We got the sampler appetizer here to go. It was pretty good! The sampler had a cheese quesadilla, chicken flaunts, chimichangas, and jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon. Salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and enchilada sauce was included with the meal. I split this with my husband. After not eating all day, we were starving and gobbled it all up. At first I was bummed my husband order so many fried things. But, after trying everything, I was satisfied. I will say the flautas needed more salt and I wish the enchilada sauce was more favorable. But, I would definitely come back here and order an actual meal and margarita! read more

Food was bomb! The salsa verde enchiladas were 10/10. The rice and black beans were spot on at 10/10 and the chips and salsa were 9/10 only because I felt the chips could have been a little less hard. I will definitely be coming back for taco Tuesday! I stopped for lunch at Grande Mexico in Amesbury very recently. This restaurant & cantina space was a former Papa Gino's. There was also a former Acapulco's only two spaces down in this same plaza which is a regional chain of Mexican restaurants in eastern MA and CT. This is the second Grande Mexico location in the Merrimack Valley with their original restaurant & bar located only 15 minutes away in Haverhill/Plaistow NH. Like the other location, they offer Taco Tuesday with 75 cent Tacos (hard shell chicken or beef) with drink purchase, which I've taken advantage of many times in Haverhill and it's very popular there with waits to be seated. This Mexican restaurant & cantina is located in the Carriagetown Marketplace at the crossroads of I-495 and I-95. Since it was a sunny weekeday afternoon, the place was not too busy and I opted for outside dining in front of the restaurant. There were several tables with umbrellas spaced at least 6 feet apart. The menu offers the standard fare of Mexican dishes, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, nachos, and a few lunch specials (served until 3pm). The prices here seem reasonable and comparable to other Mexican places in the area. After 3 minutes seating myself at an outside table, my server brought out a complementary basket of chips and salsa. The corn tortilla chips were warm and crunchy. The tomato salsa was medium strength. For lunch, I ordered the Lunch Steak Fajitas ($10.79 plus tax) which came with Mexican rice (cooked right this time), cotja cheese, Mexican flag (pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce) 3 soft tortillas (I chose corn) and a generous portion of seasoned grilled steak, peppers, & onions. The pieces of steak were cooked well and on the chewy side, but the food was still had good flavors. I needed a box for my food to eat for later. The service I had was acceptable and my food and ice water was brought out in timely order. I will say that they need to update their prices on their printed menus since the Lunch Fajitas (steak or chicken) was priced at $9.99 and the check with a new price indicated $10.79 plus tax ($11.55 total), still a good value. Overall, I would return to Grande Mexico whenever I'm hungry for Mexican food and riding from the Seacoast. read more

This is my second time here and both experiences were fantastic. First was Cristalis. During a heatwave she was as cool as a cucumber.She has personality for days and expert service. We sat outside on our first visit under the umbrella. Service was flawless. She has transferred to the new location . You can't tell by the expert service and food this is a new restaurant,they had a seamless transition from one location to the other. Second visit we had Bartender Jen . Although seating at the bar itself is not permitted because of the pandemic you are allowed to sit in the bar area and watch the tv while dining in a temperature controlled environment. Jen while making drinking for the entire restaurant also gave us expert service with meal recommendations.The drinks were spot on. Meals both times have me looking forward to my next visit. There is a main dining area that has the CDC dividers to keep all safe. Yes the entire staff is wearing masks at all times. I even saw the chef wearing one while cooking. All precautions were taken. The food here is Grande!! Eaten here a number of times and they're consistently good. Have also done take away while I did my grocery shopping. Tuesday is Taco Tuesday night if you dine in. They offer a special on hard shell tacos when you order a beverage, otherwise you don't get the same deal. Service was good and they were busy! Despite being busy you can still enjoy a conversation with your friends when dining in. read more

