the piping in the hotel, but my room honestly carried a stench that I had to get used to during my visit. I almost wish I had requested some potpurri to help mend the stench a bit but overtime I managed. If you're not okay with weird smells (and who would be??), definitely bring it up if it's something you notice.
Overall, a decently comfortable stay at an affordable hotel near the prime tourist spots of Lisbon. read more
