We stayed at Grand Palladium White Sand for a week (for a wedding), and it was mostly good! The check-in process was simple, and I really liked that the wristbands were also the room keys. Between all the connecting resorts, the property was massive, and a little tricky to navigate at first. Luckily, it was pretty easy getting a golf cart to your destination, if you didn't feel like walking. We spent a lot of time at the White Sands and Colonial pools, which both had swim-up bars. The beach was also nice, although there was some seaweed, and parts were restricted due to the presence of lionfish. Our room was very spacious, and I loved the rain shower head. There was also a separate bathtub/jacuzzi, but we never got around to using that. The bed was comfortable and having a little balcony was nice. We did wake up to a leak in our ceiling one morning, but they impressively quick about getting that fixed. The food situation was hit and miss. The buffets had a huge selection, but the quality of the food really varied. They were also open/closed at odd times, and it was strangely difficult to find food at some points in the day. The Xtra Time Sports Bar was open 24 hours a day, but the food there was actually just bad. We managed to make dinner reservations for most nights, although many of the restaurants booked up very quickly. We tried Poseidon, Bahia e Brasa, Portofino, and La Paisana. Sumptori was apparently the most popular restaurant, but we ended up missing that reservation. Poseidon was nice because it was on the beach, but none of the food was all that great. My favorite of the restaurants was probably Portofino, but the pastas were a lot better than the pizzas. The best thing about the food was the availability of fresh fruit and other healthy options. The resort also had a nice gym and spa area. I got my hair done for the wedding, but I can't say I recommend this service. First off, my blowout cost $115 USD, which was insane. Once the stylist had washed and blow dried my hair, she said that curling/styling wasn't included in the price of a blowout, only a straight dry. She ended up hastily curling my hair as a favor, but it really wasn't the best. The wildlife on the resort property was one of the highlights of our stay! There were so many iguanas, coati, raccoons, agouti, etc. wandering around. I did get bitten by an iguana (my own fault entirely), and the staff was amazing about providing first aid. The medical services office was also fantastic and had a great doctor on staff. Overall, the wedding was beautiful and we enjoyed our experience at Grand Palladium White Sand. read more

Our stay at this all-inclusive resort was extremely disappointing from the start.Check-in took an unreasonably long time. The receptionist appeared to be in training and had no support. She repeatedly left the desk to ask coworkers questions and even forgot to activate our bracelets for room access. After finally getting to our room, we had to return to the front desk to have the bracelets activated. Transportation around the resort was frustrating. Golf carts refused to give us rides when we asked, despite carts being available. Instead, we were told to wait for other rides to come. Dinner reservations were another major issue. Guests are required to wake up early and be at the desk before 8 a.m. to make reservations for the following day. Same-day reservations are not allowed. If you don't show up at exactly 8 a.m., you're told everything is fully booked--yet the restaurants were consistently about 80% empty. To make things worse, one beachfront restaurant was completely closed. Large areas of the resort were off-limits, which made the experience feel far from "all-inclusive." The resort advertises access and amenities that are actually very restricted once you arrive. The beach was very rocky and not swimmable. A lifeguard told us to move to an area with flags, only for that area to be off-limits to guests staying at White Sands. It made no sense to direct us somewhere we weren't allowed to be. Even basic purchases were frustrating. At the gift shop, they wouldn't accept USD due to lack of change, then took Mexican pesos but still claimed they had no change. We ended up leaving the change just to complete the purchase. A shop operating without change is unacceptable. Overall, staff throughout the resort came across as rude and unhelpful. For the price and expectations of an all-inclusive experience, this resort fell far short. We will continue staying at Hilton resorts instead. Not sure why we even bothered with this one, and we do not recommend it. read more

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. They constantly try to upcharge you for everything, and it feels like a scam from the moment you arrive. The food was absolutely terrible and very limited. To make matters worse, all the restaurants shut down around 10-11 Am, so if you're hungry after that, you're out of luck and you're already paying a premium price! The most heartbreaking part was what they did to our friends' wedding. Just one week before their big day, the hotel told them they could no longer have their reception on the beach because it was suddenly "under construction." Imagine planning your dream wedding only to be blindsided days before--it was devastating and completely unprofessional. Beach was awful they don't clean it!!and if you want access to the pools you seen online get ready to pay even! Just for more mediocre food! If you're considering this hotel, think twice. My husband and I chose this property to celebrate our 24th anniversary, expecting a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, our experience was far from what we anticipated. After an early morning flight and a long travel day, we arrived at the resort only to face an unnecessarily difficult check-in process. Despite waiting until 3:30 PM for our room, we had to follow up ourselves to find out if it was even ready. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a resort of your caliber. Once we finally entered our room, we were met with an overwhelming odor, like mold, stained furniture, a sliding door off its frame, and an overall lack of upkeep. I nearly fell due to the room's condition, and given my health concerns, the stress of this situation triggered my seizure. To make matters worse, when we requested assistance, we were met with indifference from the staff. The concierge was unhelpful, no manager was available, and we were even asked to pay for a room change despite the unacceptable state of our accommodations. Beyond the room, the resort's dining experience was also frustrating. Restaurant menus lacked clear descriptions of the food being served, and the front desk staff could not provide helpful information--aside from pushing additional charges and timeshare presentations. We have visited many resorts in the past, and we have never experienced such poor service, lack of accountability, and disregard for guest comfort. This experience has been deeply disappointing, and we will not be returning to this resort in the future. All beautiful on the outside but rooms are falling apart. Such a beautiful place with photos far beyond what you will receive when you visit. My husband and I attended a designation wedding in this resort for 8 nights. Photos of mine of the 1st room condition were posted. If you have not learned to provide fitted sheets for the beds, provide a functioning telephone in the room, insure that light switches and drainage (both sink and tub) work, and provide you primarily English speaking guests with sufficiently English speaking staff, please do not advertise this as a 5 star Resort. Grand Palladium White sands was an amazing hotel! I got married here a couple weeks ago and it was almost perfect. Service and amenities were great, we got a bungalow by the lake, it was beautiful! Outdoor shower, AC and everything we needed. Our wedding planner Elsa is amazing and made sure everything for our wedding was exactly how we wanted. Shoutout to our bartenders and everyone who made the experience fantastic. Only reason I'm not giving this place five stars is the reservation for restaurants was not convenient at all. We couldn't get any reservations after attempting multiple times through the app and with the concierge. Horrible hotel. After 5 months of trying to get any customer service response I have decided to share these photos and my experience because I can't get a return email or call. Room was filthy, maids never came to clean when we checked in, the drawer had used cough drops in it. This during covid is insane. Management never contacted us during our stay despite calling the front desk several times. Could only get 9pm dinner reservations and when we showed up at 845 they had shut the buffet down at the Brazilian restaurant and it was empty. Pool staff handed us a bottle and said pour own drinks. 