We stayed in the Paradisus family section of the hotel. We were traveling with 9 people, 3 of which were children. This is the reason we chose your resort in the first place. About 2 weeks prior to coming to the resort we reached out to your resort to make dinner reservations, knowing after a long day in the pools and the sun the kids would need to eat by a certain time and then be ready for bed. You responded to us that it would not be necessary to make reservations , there was plenty of room. This was clearly NOT the case upon arrival. One of the adults we were traveling with literally stood in line for almost 2 hours to make our dinner reservations for the week. The available times were 5:00pm or 9:00 pm. This was very disappointing as well as horrible times for a group of 9 to eat. When I went to the concierge desk to discuss this with them, the person sitting there was rude and took no accountability for this, they advised us to bring it up with guest services. The rooms were lovely and very clean, The pool areas were well maintained and very clean. The staff working the pool area was extremely attentive. Overall, it was a nice place, very kid friendly. read more

Paradisus La Perla is an adults only all inclusive resort at the northern end of Playa Del Carmen. We got the reservation through Costco but we upgraded to "Reserve" upon arrival. Ill start with the good: * the facility is really nice and clean. It's well decorated and well maintained * the staff (there are tons of people working here) are very helpful and friendly * our concierge (Eduardo G) was fantastic. Very attentive and helpful. He definitely went above and beyond to make this a great experience * some of the restaurants are very good (Capella and Sal). * the Reserve cenote trip was amazing * the included reserve spa hydrotherapy was nice * the gym was great (for a hotel gym) * the lobbies were always stocked with drinks and snacks. * the fruit in the restaurants is amazing The bad: * the place is a 300MXP taxi ride from downtown each way. If you're looking for city vibe nightlife, this isn't the place for you. * the area right outside the gates is a little rough. You feel like a princess in a castle as you drive in * there is often a bad smell from the piles of sargassum on the beach. * i was eaten alive by mosquitoes at the restaurants and walking around. * some food is not great (sushi, mushy chips and over salted meats). Everything at Paradisus La Perla is great - restaurants, service and food, beautiful and luxurious resort on the beach with great pools too. I just had a bad experience with he concierge that was assigned to me and my wife. His name is Carlos and he is from the Dominican Republic; this guy, we told him we did not want to do the Melia meeting and he no longer wanted to book our reservations at the restaurants. Everywhere my wife and I went and we ran into him he would give me a dirty look. Buffet people like the manager Elizabeth and her crew Rolando, Carlos, Alicia and Julio were BEYOND EXCELLENT!!! My husband and I spent 8 days at Paradisus for our honeymoon and had an amazing experience. We had a very difficult time trying to pick a location for our honeymoon because of the widely ranging reviews we found online and after staying here it seems like some points may be valid while others are certainly being overly critical. We were upgraded to a room on The Reserve when we arrived and ended up staying an extra night in a master suite when our flight was delayed. Both rooms were luxe, the master suite is bigger than any apartment I've ever lived in. We ate at almost every restaurant and the food was delicious everywhere we went. Highly recommend the hibachi, fish tacos at Fahrenheit, carbonara at Capella, huitlacoche at Cielo and the whole menu at Flora. Bartenders were great everywhere, but we especially enjoyed Ezequiel at the adult only swim up bar and the evening staff at the bar outside Hadar. Across the board the staff were accommodating, friendly, polite and hardworking. The buildings are open to the air so in February it was comfortably in the mid 80s and a treat to be able to walk around and enjoy the lush surroundings. The grounds are stunning and very well maintained considering the massive size of the resort. We found the active wildlife to be an adorable perk of the resort, but raccoons and cats at dinner might not as be enjoyable to everyone else. I found the quiet area to be a nice respite for reading a book or taking a quick swim when I wasn't in the mood for the high energy of the Fahrenheit atmosphere. We also especially enjoyed Sunday night karaoke and morning yoga. Everyone doing aqua aerobics looked like they were having a ton of fun, but unfortunately I missed it every time it was scheduled. Great but imperfect. We booked a basic room and upgraded upon arrival to La Reserva. Pros: good food, pretty looking beach, great