I have some work in this area and found myself at a hotel not far from Grande Mexico. I am a fan of Mexican food and saw this location near and decided to try. I ordered a cold beer and some chicken taquitos to start and they were very good. Unique in that they weren't shredded chicken, more like chicken tenders wrapped in fried tortilla. I ordered the steak fajitas which were flavorful and if I had to complain I would only say, the corn tortillas were a little rubbery. The location was clean and had a bar area and restaurant area so would. E find with kids. Servers were attentive and friendly. Even the chips were stale and look to have been cooked on oil that needs to be cleaned or changed- I feel like I should drop off some cumin, cayenne and paprika, garlic powder and onion powder- just as like a good deed. We got sat right away the ambiance is very nice and clean. Staff is very nice and attending to us. We ordered Grande Nachos those were good. The fajita burrito wow it had so much flavor the steak seasoned perfectly not to salty or bland,perfect. The steak and the veggies inside the burrito was so tender and juicy yum. My son had the crunch wrap he loved it big and fat crunchy. My daughter had the steak tacos she loved them perfect as well. We ordered drinks from the bar they were a bit too strong for my liking. The only downfall I didn't like was the bar does not have a blender which is necessary if your ordering Piña Colada but I couldn't finish it it was way to much rum than the mix or juice. Won't be getting that again. But other than that the food was perfect. I would like to mention the restrooms were amazingly clean spotless it was so clean I was very impressed. I visited Grande Mexico last Saturday night before the fireworks in NBPT for Yankee Homecoming. We arrived, a party of five, and were immediately seated in the bar. The staff pulled tables together for us and were most attentive. The service was outstanding. We were served quickly and were able to make it back in time for the fireworks. I had a double Margarita and Chili Relleno. Both were excellent'. I live in Amesbury, walk by the restaurant many times, and do not stop in. Now I will. All of my friends who are not from Amesbury travel to come to Grande Mexico. I am so happy to have an great Mexican restaurant in Amesbury. read more

I've been a fan of their location in Plaistow for many years. Taco Tuesday is the best! I've eaten at the Amesbury location a few times and had good luck. This last week, however, it was quite bad. To be clear, the fault lays entirely on the kitchen staff. The servers were great and apologetic about what was going on in the kitchen. The chips and salsa came out quickly. Yay! They were quite good. It went downhill from there, however. We ordered basic chicken and beef tacos from the special board. We waited 40+ minutes for our order to be delivered. When it arrived, the food was not warm. Two of the tacos had several 1.5 inch chicken bones in them. Others had 1/2 inch globs of chicken cartilage in them. Not good. Clearly the meat had not been properly cleaned. Then another taco had about a 2x2 inch onion skin in it (if you think this is trivial, I dare you to find a 2x2 inch foreign substance in your food and just laugh it off...it was gross and had no business being in a taco). The guy at the table next to us ordered his food with "no cheese." Yet it arrived with cheese on it. It took him a good 30 minutes to get a replacement meal. In the end, I felt bad for the wait staff. They were doing the best they could with a sub-par kitchen. I encourage the management to take a hard look at their kitchen staff. They are really doing you a disservice. read more

Went in this evening to try some place new.....will never return. Had 3 bar tenders on duty sat at a high top table right in front of the bar and no acknowledgement for ten minutes. I've never written a review on here before but this place was so awful I had to write. We stopped in for lunch the other day, as we were in the area and noticed they had some outdoor seating. Unfortunately the good Mexican food we were looking for wasn't found here The rice and beans were terrible, tasteless, and nearly cold. The tacos too were without any seasoning and the sauces were horrible. My friend got a Margarita and couldn't taste any alcohol in it. Though we did get our chips and salsa, which were good, the rest of the service was questionable. Our food was brought to the table but we weren't given cutlery, or sauce. I went in to try to get some but no one was at the front desk, so the food sat until she came back outside. A different server brought our check and they did remove the sides from the check, which was nice, but I feel it was all a waste of money. Because I didn't want to leave cash on the table outside, and no one came to collect the check I ran in to pay it. As we made it to the vehicle we noticed our server running after us. She claimed we didn't pay for meal. You'd think they would communicate with one another before making an accusation like that to a customer. This place was just terrible all around. We've asked for so many things and the waitress (as sweet as she is) has completely forgotten it, even though we've asked multiple times. Was in the area for a meeting and we found ourselves seeking lunch. Was happy to find this spot. Food and service were both great. I had a chicken burrito bowl and my father had a chimichanga. Both good size portions and tasty. I noticed they have lunch specials til 3 also, but we missed those by a few minutes.