3 STARS Came here with my little family for a one week vacation at Grand palladium white sands. Pools and bars are nice and they are pretty much at every resort (there are three resorts in one plus adult section only). The beaches were very rocky and you need to walk further down the other end to have a better walk to the waters. Downloading the app to reserve seats at restaurants were super easy. There are some which you aren't able to book thru the app, but if you go to the lobby there is a person there to help book those special restaurants for you. Food was meh, I expected it to be better, but there is something for everyone and you won't starve. Room is outdated, but beds are comfortable. Service is top notch, no complaints. We were guests at TRS and walked over here for dinner, drinks, and entertainment. They also have a much larger gift shop here than at TRS which is only fancy jewelry. The walk to this lobby is a bit deceiving because if you just walk out past the lobby on the cobblestoned street, it's about 2 minutes walk, but if you walk through the lobby into the back pool area and take the paths it's 5-10 minutes to be in the lobby. I love the lobbies in all four of these hotels - they are large and open-air and welcoming and beautiful and tropical with water and walkways and tons of life. We ate at the La Lola Spanish Tapas restaurant here during our 7-night stay and I absolutely hated it. There were not enough staff and our one waiter was so harried and rushed that I felt guilty asking him 5x for my sweet tea drink that he took about 35 minutes to bring... the food was awful and was all meat and potatoes with no veggies and a sad help yourself cheese bar. Absolutely unappealing. Dessert was also awful. Big disappointment as far as meals... This is also where the COVID testing was taking place for our travel back to the US - it was easy to schedule via a QR code and cost around $25 per person. Staff were efficient and friendly and we were able to quickly and easily do our test and get our results in no time. Let me just be honest, frank, and to-the-point. This place is not the place to stay. Period and end of story. Clarity is everything the Grand Palladium certainly lacks clear, definitive, and straight forward answers. The misdirection and untruths were endless (we"ll have a private tram just for our building so we won't have to wait, a nice view, top notch amenities, great room service, etc). None of that was true. How we got here: The hubs and I came to GPWS (Grand Palladium White Sands) to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. All of that has been fabulous, but honey, this resort is a blazing hot mess. As for booking my stay over the phone, all was well. Had a great experience, things were smooth and felt normal. The Resort: THIS resort is an entire shame. Our original booking was for a beachside Jr. Suite, so during checkin as I'm asking questions and listening to the woman beside me at the next counter griping about how her beachside had no beach view (huh???), I then inquire with the clerk about the view. He tells me that "it's beachside only, not beach view". How misleading is that? Now my antlers are up, and I'm feeling anxious about this experience. Not only am I waiting for the clerk to check everything, make a million calls, and have my hubs and I offer a million signatures throughout this process, we're also standing there sweating like maniacs. It's eight thousand degrees outside, and their lobby is an open lobby, so no air conditioning. We're standing there hungry, thirsty, irritable, and sweaty. We get over the fact that our room is "beachside" and not a "beach view", so we proceed. After an hour plus, we finally are heading to our room on a tram might I add. We walk into our room and it is a HUGE no. There's no tv by the couch, but in the other side of the room, it's old and run down, smells bad, and it's hot and humid. There's no air!!!!! A swamp cooler type of setup. You're kidding!! Oh no! Of course I call, call, and call the front desk only to get the run around. I had to wait outside, be greeted by 4 possums and some weird rats while waiting for the tram to get back to the lobby. I let the hubs stay in the room because he was over it and had nothing left to give. I finally make it to the lobby, explain my disappointment, and take them up on the TRS upgrade (their luxury building). I checkin, wait another hour for them to change arrangements, go get my husband and our luggage on the tram, only to arrive at the TRS lobby and have to check in again. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? (there's just got to be a more efficient way-- why is this checkin so long? Freaking overkill!) They asked for our info all over again: ridiculous! We finally got to our room, it was decent. They claim luxury, but not at all. Simply a better room, that's it. The air worked, that's what mattered. Food Scene: As for food-- everything on the resort was free (and for a reason). The food was not great. Very cafeteria-like. The room service was exceptionally subpar and took over an hour to arrive to our room each time. I could complain further, but I'll stop here. Ok I'm giving this 2 stars only because the butlers (Emanuel & Nissi) were wonderful during our stay, and the food was okay. Other than that it would be zero stars. Front desk staff was HORRIBLE. They con you into paying more when you check in by telling you that unless you purchase VIP, you will not be able to enjoy the resort and can only eat at the buffets. We found this to be false after we paid an additional $640 usd. Also the $1500 resort credit is a JOKE. It basically is just a coupon book to try to get you to spend more money. The grounds are dated and need upgrades (cracked tiles, rough walkways). You pretty much have to take a golf cart everywhere you go. The rooms are ok...we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, however we paid for beachside...which is very misleading because there was a whole jungle between us and the beach. The bathtub was broken, the hot water only worked part of the time, the toilet didn't flush right and our screen door was off the rails. The main pool at White Sands was nice. The swim up bar was fun and the bartenders kept the drinks flowing. However if you are looking for a party atmosphere this is not it. The vibe was pretty boring so we had to create our own fun. We brought a speaker with us thank goodness. Although we made the most of it, we definately will not come back. read more