la reserva only pool, decent alcohol. Nice staff for the most part. Cons: the bungalows that come with la reserva by the beach are all reserved by 6am and empty most of the time. Pretty ridiculous policy. The concierge assigned was annoying. They mislead you about what comes with the reservation - only one night at the steakhouse, which does have excellent ny strip steak. A couple of aspects were awful. There are rocks in the water in the beach, which probably should be cleared. My wife cut her foot on one the first day. The service at the farenheit poolside restaurant was abysmal. Rude, extremely slow, and almost intentionally inattentive. And there are racoons all over, including in the hotel lobby areas sometimes. So ... beautiful, fun 5* experience at la Reserva, but with a few drawbacks that knock it down a couple stars. We'd go back, but probably not anytime soon. They did comp a second night at the steakhouse, but only after we complained extensively. Not a 5*, $500/night quality experience. They also pressured me into a higher rating on trip advisor. Not cool. Leaving was particularly unpleasant, between that, a cumbersome checkout process, and the poolside bar service being so abysmal that they couldn't get us food in 45 minutes. read more

We stayed for 5 nights at the all inclusive resort Paradisus La Perla under the junior suite, garden view room. The main reason why we were attracted to this resort was the inclusion of a full bathtub with even the most basic rooms and they have a Nespresso bar. We chose not to upgrade our experience by joining "The Reserve" but just an FYI- these members have their own private pool areas, a private beach bar, more updated rooms, a chance to go to a private cenote arranged by the resort, and access to the Sal Restaurant without extra fees. Personally, I don't think upgrading to the Reserve level is worth it. We were able to make all our restaurant reservations ourselves up to 3 days in advance, there are public pool areas that are designated quiet areas that feel like your own private pool, the food access are all the same, and we were not staying in our room most of the time. Con: This resort's concierge make it a priority for guests to attend a time share presentation. They try to entice you by offering free gifts only if you attend a presentation after breakfast the next day. Their tactic is very subtle - Natalia/Natalie (?) asked whether we enjoyed spas and said it could be free if we attended one. When I asked whether this was for time shares, she said it's just a short meeting to talk about the resort's app. We cancelled the next morning when I saw Natalia after having my hunches. The mood was awkward after having to explain why we didn't want to attend coupled with her last ditch effort to push the free gifts. In the end she took out her phone to text the rep we weren't coming, said "no worries we will continue to take care of you", and we never saw her again lol. The entire welcoming interaction with her felt disingenuous looking back. Ultimately we were glad we didn't attend the presentation as the resort's facebook group members have mentioned it's your usual high pressure sale tactics to join their Melia vacation group. I was also contacted through Whatsapp to join their presentation and someone also tried to call my phone after declining to attend through Natalia. The room: Junior Sweet, Garden View. Our "garden view" was simply tall trees obstructing views of the drive way. The quality of the room spoke for how old the resort truly is. The couch in the room felt sticky when you sat on it as it has a waterproof material mixed with humidity. A lot of dents and scratches were visible on various furniture. Some tiles were missing in the shower and the drain would go down slowly. Personal care amenities were very basic. The soap/shampoo/conditioner was communal in the shower. All snacks and drinks in the mini fridge were free of charge. The drinking water in the rooms are all in glass bottles which makes it bulky and can't be carried around. The person replenishing your room's water is different than the house keeping staff which can be inconvenient if they don't address your room at the same time. The bathtub was impressively huge and the shower has a "his and hers" side which was awesome. Overall the room was old and just okay. The resort: The ambiance and decor of the common areas are done very well but the furniture in general are very old. The check in lobby was gorgeous but a waste as no one hangs out there. There were beach chairs that were broken, umbrellas with holes, tables in restaurants that were unbalanced, and dirty seats in the common area. Cielo restaurant's seats had a lot of crumbs tucked away in the nooks. Outdoor restaurants with thatched roofs like Blue Agave's were not useable during rainstorms as there were leaks. All these little things add up and