We have been going to Machiko for 6 months now for piano after a school friend referral. As a parent, I really enjoy the fact that it is an hour long with several teachers rotating among the students and then allowing them to work on a new concept before coming back to them. It's right on Sepulveda but drop off and pick up are quick and seamless.

She's a talented little star. I wanted to surprise her with a special gift, and buy piano lessons, mixed with art lessons, so she can have the best of both worlds. I emailed Machiko after extensive research, and finding a location that is closest to my niece's home. Machiko responded right away, and supplied me with the information needed, set up the gift certificate options to reflect both piano, and art, for 4 months. Great price. I heard feedback from my niece after the first lesson; she was so excited. Machiko also accommodated my niece's busy schedule with school, softball, and dance. I'm happy that this all worked out, and looking forward to seeing my niece perform at her first recital. Thanks again Machiko

Ilana knows the Art World inside-out and is brilliant in how she pulls just the right Art Book out of her library to help demonstrate an idea or direction to the whole class or to an individual artist, especially when we're stuck and need help to move forward. As a new student, Ilana will take you from wherever you are artistically and help you find your own direction, style, and voice. Her patience is amazing and her knowledge is even more amazing! I went on a search for an art class where I could learn to explore art abstraction and new media. To my great advantage, I learned of ILANA BLOCH. Her knowledge of art history and the current art scene is keen and accurate. Combined with an uncanny people sensitivity and "computer mind" my own artistic output has grown exponentially! Her small classes (in an intimate, well-equipped studio) comprise students of all skill levels. I marvel at how she guides each person so personally...geared directly to the individual. You'd be lucky to score a spot in one of her classes!

My husband and I took a semi private class here on a weekend, I forget if it was Saturday or Sunday…read moremorning, but we each paid $80 and had a two hour class. Our teacher, Megs was great, but could have explained the process a bit better. She more showed us and had us follow by example, sometimes jumping in and taking over for us when things got out of hand, like our clay being totally off center and wobbling horribly on the electric wheel. We both made two ceramic pieces, but had to pay an additional $10 each to have those fired in the kiln. The $80 we paid covered the one piece we were allowed and the extra $10 was for the additional piece we made that we requested to be fired in the kiln. I didn't like how we couldn't come back and fix up our pieces, like sand it down and glaze it. I was really looking forward to glazing our pieces, but we could only look at a wall full of color choices and write ours down to have it painted by someone else and fired. Full-Circle said they would call us in about a month to come pick it up. It's been a month, and they did just email us to pick up our pieces, showing us a photo of both of ours. Unfortunately, we couldn't pick it up before Hanukkah, and my husband wanted to gift his mom a handmade ceramic piece, but it wasn't done in time. We really like how close the studios is to our home. We could have walked there but left the house late that morning, so we drove. We got lunch at the taco place next door afterwards. We had free street parking that day so it must have been a Sunday. We enjoyed our pottery class and would pay to be members, but it's too expensive, so a single class will do for now.

Hands down the best!…read more From the moment you walk in, you can feel the welcoming, creative energy. The community here is supportive, friendly, and full of inspiration. One of the best parts of joining as a member is the extra attention and guidance you receive from the owner, Patty--she takes time during your first week to review your goals and special projects, which makes such a difference. The classes are outstanding -- and affordable! You can explore everything from making handles, soy sauce vessels, and teapots to learning how to throw larger pieces. The class sizes are never too packed, so you actually get personal attention while still learning in a relaxed, fun group environment. Whether you're learning centering, trimming, or glazing techniques, the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and patient. I've learned more here in a few weeks than I did in months elsewhere. They even offer "field" trips where we've gone and done raku and pit fire. It's a great group. Full Circle Pottery truly lives up to its name -- it's a place where your creativity, skills, and community all come full circle.

Born to do art, forced to write emails...I know I've been saying this a lot (especially w/all the…read moregreat businesses I've found lately), but seriously I'm so happy this place exists. ARTime BARRO is part pottery studio, part community space, and is a relaxing, chill place where you can unleash the creativity you thought was dead, where your artistic spirit gets to come out to play, if only for just a little bit of time in this crazy world. On a recent weekend, I had the opportunity to take the One-Time Class, which is a one-hour course designed for complete beginners. You get to make two pieces, one by hand at the table and one on the pottery wheel. The class size was small (just 5 people) and we got great 1:1 instruction and guidance from our knowledgeable instructor Max. I've always wanted to try the wheel and was surprised how hard it was to use it but it was such a great experience that I think everyone should try at least once. After you sculpt your pieces, you are invited to come back to hand paint (glaze) your work at no additional cost. You can also have them do a one-color glaze for you, but after I saw all the multi-colored pieces of other folks previous to me, it was no contest to decide that I wanted to color my pieces myself. You have up to 3 months to come back to glaze so it's very doable in anyone's busy LA (corporate) lifestyle. Pricing was very reasonable for such a cool bespoke experience. There are a lot of pottery painting studios (e.g. Color Me Mine) but this is awesome bc you get to make the pottery AND color it later! I've already recommended this place to countless people!

Our instructor was friendly and gave clear directions on how to mold our pieces. We each made 2 pieces, so the one hour really flew by. We had the option to come back to glaze our pieces or have the studio glaze them for us, and opted for the latter. There's a small lot behind the building, but it was full when I went. It wasn't difficult to find free street parking on a Sunday evening in this area. The pottery pieces could use a bit of extra care in handling (my wheel-thrown piece had rough edges and a random piece stuck on that wasn't there initially, and the glazing didn't look thorough on my other piece), but overall I was happy with my pieces. This was a fun experience, and worth the value!