I am seriously in love with this place!! The resort itself is beautiful and very well kept. There were always staff tending to the landscaping. What I loved most were the staff at the resort, from the front desk staff, to the housekeepers, to the activities staff (POP)! To start off, upon arrival we were greated very nicely. After a few minutes at the desk, staff brought us over two drinks, which were amazing. We were given the option to choose another room if we did not like the king size bed. I thought that was very accomadating. Our bags were then loaded into a cart and we were driven to our room. The staff brought both of our bags to our room for us and asked us if we needed anything else before leaving. We loved our room. It looked exactly like we saw in the pictures. The only issue initially was there was no kleenix or wash cloths, so we had to call for that. Downfall to the room was the lack of privacy. As soon as you walk out of the toilet room or the shower room, youre in the bedroom. So there is no where to get dressed that's private. They had a safe in the room, with lots of hangers and drawers if you wanted to put your things away. Room comes full stocked with a mini fridge, which they restock each day. Over the next few days at the resort, we enjoyed a lot of what the resort had to offer, not to mention we had access to the two other resorts on the property. We enjoyed the fitness center which had all pretty new equipment. We took advantage of the spa and got an 80 minute massage. By booking a massage, you got access to the rest of the spa, including the sauna, steam room, hydromassage, rock walk, swan neck therapy, lazy river, and the adult pool. We also did the archery and riffle shooting while at the resort. What i loved most were all the activites available on the property at no additonal cost, ping pong, shuffle board, mini golf, basketball, tennis, volleyball, corn hole, and all non motorized water sports. They also had activites put on by the staff such as fruit decorating, drink making, guacamole tasting, etc. There are several pools throughout the different resorts, and the best part is that you have access to them all. Only downfall, is that they all close at 6pm. At the Colonial & kenetah resort, they have flamingos & alligators. Between being able to experience all three resorts you felt like you were going to a different resort because each one had their own different design and feel. The rooms are pretty well landlocked, so most are just a garden view, so that was another downfall, not having an ocean view. They have so many restaurants, two of which you have to have a reservation for. There are buffets for breakfast and lunch. There is literally no way you could ever go hungry or thirsty at this resort. They also have room service available at no charge from 11a-11p. The evenings were absolutely amazing. They had amazing shows put on each night at 9pm, and typically following a little party or activity like karaoke put on by the POP. The shows were something like you would go pay for to see. I would recommend getting to the theatre early to grab a good seat. I wish we knew the show schedule. Whether you are at the pool or the theatre there was always someone near to service you for drinks. I will say a downfall is they make VERY weak drinks. Its nice they offer a shuttle service to be taken to different parts of the resort or to the other two. I will say that the resorts are all pretty big so there is A LOT of walking. It was easy to start walking and just catch one on the way to whereever you were going. There were a lot of stairs and bridges which didn't seem elderly or kid friendly. I saw lots of parents partnering up to carry strollers up and down the bridges. The resort had sooooo many wildlife. I learned what a Coati was and some of the other creatures, Im still not sure what they are called but they were stinkin cute Overall we had a great stay. There was so much to see and do that we never had to leave the resort. I made friends with some of the POP. They were the highlight of my trip. They always had different activites going on and were all so friendly. Adriana seemed to be an excellent supervisor. Daniel did great at zumba class. Claudia was great at running ping pong. Igor was so hyper and made every activity so much fun! Oliver, Xiemenna, Celeste, Abraham, Clara, and so many more did an awesome job putting on the foam party. Diego was excellent at salsa class! I was sad to say goodbye to them all, but am hopeful when I return many will still be there! Biggest downfall was constantly being bothered by the Travel Club members or Zentopia Spa staff to get you to sign up. You literally couldnt walk through the lobby or the pool are without being approached. And many of them dont get that "No" means NO! You could be laying out at the pool and someone from the spa would approach to try to get you to sign up for a massage. read more

This service and experience at the resort was completely appalling during our week-- Especially during the holiday season. 1) 2 weeks prior to arriving at the resort, we began calling, emailing, and using the chat feature on the GP website in order to connect with a concierge to make dinner reservations for our party of 6 during our stay. We received no contact back or response on the other end. My sister in law finally reached someone on the phone after many days of trying to connect. The response was "you can make reservations for the week once you arrive at the resort. The concierge can help you with all of this". -Upon our arrival, we were told there were no available reservations for the next two days, and to come back on Sunday (arrived Friday) to make reservations for the rest of the week. We tried to walk into restaurants and even give generous tips to the hostess in order to sit and eat only to be turned away saying there was nothing available for us. One night we were able to wait and eat (after 9 pm with 2 little kids). When we showed up on Sunday to make reservations for the rest of the week, we were told again "sorry, there is nothing available anymore". This was an issue the entire week. We either were forced to eat at the buffet, or pay extra money, to wait and eat very late after 9 PM with 2 little kids. We then inquired about a romantic dinner as well as New Year's Eve plans (nothing was advertised and we were trying to plan ahead). The concierge communicated that she would be reaching out to both my brother in law and fiance via Whats App to help arrange a romantic dinner for one night, to help make a NYE plan, and see if there was generally any way to help out with making reservations for dinners. There was absolutely no response on either of their phones. In fact, both of them tried to connect multiple times through Whats App using the number given, and again no reply the entire week. The one evening we were able to make a reservation at 'Chang Tai' on 1/1, we arrived, only to discover the restaurant was entirely closed for the day when we showed up to eat. 2) New Years Eve: The resort advertised a NYE Beach Party. We decided we would purchase a bottle for $180 extra in order to have a designated table to eat, drink, and sit at with the kids for the evening. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and stood around and waited for almost 1 HOUR before someone showed us to a high top wobbly table that was unsafe for the kids to be sitting at. As we arrived at the table, the employee had to ask other people to leave the table they were seating us at- (which irritated other people who were already there. We decided to stick it out and enjoy the night-- however, after being at our table for another 45 minutes, we had no service- no ice for the bottle, no one came to take drink orders, etc. We asked to speak to a manager several times, but we still were not being helped. At 10PM we decided we had to leave and eat because it was clear of the disorganization and lack of service/communication happening at the Beach Party. It was not until we told an employee that we were leaving and intended to return the unopened bottle we purchased in advance, that a manager came over to our table.... We were lucky to be able to get into the buffet right before they were closing for the night in order to eat at all. That was our NYE experience... and had to argue for the charges to be taken off the following day. 3) No one would pick up when calling the front desk (towels, water, a shuttle etc...) We had to physically go down to the lobby to ask someone in person for our request. 4)Toilets broke ( would not flush) twice... one of the days (12/31) we were also advised not to use the toilets by the pool either because they were being repaired. We were required to walk across the resort just to use the bathroom until they were repaired. 5)One of the days we were without cold water... The shower was scalding hot making it nearly impossible and unpleasant to bathe after a day at the pool/beach. 6)Not enough towels for the 6 of us at the pool a couple of the days I finally was able to connect with the manager of White Sand, Jesus German after days of trying to request assistance on the resort. He said that since we booked the vacation through a travel agent, that we would have to file our complaint through them, but assured us that he "wanted to help make this better". Now a month later, our travel agent has done everything on her end to be helpful.. and the response of the resort was "we compensated this group by giving them a late checkout". read more