tells you this resort is on the older side with not much money spent on upkeep or the little details. The resort has various activities scheduled throughout the day. We didn't partake in them besides the live singing and performances at Kicks sport bar after 8pm. The beach was beautiful- fine sand and not a huge seaweed issue in December. We were able to walk to the down town Fifth Avenue area by walking along the beach for 45 mins. Pool: Visually pretty but realistically the water was too cold to dip in. Surprisingly for such a large resort, they don't have a jacuzzi by the pool. A huge plus is the cabanas that are not near the pool are FREE to use. If pools are your thing, Paradisus is not for you. I highly recommend ordering the fish tacos at Farenheight restaurant by the pool- the best thing we ate from the resort. Shout out to Elves who provided excellent service during our cabana day. Food: The breakfast buffet was okay but nothing impressive. The buffet area is compact so it's annoying bumping into people when trying to get to the food you want. Wait times in between dishes and the time to get your drink orders is very slow. A lot of time spent on food presentation. Food was overall good for an all inclusive with a lot of options in each resto's menu. read more

So we stayed there from June 9th to the 13th 2025 Junior Swim up Suite The Good: Service is Amazing, room service 24hrs a day. Private pool (kind of share with your neighbors) servers go above and beyond to get you what ever food or drinks you request. Our family concierge took care of us, even when my wife booked the wrong reservation to the restaurant we wanted to go to, our concierge made the correction for the following day. Very friendly staff and will get you tipsy. The Bad: The food from there buffet wasn't good, only good food was breakfast buffet and you can't really mess that up, We did try out "The Lunch Box" which was pretty decent, definitely better then the buffet. We went to 3 different restaurants, the Hybachi Japanese restaurant was ok. "Flora" wasn't great, I asked for the edamame thinking I'm gonna get a bowl of edamame and ended up getting 6 seeds of the edamame with tuna, not six leafs of edamame's but 6 seeds, forget this place to fancy for my blood. "Blue Agave" was actually pretty good, the best one in my opinion. As for our stay Sea weed killed our Family Vacation by the beach, it had a stench that could be smelled all the way to our room and couldn't use the beach because of all the sea weed on the shore, I did see them having two bucket loaders and workers trying to remove it, but definitely stopped us from that perfect day on the beach with my girls. The other thing is, I'm of Mexican blood line, I'm straight up dark brown and my wife is a beautiful white girl, looks as white as snow, when she would go to there gift shop they would try to lie about the prices, luckily my wife ain't stupid and knows the value of there pesos to our US Dollar, she walked in to get a bag of cotton balls, the lady had told her it was worth 900 pesos, my wife looked at her with disgust and said "your telling me this is worth almost 50 bucks" the lady laughed and said ohhh no, I meant to say 90 pesos... that was like... ok... maybe she did make a mistake.... Let it slide... she went again later on that week for some sun block.... 35 bucks for one bottle, she said na, instead we went to a local gas station which I got 2 bottles for 25 bucks... The last day, she wanted a shirt, we were both in the store and ask how much for a shirt, sales lady said 37 bucks, we thought that was pricy but got it anyways as a remembrance, as she rung up the shirt, my wife was standing on the side where she could see the price come up on there display... my wife saw the price was $30, and not 37 like she said... my wife called her out on that price and we ended up getting it for 30.... I stayed here for 4 nights with some friends. We were on the adults only side. Location is perfect a 10 min $35 taxi ride to Playa del Carmen. Food is meh. 3.5 at most. Buffet options are limited. Hibachi was really salty, Asian fusion was ok, Blue agave's consume and tacos were a miss. We really loved the Italian spot. They had tagliatelle, risotto, braised short rib and tiramisu. I'd book the Italian spot first. The Sal steakhouse is an additional cost. 2 tomahawks and 2 sides for a part of 7 came out to $75 USD. The rooms were well maintained and clean. No issues with the bars, rooms or room service. Main issue was most restaurants only allow reservations from 9-4 pm. You can only eat at the buffet and bar food during breakfast and lunch. Price wise great value for what you get. We met people from all over the world. The beaches were clean, no seaweed, plenty of shade, but we did see a lot of rocks. If you want a resort that is more social try Royalton and if you don't mind paying a premium for true 5 star service I'd recommend Atelier Playa Mujeres. They do feature a premium service stay option. Folks that paid for this service said it was not worth it as the upgrades didn't justify the higher price. read more

It's my husband's spiritual birthday so we celebrated here in Paradisus Riviera Maya Mexico . We will be staying for 4 nights. We arrived 1 pm , 2 hrs early but they allowed us to checked in and started to use their amenities while our room will be ready by 3 pm. That was so considerate of the management. Thanks to Gabriel. This is such a beautiful place to be. We chose this one because we were in Paradisus Cancun 6 years ago and I was so impressed with everything. The moment we enter, it was serene. The koi pond, the live plants the decor the architecture designs were in perfect harmony. We tried their buffet it was so good. Good dessert selection. Then we tried their drinks and each servant was so attentive. With Ishmael, Renah this is only a few of them. We ate at Capella Italian cuisine was good. The Mushroom risotto, creamy artichoke, fresh pita bread with freshly grated wheel cheese and tiramisu was to a bomb. Our room is so spacious. Paradisus La Perla is the adults' side of the all-include Paradisus resort (which is part of Melia hotels). The family-friendly side is Paradisus Esmeralda, which is connected. There was a lot of confusion when booking, so hope that info helps. I went there with 20 friends and family for my 40th birthday. I booked the majority of the rooms in advance. I found this place after researching for days on the best all-inclusive, adults-only hotels that had great reviews, amenities, and positive feedback on the food and drinks. Pros: :: I've probably stayed at six all-inclusives in Mexico, and Paradisus La Perla has the best best food, strongest drinks (and top shelf options included), and best service. :: The decor/vibe is serene and almost spa like in the common areas (lobby, halls - a lot of water features and plants, which I enjoy.) :: Use your spa credit! No one told us our booking included a spa credit. Some of our group found out and later took advantage. :: This hotel is beachside, so you have direct access to beaches with hotel cabanas (must reserve) and plenty of beach chairs, beach volleyball, and beachside service for food and drinks. Yes, included! Cons :: There are upgraded rooms that offer hot tubs on the balcony - another reason why I chose this hotel. Ours did work, nor could they fix it. :: Our AC was broken. We didn't notice until 2 days in when the outside temps started to rise. No one was ever able to come fix it. They did offer to change our rooms, but that was on day 3; with 2 days left, I didn't want to separate from our large block of rooms so we just toughed it out. :: The Melia rep was less than friendly, and again, the process was very confusing. It didn't make it very easy for friends to call up and add their credit cards to the room. And check-in was easy for some, terrible for others. Check-out takes just as long. read more

My husband and I decided it was time for a vacation, so we met friends from Virginia here for a week long vacation on the ADULTS ONLY side. I highly recommend this resort for a couple that wants a lot of great restaurant and coffee options during their stay. Food is a dealbreaker for me and the food and this hotel did not disappoint! The service was great and staff was friendly. I wasn't sure if the pool was going to be large enough because usually all-inclusive have large/multiple pool options. It was plenty large and had fun activities each day. The night shows were all very impressive. Mostly overtaken by kids because they are all in the family section, but we still enjoyed them. Beds and pillows were comfy. Tips: (1)Download the WhatsApp before you go because that is how the resort shares the weekly activities and communicates for restaurant reservations and other requests. (2)We took a taxi downtown, ($18-$22 each way) but someone we met that week walked from the beach and ended up cutting through side streets. He said it took 30 minutes or less and was a nice walk. We might try that next time. (3)The gym was nothing special. I took a bunch of work out closed, but wasn't impressed after walking in. I never went. If you're not an avid gym junky I would suggest leaving the tennis shoes at home and doing the activities instead (yoga, water spinning, aqua aerobics). (4)You MUST try the octopus appetizer at Lemon Fish. (5) Make your dinner reservations three nights at a time. (6)Keep your eye open for random dinner buffets in the Kanna Beach area. They had a Mexican buffet while we were there and it was delicious! (7)In the Junior Suite use the little cubby area between the closets for your makeup-the bathroom itself has zero counter area, but that spot works great and mirrors are right there :) ** I hope you love it as much as we did! read more