I was debating between 2 and 3 stars, but I went with three because if you've never been to other resorts, you'd probably think the service, food, and drink were okay. I will start with the positives - the room was very nice and clean. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The pools are quite expansive and beautiful. We never struggled to find seating. There is also a walkable beach - though there are quite a few rocks (big and small). Overall, we had no major issues and that was obviously a plus, however, everything about this resort is just underwhelming. The service is lackluster, though this is likely due to the large amounts of people at this resort and their inability to keep up. I kept repeating to my husband "I didn't leave the rat race to join another one." Our first experience with this was when we arrived to the hotel and the bellhops were running all over the place because they couldn't keep track of who was coming and going and who needed a ride where. Total chaos, but perhaps that's normal on a Saturday. Anyways, we decided to navigate our way around and walk to the Xtra Time bar for a light snack before checking into our room. But, we were impacted the most in regard to dining. I don't believe this hotel should advertise all of their al-a-carte options when they have no intention of getting you into these places. In order to get a reservation, you have to reserve in the app two days in advance or go wait in line at the concierge at 7AM. They prefer funneling everyone to the buffets, and making you wait in line just to get seated and eat below average food. When we did arrive to our 5:30 reservation at Poseidon, they acted confused and didn't have their tables ready. They ushered us to the bar where they only had limited liquor, juices, and one variety of canned beer available. Very bizarre. Buffets are what you will likely eat for every meal - especially breakfast and lunch as that is all that's open. The 24 hours bar "Xtra Time" is an alternate option but is nothing to write home about in terms of quality of food or service. The drinks were below average. Way more limited liquor choices than what we are accustomed to at other resorts, and they were very light on their pours. We had to ask for doubles and triples of everything. The bartenders also weren't familiar with a lot of the drinks we had requested of them - again, all drinks I've had at other resorts in Cancun. Lastly, in terms of entertainment, we did enjoy the local bands and artists they brought in. Bingo was extremely bizarre (gimmicky prizes, suggestive dancing every 5 calls, dance contests, etc) and lasted two hours. Casino night was unorganized and didn't have any actual prizes. Other than that, the entertainment was drinking in the lobby. Overall, I wouldn't suggest going to this place nor would I go back. It's massive, requires a lot of walking, serves below average food and drink, and the general service is subpar. I would much rather pay more for a better experience. read more

I will preface this review by stating that I am a Palladium Travel Club member, my membership is fully paid and we have visited four Palladium properties. THE WHITE SANDS PROPERTY IS A DISGRACE. Since our trip began on Saturday, April 8th we have been disappointed, especially by the White Sands Travel Club staff at every single turn. 1. The refrigerator in one of the rooms was not working, resulting in one of my family members being required to keep her INSULIN in an ICE BUCKET. After complaining about this on night one, it wasn't until our third day that a Travel Club manager "explained" that the refrigerators do not get cold because they only hold beer, and they would send an additional ice bucket for the medicine. LITERALLY, what on earth would compel a resort to employ this as an option for lifesaving medication. Ridiculous. 2. My brother's room was robbed of SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. When we reported the theft to Travel Club Staff, security was brought to his room an interrogated him as if HE was a criminal. They searched through all of his CHILDREN'S clothes as if they have some legal authority and made him repeat his statement three separate times. Meanwhile they didn't properly check the room completely missing the bathroom. WHAT A JOKE. 3. Upon arrival travel club guests are meant to receive champagne and a welcome amenity. By day three these items had not arrived. When asked repeatedly, why as members we were not provided these items I consistently heard "oh, they didn't come." OBVIOUSLY NOT, that is why I am raising the issue. 4. As we are traveling in a busy week, I emailed the Travel Club Team a week ahead to request reservations at several restaurants for specific nights. Keep in mind, that Travel Club members are told to WAIT until their second day when we are supposed to meet with our "concierge" to organize our reservations. After reminding my concierge that we needed dinner reservations that night, I was told "nothing is available, it is a very busy time". ONLY, after throwing a fit demanding to understand what the benefit of this Membership actually was did we receive confirmation for dinner. 5. There are an additional litany of small stresses, from not being able to get carts that escort members around the resort to the flippant blank stare I received when reporting my concerns live. But I don't have the patience or characters to list those here. Long story short. DO NOT BUY THIS MEMBERSHIP AND DO NOT BOTHER WITH THE PALLADIUM PROPERTY IN RIVIERA MAYA. read more

The Good - All of the staff were friendly and helpful! There were a number of options for dining, especially if you made reservations in advance with the concierge. You can make reservations for the day of and up to two days in advance. Access to the two neighboring resorts increases your dining and activity options and you can find a quick transport between resorts or walk. The spa was phenomenal. The massage therapist was excellent. I would recommend waiting to purchase services from a spa representative on the beach vs the front desk concierge. I will cost you about 1/3 the price. The food at Bahia e Brasa the Brazilian steakhouse was our favorite. The food was hot and fresh and we were each able to select the meat that was done the way we preferred. It was delicious, the best food we had while there. The food at the Argentinian steakhouse was our second favorite. The nightly entertainment at the Colonial was super fun. The live music, the silent party and the shows were all very entertaining The bad- Though our teen daughters loved Benito the monkey that roamed the restaurant (El Gran Azul) freely, it was frightening to some guests. He was obviously used to jumping onto guest tables and chairs and helping himself to