Outstanding resort!! We stayed in Reserve and it's well worth the upgrade! We had a private concierge named Roberto and he was wonderful! The beach wasn't the best hence the 4 stars. There were parts which were not swimmable due to rocks, so that was a bummer! Oh yeah, the spa was lackluster too, but I live in Scottsdale, AZ so I'm spoiled! We have some of the best spas in the world, so I was not impressed with their spa. The grounds were well kept and the service was top notch! We stayed on the adult side and in the reserve area. Along with having your own private restaurant and pool in reserve, you also get a special spot on the beach that has cabanas and drink service. This was our favorite thing. The reserve restaurant, La Palma, had delicious food and great service. Renau took care of us every day and kept our coffees refilled. Our concierge Jorge booked all of our dinners and spa appointments and checked on us. Both made our stay perfect! 1. The large lobby is gorgeous and even has day beds, snacks all day- mini sandwiches, drinks, Nespresso, desserts. They have the snack spots in other areas as well. 2. The service is stellar from absolutely everyone at the hotel. The staff greet every person each time they see them. From checking in to checking out the service went above and beyond. 3. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. 4. The hotel has a beach that is breathtaking, swimmable, and a few steps from the hotel grounds. 5. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable, and pretty. The air conditioning is quiet and works beautifully. Our bed was a slice of heaven- so comfortable and cozy. 6. The whole hotel smells wonderful. I would buy the candle that smells like Paradisus in a minute. 7. Many options for food. We had great meals, and we did not even get to the Italian or Steak restaurants. Many choices and the presentations are beautiful. 8. They have all day Nespresso bars around the resort. 9. Just stayed 4 days in the Paradisus (Adults only section)... somehow we got a Handicaps Junior suite, with no needs and ask... I didn't realized at the beginning how unusual that suite was... no door for a toilet and no door to the shower!!! And the divider door not sliding. We called to fix the door... it was fix, but still barely sliding... with a big push only... We changed the room, of course... big difference! The terrace continues right to the water- very convenient for us (we both love to swim) ... and we were making laps every early morning around the terrain and in to the main pool - no people; quiet and serene.. that was the biggest highlight of our stay ... We had breakfast and lunch in Sante restaurant ... my friend prefers a la Cart menu, from his previous experiences in Paradisus the buffet didn't offer enough choices... The food in Sante was very good, but the best part of our Sante eating was our waiter Renau! We came to his section (left side from the entrance!), because my friend remembers him from his previous stays in Paradisus! Not only very friendly, but with an excellent professional skills- asking if we need a refill or something else, literally, every few minutes, as passing by, checking thoroughly what's going on on our table... Definitely 5*to Renau! I liked the beach: nice and clean, no see weed... but rocks after a few steps in the water... be careful! We got a Cabana (there are plenty of them) and plenty of chairs if you want some suntan... very friendly stuff helped us with cabana towels and chairs... I preferred to be on the beach during a day...-breezy, not that hot.. and there is a restroom by the entrance to the beach-very convenient.. We went to the 2 restaurants for a dinner-Tokimeku-Asian, and Lemon&Fish-Peruvian cuisine. Both are excellent with exceptional service. Must to try. A group of four of us came here 1/12/24 for a week to celebrate 3 out of 4 of us birthdays. We got out of the St. Louis area just in time as the -30 windchill hit the next day. The weather was perfect in Playa del Carmen @ 84 degrees every day. Then resort pool was perfectly cool and refreshing. The food here is hit and miss. The daily buffet was not bad but it was the same offering each day with little to no variation. You will have to try a couple of restaurants and find what you like then go back to that particular place again. We found Blue Agave (al a carte street tacos) and Fuego (tenderloin and octopus) the favorites of the group. I will say the breakfast buffet chef cooked some good sunny side up eggs which I had 4 times. The resort and rooms are kept clean and the pool is large with attentive waiters, especially Henry, who was a standout. We had a pool view on the 3rd floor and I was very comfortable there. One downside is that the pool music is blaring with a techno beat daily starting at noon. Even songs that I really liked was turned into a techno club beat that was a bit overwhelming at times. Probably won't go back to this resort since we always stay somewhere different when in Mexico. read more

We stayed here Jan 21-28. This was one of the best all inclusives we have stayed at and we've been to many. Pros Resort is clean. Rooms are nice and beds are comfortable. Service is friendly. The lady at the Java shop in the morning was the best. The food was good at the following places, Bana, Mole, Fahrenheit, Hadar. Pool we always got a chair but had to get out before 8am to put our towels down. Aerobics by pool was fun. We did the 45 min presentation and got $150 USD gift card to use at the resort. We did not purchase what they were trying to sell and the sales guy was not pushy. 20 min walk to 5th ave. We did the walk a couple of times and it felt safe. They did a good job of keeping the adults only section adults only. Cons Hard to reserve restaurants at decent times and on some days we could not get reservations at all. Blue agave was not good. Food tasted old. You can't just go to the buffet and sit where you want. You have to wait to be seated and often there's a line out the door. The line does go fast though. Winery, good luck getting in there. They are supposed to be open 2-8 but often times no one was there. We tried to book a tasting but they could never accommodate. Mexican wine tasting was $39 and international tasting $49 per person. read more

There are a lot more cons than pros and it might be a situation of you get what you pay. The resort definitely does not have a luxury resort feel. While there are a lot of restaurants on site, they appear to be severely understaffed. Every restaurant we walked into was, at most, half full yet no reservations were available. I'm not sure if it is a ploy to get you to upgrade to Reserve, but that lack of reservations combined with a plethora of empty tables is not acceptable. Once you are seated, the service is very slow. While some of the restaurants are okay, you definitely don't come here for the food. There also should be an easier way to book dinner reservations in 2025 than having to go meet with concierge. The lack of lunch options is extremely disappointing. The only option other than the buffet is the pool bar which does not have nearly enough seats and has very slow service. The buffet is the only option at breakfast and is quite chaotic. The pool was never crowded, but it was impossible to get a chair. It was also a bit cold as it is not heated. Despite several attempts, we were never able to get chairs on the beach. Getting to the hotel is also a lengthy process. If there are activities, they are not well publicized, which is disappointing. We received decent service in the restaurants and at the pool. If you are looking for an easy vacation, this might work for you. However, I would conduct more research and find a resort with a better variety of food options and higher quality food. read more

All the restaurants this hotel boasts are NOT available. The Paradisus is 2 resorts. 1 is an adults only. If you are traveling with children you cannot access that part of the resort, which includes roughly half of the restaurants listed. Further, on both sides of the resort, there is only 1 food option (poolside Celsius grill) from 2-6 p as all other restaurants (buffet and others) are closed until 6pm. And if you would like to dine at any restaurant other than the buffet, you must make reservations WELL in advance. We attempted to book restaurant reservations upon arrival and there was NO AVAILABILITY (weekend and weekdays!) other than 9:30pm - unacceptable dining time for families. read more

We've been to Paradisus La Perla twice and had a great time both times, though the first time was a 5-star experience, while the second (and most recent) visit was a 4-star experience. The pros of the resort is that: It's all-inclusive, it has very good food options across the board, the service is very good, the amenities (from the gym, to the spa, aerobics classes, etc) are great, and it's nice to have the children separated from the adults between the two resorts. The cons: The first stay there was amazing attention to detail by the staff; however, that same attention just wasn't there the second time. The red seaweed (which, AFAIK, is for all of the east coast of Mexico) really puts a damper on enjoying the beach, because it makes it inaccessible/unenjoyable. The rooms weren't as nice between the two stays. Some tiles were missing from the shower, our refrigerator wasn't working (we call on it twice and never got it fixed), and our AC didn't work the first day. None of the cons ruined the trip, but something worth noting. It's a very good resort. At its price point, I don't know if I would go back if the cons remained the same, but I would certainly go again. It's worth enjoying the restaurants, sitting in the pool, and relaxing to come back one more time. read more