their food. I emailed the resort about a week before to request our rooms be on the same floor as we were 3 mothers and daughters traveling together. I received no response and by the time we arrived they were only able to accommodate us with the same villa but not the same floor. When I mentioned that I had emailed the resort prior to our arrival, the person checking us in was not phased. The ugly-There was an obstacle course at the pool that was closed the entire 4 days we were there. Everyday when we inquired about it, we were told it would open the next day. It was a blow up obstacle course so it should have been open or taken down instead of having the lifeguards aggressively blowing their whistles every time someone approached it. Finally the desserts. They were plentiful and pretty but the worst tasting thing on the resort. No matter which restaurant you ate at, the desserts were terrible. The cakes and cookies were dry and crumbly and anything that was supposed to be a mousse or cheesecake consistency was gelatinous instead. We are Palladium members. This is one of our favorite locations to visit. The staff is attentive and our room was always stocked with water and sodas. We even had our usual "coche" driver. His name was Leonardo and he knew when we had our meal reservations. I speak Spanish but my wife does not. The staff made sure to speak to her in English too so she was not left out. We stayed pool side first time and not a fan of that. Just the usual pool activities like salsa classes and such was too much for my cranky ears. Last time we stayed in another cabana and was better but that was us for choosing next to pool. They even kept out the street (or would you call them beach) vendors. Only saw one a day selling vapes and they didn't bug us since we were not interested. Going back to this resort for sure. read more

WORST HOTEL WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I want to preface this by saying that we decided to come here to celebrate my cousin's 40th birthday, she is a travel club member with them and our group booked our rooms through her membership. We came in with a group of 60 people that included adults and kids of all ages. We went at the beginning of November. The Grand Palladium consists of 3-4 resorts with one being an adults only resort and is supposedly "all inclusive." ROOM RESERVATIONS: Renee helped us with our group reservations. From the very beginning, he got everyone's reservations all wrong with the wrong prices. Even though my cousin kept correcting him during the process he still kept listing things all wrong. So when we arrived to check in it was still completely wrong. He got the dates for the reservations wrong so when I checked in they didn't have a room for me since they thought I was checking in the next day. They had to check their availability to see if there was a room available for me. Renee sent us links to prepay for some of our rooms beforehand. We all got the Junior Suite Garden View which is the cheapest room that had. But some of us upgraded to the Suite Beachside, the most expensive room they had, for $400 more. When they checked in they gave them a Junior Suite instead and refused to refund them the difference in the price. RESTAURANTS: The food can be decent depending on which restaurant you go to. The Brazilian steakhouse, Japanese restaurant, and buffet were decent. The Thai place is nasty, the only good item there was the curry and shaken beef. Beforehand, my cousin reached out to Renee to make reservations for our entire group for each night of our stay. The reservations were never made. When we arrived there we discovered that they would only allow you to make one reservation per day. Meaning, if I had a reservation at one of the restaurants today they won't allow me to make a reservation at a different restaurant for tomorrow. I would have to call concierge back tomorrow to make the reservation for that day. Each restaurant was fully booked and it was really difficult to make any reservations for any restaurant for groups larger than 4 people. I only had 3 people within my small group but even then many restaurants were closed or were not taking reservations and we were only able to make reservations at whatever restaurant had room for us preventing us from eating at restaurants we wanted to try. For the few reservations we were able to get into, the restaurants were always completely empty and only had a handful of guests yet they would not take in anymore people. I think it is very likely that they were understaffed and thus refused to take in customers not that the restaurant didn't have the capacity. Many people in our group that had multiple kids ended up eating at the buffet as many of the restaurants did not have space for them. Keep in mind that the breakfast buffets close at 11:00 am and will not take you in. They will also stop refilling anymore food items around 10:30 am. 24 HOUR SPORTS BAR: Our group spent almost every night at the sports bar because it was the only place there that opened late. Our group was large and so every night we ordered a lot of food and drinks. What we thought was "all inclusive" was a complete lie. Some of the food items that we typically order a lot of they would lie to us and tell us that they ran out, but we would see them serving it to other guests. In terms of ordering alcohol, because we like the good tequila and there is a lot of us we would order a lot of those specific ones. However, after maybe 2 rounds, they would lie to us and tell us they are all out. When one of my cousins requested more and they refused to serve us he asked to see their manager, they instantly started pouring us more good tequila. However, they continued to bring out the lower tequila thinking we wouldn't notice but there is a huge difference in the color of the tequilas and they continued to make it really difficult for us to order more good tequila. HOTEL TRANSPORTATION: Some of us upon check in requested transportation to the hotel on departure. The hotel told them yes and they would schedule it. The day of departure the hotel tells them nothing was confirmed and they had to scramble to find transportation back to the airport. ROOM SERVICE: The food was decent and was probably the best food we had there to be honest but I've heard mixed reviews from people in our group. Some of them said it was not good. Keep in mind that the room service takes an hour to arrive and if you are not in your room when they get there they will not leave the food there and take it away. The room service is also not all inclusive. After 10 pm, they will start charging you $17 per plate of food you order. POOLS: Their pools close at 6 pm. read more

Arrived 12/30 and still here. The good: The property and location are beautiful and the service is friendly. The bad: the food, the food, the food. The resort markets itself with claims it has 16+ restaurants. Far far far from the truth. Only a few are open on any given evening. When seeking reservations at the open ones (you can't book in advance because you need a room number, and also the app for doing it does not work--which they've acknowledged), you have to go to the concierge desk every morning by 8 am. There, they will tell you every day that they're completely or mostly booked. However, when you walk by the restaurants at night, you can plainly see that they're at most half full. (Our suspicion is that they really just want to steer as many people as possible to the mediocre and often just bad buffet, combined with a possible lack of staff). I get that the all-inclusive economy is different than the regular one, since whether they fill 10 tables or 20, they get the same $$, and there's no incentive to fill them all, since they can direct most to the buffet. But they've risked their reputation. We've heard many other people complain about the same issue. For the amount you pay to stay, it is simply not worth it. Would not recommend. I just spent the last 6 days at this resort... 1. Food was decent and it's exactly the same every single day. They have a few different buffets but they all served the exact same options. Nothing was spectacular and breakfast was the best of all meals. We did the specialty dining option and the better of the 4 we tried were the Brazilian Streak House & El Dorado which is another steak house. Don't forget to reserve your specialty options before 3 pm because if you forget your stuck with the buffet the whole time. Also, the app they tell you to download didn't work for us. We had to take the tram every other day to make dinner reservations. I also got sick while there and spent a whole day in bed because I was so sick from something I ate or had to drink. As always, do not drink the water, try to ask for drinks no ice and be extremely cautious of what you consume or drink. 2. The pools big and overall maintained. It's very quiet and boring. If you are coming here for a bachelorette or bachelor party this wouldn't not be the place maybe the neighbor resort TSR. The beach is very rocky.. bring water shoes. The kiosk to use the kayaks and paddle boards is at the Colonial side but they only set you up and you are on your own for 30 minutes. We weren't able to use any of these because it was windy. The resort was clean and the rooms were also very clean. We stayed in a double queen bed room with a sofa bed. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The fridge had some sodas and a few cans of beer. The alcohol offered as part of the all inclusive is a mix of well and premium but the options are very limited & they tend to make the mixed drinks VERY VERY sweet and not very good. 3. The resort did offer one show at night along with some activities that start after 9. Bring mosquito spray because the mosquitoes are everywhere especially in the evening. 4. Communication with the front staff, guest services and transport was very frustrating. They always say they have to transfer the request to someone else. No one can give a straight answer and they aren't generally forthcoming when you check in. I felt they were just wanting to have you come down to the lobby to book excursions or their time shares. 5. Going home was also a mess. We called the night before to get picked up in the morning with our luggage. We ended up having to call 4 more times because they wouldn't arrive. We almost missed our ride to the airport which was 1.5 hours away. This resort may work for you but overall it was not my cup of tea. It's def not what their website depicts. read more

Second time visiting during spring break for my hubby and I. We came with 2 couples, whose never been. And I hate to say, I was embarrassed by our recommendation. We visited 10 years ago & expected change, but not such a hard decline. Sadly the service has gone down hill, hard to get dinner reservations, and the transportation was much slower. Transportation often times limited going out without souses . I didn't feel it was smart walking in the dark by myself/ourself & over visiting the same bar & spaces near room/hotel. And we knew if we had to count on transportation we be out longer than we wanted to be . Dinner reservations were hard to get & limited what was available for us to eat. Had to eat buffet for all meals for first 3 days ! We arrived on Saturday around 4:30. Tried to reserve dinner and understandably we couldn't get any. didn't expect Sunday morning when using their app there would be no reservations available for 3 days ! Went and made in person reservations and was able to get dinner for 6 for Tuesday. And reservations for 2 on Monday for the couple leaving on Wednesday . That was not a good beginning to our vacation. Service was overall less than superb. Check in was a disaster! There was 1 representative, who did the best he could. Being understaffed created impatience by guests who made our check in uncomfortable . Guest yelled and demanded a key interrupting us by butting in and walking up to desk and saying sorry for interrupting when he clearly cared less. Representative explained he be right with him. Than he continued to say things loudly& when he received no reaction he reached over desk and banged on the door for another representatives attention. The representative did his best but a lot of information was not given to us or misunderstood due to this disruption. Not the representative fault but this was not the only time we saw frustrations during our stay at that desk. Kudos to the employees keeping it together !! I could tell the drastic change in customer service . Everybody seemed overworked and no longer having a good time while working . My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had an excellent time! It was a great home base with plenty of food/restaurant options and a lovely beach for relaxing and enjoying the ocean view. The hotel grounds are also beautiful with thatched roof walkways that meander over water through mangrove forests. Staff were friendly, and guest services was particularly helpful in arranging fun tours for us--snorkeling off Cozumel and visiting Mayan ruins and an underground cenote! At night time we enjoyed the theatrical performances held over at the Colonial hotel. The dancing and acrobatics were very impressive. Of course we loved taking advantage of all the bars and fun alcoholic beverages! On the down side, the beach off the hotel is not great for snorkeling unless you swim pretty far out. However, we had fun kayaking off the shore. Paddle boards are also available for exploring. Lots of places to just lounge and look out at the gorgeous ocean! Also, the hotel does not provide a great tutorial on how to navigate restaurant reservations. Not all of the restaurants are open any given night and you have to plan ahead. I imagine this is especially true if you have a big group. My husband and I were sometimes able to just show up and get a table without a reservation, but I don't think that always works. read more

I have a severe food allergy to ALL NUTS. I don't even need to eat the actual nut itself to go into anaphylaxis, cross contamination is enough to land me a trip to the hospital. For this reason I was too paranoid to try out any new restaurants whilst staying here. I ate my meals at The Dalia (buffet) and Portofino (Italian). My waiter, Maria from the Dalia would make special drinks for me that had no contamination with nuts. She knew exactly what I wanted to drink right when we walked in. We always made sure to ask for her. She would start us off with two drinks per person so we didn't have to wait long for another sip. She was very sweet. Also, The chef would let me know what I could and couldn't eat. I would arrive extra early before people could come and mix up all the spoons to scoop food. That means I had to be the very first in line but it was worth it. When I didn't want to eat at the Dalia I would head over to Portofino. The staff was polite and catering here. A plus is that I could come at any hour as I had special assistance. Fernando Reyes (the chef) went out of his way and prepared my Fettuccini Alfredo pasta from scratch, in a throughly washed separate pan away from all other dishes. Besides preparing my nut-free meals, he also would make me food to take up to the room because it can be a hassle always having to eat at one restaurant to accommodate my special dietary needs while my family wants to explore other types of food. For anything I needed he was there and made me feel very comfortable to eat without worrying about getting an allergic reaction. I highly recommend eating at these two places. My Chef Fernando and my waitress Maria made me feel at home. P.S. the manager from Portofino was also very catering as well. This is not going to be a kind review. This resort was VERY frustrating. The grounds are beautiful. Not much of a beachfront however and primarily forest / grove with lots of wildlife which was neat. The most diverse group I've seen. The beach was covered with seaweed which gave a very fishy smell. So we primarily stayed at the pools. The staff was ok. Overall you got the sense they were going through the motions. Many times you had to seek out a waiter or a go to the bartender rather than them trying to come to you or anticipate what you want. There were a few bright spots. Meriam who was the omelet cook at the breakfast buffet was very cheerful and obliging. Diego at Portofino was awesome and my favorite waiter in the whole resort. The shuttle drivers were GREAT. Very helpful and cheerful and helping each other out, not just every person for themselves. The food to put it bluntly was terrible. We didn't really enjoy a single meal. While breakfast buffet looks awesome with variety the last three days I ate scrambled eggs and toast because so much of the food just sits and is barely warm. The lunch buffet was better. I ate flank steak and fries. The paella was ok but very fishy in flavor. The mahi mahi was generally good. The dinner restaurants we're pretty blah. I take a lot of pictures of food when out and I think I only took a handful this trip. Many times it did not fit the description in the menu. No consistency, for example at Portofino the lasagna was mushy, the risotto was not Al dente but hard, and the sauce they used for pizza and marinara was the same with some hamburger meat and carrots added in for Bolognese. It was very thin, watery, and actually a lot of oil in it. I've never been so sick on a trip to Mexico as this one. Even with Pepto I was not feeling well several days and I really think it's due to the food as I'm careful about the water I drink. Many times you would want to try a restaurant and it might be closed. There was never any information regarding this which added to frustrating experience. Overall, the maintenance of the property was lackluster. Pools say they open at 8 and if there earlier than 10 staff was still putting chemicals in the pool or cleaning up the cups and detritus from the night before. A food truck got a flat tire outside our room. It took them 2 days to send a crew out to fix it. The mattress was old and saggy. In their defense they switched it with another one, after taking a day to "verify". But the new mattress was only slightly better. There was Quite a bit of garbage outside our building in the ditch including some cups and two mouthwash bottles. It was 3 days before we found someone had just kicked them deeper into the bushes. The primary pool we hung out at was super quiet and hardly busy. But the "jacuzzi" part didn't work and you could tell it's been a long time since it had, the jets had nozzles missing. Went into the Diver shop and wanted to grab a lighter. Asked for it to be charged to my room. Nope, couldn't do that. Only resort I've been to where they won't let you charge to your room. We've stayed at 4 resorts now and I have to say this was my least favorite experience at any resort. I was actually thinking of going home after day 2. Refund takes super long (may be impossible) On January 25, we paid in advance 3 nights for 2 couples (in 2 rooms, 2 bookings and done in palladium website), the site claims is free cancellation with 100% refund if made until 15:00h 2 days prior to guest's arrival, (it says the same in the booking confirmation) so, because of COVID we had to ask for cancellation + refund on July 20 for both reservations. cancellation was done instantly, but I asked for the refund, and the issues started. they asked me information about international transfer. after a week, I send them another email to know the status, they did not respond until several emails I sent doing CC to 2 or 3 other company emails. after several months they replied (in October) that they have scheduled the refund by end of month. on October 25 I received the CreditCard cancellation of the transaction (so I got the refund for one booking), so I sent them an email, that I haven't received the refund for the second booking, (and why did they asked me my international bank info if they can just cancel and refund the transaction in the credit card). haven't get any response since then, and I have sent them different emails. I have no other thing to do to start writing bad reviews to see if now I get their attention. read more

the resort grounds are beautiful But the food service was the worst we ever experienced in Mexico, they only had 2 restaurants open and the buffet was working until 5pm, In the restaurant Dorado we went twice and first of all they dont know how to cook any steak by a desired temperature, we order medium well and they brought the steak rare, we keep sanding the steak back 4 times and they never got it right it was all the time rare, and the worst part is that happened in both visits, in other restaurants you will order one thing and they will bring it completely messed up Every time make a reservation in any restaurant you still need to wait additional 45 minutes to be seated and that'not acceptable at bars from all the drinks they have it on the shelves THEY DONT HAVE IT And they keep Telling you we will bring it tomorrow we will bring it tomorrow We were there for 10 days and they never did I will never recommend this resort to anyone Very very very very disappointed read more

There were 13 of us and and could only get reservations for all of us at the steak house the other restaurant does 6 at a time so either eat in shifts or eat someplace else... the pillows stunk like they had been wet then dried in a pile... the trolly drivers will not stop for you unless they feel like it... uncaring staff no emotions just straight faces like they didn't wanna be at work and straight answers are not in their vocabulary the service at the sports bar sucked we were told they only have tacos but other customers were eating a variety of food.. we got ignored repeatedly... seems like they don't like Americans... I lost my wallet and helping me finding it wasn't as Important to them as it was to me I knew where I lost it and still had to wait for til the next day it was found exactly where I said it was but only after I left good thing my family member was leaving later than us... checking out was asked for the room charge for the spa treatment I received I LOST MY WALLET SIR WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO PAY YOU WITH? I honestly don't know where to begin. *sigh*. I've received bad service in a number of industries but rarely do I feel moved to write a review. It's just a part of life, unfortunately. HOWEVER, the level of dissatisfaction I have with this resort cannot go unspoken. The only pros I have is that the pools are plenty and warmed PERFECTLY! Also, SOME of the staff are helpful and pleasant. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and welcome cocktails. Being that I hadn't gotten money for tips yet I opted not to have my bags handled. Check-in was a little lengthy, due to some kind of discrepancy with the rooms. Of course it wasn't fully explained but I was just happy to be getting a room and unwinding. We were able to get a trolley to our rooms and drop off our bags with no problem, most likely because they know they'll get a tip for the service. While riding through the resort to the rooms you can't help but notice a putrid odor in the air. I later found out this was the build up of seaweed on the beaches. We arrived to my building and again, I opted to take my own bags because I know a tip is expected. Upon entering the room another odor that I'm more familiar with... mildew. I love beaches so I've stayed in probably 20+ accommodations on beaches all around the world and I know this is a common occurrence. However, most places take steps to minimize the smell. This resort clearly doesn't care. Again, I just accepted it. I Googled ways to minimize the smell and ultimately ended up spraying my cologne on the air vents (which were covered in dirt) to freshen the air somewhat. The room itself was nothing to write home about. Dated, furniture, decor, bedding,, and electronics; all of which would be nice but weren't the selling points for me, so I looked past them as well. The room was a little warm so I attempted to adjust the thermostat, to no avail. As I met up with others in my group I learned that the mildew smell and room temperatures were par for the course. Some complained and got switched to less smelly rooms. One woman in our group was moved to 5 different rooms; the first of which was already occupied, so we don't know if that room was bad or not. Once hearing this I figured there would be no point in switching rooms because apparently there were no good ones. Instead I decided to go eat at the buffet because I hadn't eaten all day and it was about 8pm. I should've enjoyed ANYTHING I ate at that point seeing as how hungry I was. Instead, I was completely underwhelmed by everything on my plate. I love food and have very few hang ups so I tried a little bit of everything. It was either not kept to a decent temperature or underseasoned (if at all). The only things I enjoyed was the sushi, because even bad sushi (which it was) is still decent, and the guacamole (SURPRISE SURPRISE). The white wine I had to accompany the meal was also lack luster so I didn't ask for another glass. After dinner I went to the welcome party our group had planned and was quickly reminded that all-inclusive resorts water down their alcohol. Had I should have been in the hospital considering how much I drank. Instead, I barely had a buzz. However, I will say the bartender was one of the few friendly staff I encountered that weekend and he wasn't being stingy with the shots, but when the bottle itself is watered down he can do that. Returning to my room I tried to wave down several trollies that were going in the same direction but none ever attempted to stop definitely different than the willingness to assist I had experienced upon arrival. Sleep was uneasy due to the temperature of the room. I ended up sleeping naked on top of the sheets every night, although the thermostat was set at 17°C (62.6°F). Day 2 we decided to go to the pool. We had to double up on lounge chairs unfortunately because there weren't enough for each of us, but that did allow us to interact with a group of ladies enjoying a destination wedding. They were a joy. It's crazy that the highlight of my trip was meeting strangers and bonding over how bad the services, accommodations, and, amenities were. Sidebar: I neglected to mention the reason we chose to go to the pool was due to the enormous amount of seaweed accumulated on the beach which makes it uninhabitable. Again after researching on Google, I learned about the seaweed problem across the entire coast but learned that it is indeed manageable if the initiative is taken. I also have friends who are currently in cancun (less than a week after my departure) who are staying in beaches that have little to no seaweed on them. I guess those properties care about their guests. After the pool we decided to grab a bite at the Mexican restaurant, hoping that the food would be better since it wasn't prepared in mass. Unfortunately, the only thing I can speak highly of again was the guacamole and the ceviche (again this is Mexico, of course those should be good). Don't ever book your honeymoon here or a vacation. Don't ever book the bungalow suites. The suite have water bugs coming in and out like it's their home. There are raccoons that live in between the roof and the hay layer over it. They try to get you every way possible here. Didn't enjoy anything in this hotel. I have been to places all over this world as a military veteran (DAV) and this was the worse place I have EVER vacationed at. My room was never thoroughly cleaned. The customer service from the staff was HORRIBLE!!! They weren't professional on any level.. Restaurants were closed or required 24hr reservations.. Sports Bar food was terrible and cold!! Transportation around the resort was horrible i.e. Me and two other young ladies were trying to get a ride from the Sports Bar after that awful service and were passed up on the trail way by transportation who turned off his car lights and laughed at us as we were trying to get to our rooms. My room was never cleaned properly and bugs were left (ones I killed in my room) on the floor the entire stay.. I wouldn't advise anyone who is traveling to Mexico for the first time to visit here at all!! They have ruined what I thought would be a great trip to Mexico and left a sour taste in my mouth. Also room service sucks!! They either never answered the line or brought food that was ice cold to the room. As an Army veteran who is trying to enjoy (Medical Retirement) vacationing this trip will go down as bad as a tour overseas!!! Save your money and time!! The rooms were dirty and the a/c didn't work and took them two days to look at the a/c and change my room. They gave me the wrong room that I paid for which was a downgrade. They were bugs and mildew in my room. read more

DO NOT come to this resort. 3 hours after checking in, a sum of money was stolen out of our room. The ONLY reason it wasn't in the safe is we didn't think anyone would be by till the next day for. We know it was an employee named Ricardo and have the proof on the door key report. The whole reason for the extended family to vacation in the first place was over the loss of a 13 year old just months ago. We decided family time is more important than Christmas!! The Palladium was a disappointment for us. We went for 12 days in July/ August 2014. The biggest disappointment was the poor service - which of course impacts lots of elements of a vacation at a resort. Most customer service folks were overworked & not interested in providing exceptional service - the worst were the bellmen who drove those trolley carts to shuttle you around the gigantic carts. Room service folks were careless & not friendly. They mostly ignored us & the 2 easy requests we had. 2 complaints to the front desk yielded 0 results. That's when u know it's a hopeless case. Even though this place sells itself as a family resort - they don't really ensure that the young or older members of ur family can enjoy a vacay here. The resort is gigantic with food on one end, rooms on another if ur unlucky & we were, shows, kids club etc on another. We're talking miles here folks. Usually walking isn't a deal breaker for us but it was beyond hot & humid & we had little folks with us. The trolleys never come around. There were easily 1.5 thousand vacationers @ this place when we were there and they all rushed the one miserable trolley that came around every 30 mins. Disaster. Seriously dude it was comical - in a really sad pathetic way. It is impossible to find a palapa near the beach after 8 am. I'm not sure what they expected folks to do - maybe hang out in their room all day????? The trolleys catering to the Yucatan Suites or timeshare folks drive around super fast ok the pedestrians walk ways nearly colliding into pedestrians. Also the restaurants randomly select nights for adult only dinners. Let me tell u after walking for 30 mins to the other freaking side of this place to find out we couldn't eat at this restaurant, I was ready to kick some ass. The biggest disappointment was the fact that the majority of their beach is inaccessible due to reef and rocks. Save your money & look elsewhere. I read reviews & thought I knew what to except but this was a giant disappointment on many fronts. That's why I'm writing this long ass review. I'm lookin out for u fellow Yelpers. Avoid this. I'm pretty bummed to have spent so much money & wasted my entire annual vacation at this place. There are way better options in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Akumal & Tulum. read more