Our stay at Paradisus La Perla in July was wonderful. This adults-only resort has a luxurious feel with a coy pond that runs along walkways throughout the main areas, beautiful art, and tranquility to it that becomes more lively as day turns to night. There are a good number of restaurants that rotate/change every so often, plus restaurants at the family resort that connects. One of the highlights was heading for an early dinner and stopping by the sushi bar where the chef whipped up an omakase-like meal (chef's choice), dishing out all sorts of delicious sushi. The spa is outstanding, hidden within the resort, where got couples massages and access to men's/women's sauna and steam, a mineral water pool with snacks and beverages, and peaceful atmosphere. Drinks were made strong and the pool had plenty of daytime activities plus a DJ and poolside restaurant. We found the staff to be friendly, kind, and helpful outside of one individual (I wish I knew her name) who handled restaurant reservations. She seemed unhappy with her job, did not greet people walking by or up to the desk outside of the lobby, and did not provide fully accurate information (we were told to book restaurant reservations the morning-of, but you can book 3-days in advance we later found out) and did not seem to care for her mistake. Fortunately, we were still able to eat at some great choices. Everyone else made us feel special and treated us over-the-top! We'll surely book at other Paradisus (or Melia-owned) resorts after our experience! read more

I'm going to advise you steer clear of this place. I say this because from prior to checking in the problems began for many in our group. Mine began when my friend called to ask me a week before the trip if I had responded to my email that requested we send them our full names, passport number and date of BIRTH? I then called to ask why they needed that and was informed that they didn't... so why would they send an email asking for it! I also confirmed that I would have two beds since there would be 3 of us in our room. At this time I was informed that I would only have one bed and would have to pay an up charge for a double! Although when I reserved the room I clearly reserved a double. I was also informed that my stay was set to be at La Esmeralda and NOT the Perla which I too clearly reserved! At this point I was frustrated because the man on the other line was trying to get me to pay extra to have a room in the perla and or to get an additional bed. I told him I would deal with this in person! Fast forward to check in day... well because we were there for a destination wedding the coordinator ensured that I was in the Perla but they indeed ONLY gave me one bed! I was a bit livid because I was meant to be on vacation and didn't care to share my bed with my husband and a third person! Luckily that third person was my 18yr old daughter and not a friend because I guarantee you that wouldn't have worked!!! To top it off I reloaded roll away bed and they said they didn't have one for me. Tip: BE SURE to have the ACTUAL CREDIT CARD that you used to reserve and that it has YOUR NAME on it or else you aren't checking in! It doesn't matter that you paid 3 months in advance and that took your money instantly!! They will not let you check in! Not to mention our friends that were getting married had paid for multiple rooms and had to physically go down each time and check each guest in! Seriously I COULDNT BELIEVE that they couldn't notate in each reservation to allow them to check in the BRIDE AND GROOM HAVE PAID and ARE BUSY PREPARING for their big day! But NO the bride and groom had to go down each time to check their guests in! Then apparently they forget it's ALL INCLUSIVE! When ordering room service they asked why we were ordering so much food!!! And although it's all inclusive they charged $5 USD each time you ordered in and $1USD or rather $19.45 pesos per night on top of their outrageous nightly cost. But here's the BIG KICKER... they are supposed to issue you 1 card per person so that you CAN get a beach towel. Well apparently their towels must be made of gold because in all our chaos I managed to free up 2 hours to hit the beach in our 5day stay and when I WENT to the pool area to GET A TOWEL I was informed I absolutely had to HAVE IN HAND a card for each towel I wanted!!! True story it was irrelevant that my friend paid $1300 usd for a 4 day stay and was unable to walk to get her towel due to an accident she had 6 days earlier NO CARD NO TOWEL!!! I have NEVER been treated like this. In general I call down to the front desk and they bring me towels for the pool in this I had to walk 5 min to the office to get 4 cards to allow me 5 towels! This wasn't all that we had to endure... there was a SNAKE YES I SAID IT A SNAKE IN THE WALKWAY to the restaurants luckily for me there was a glass BUT it wasn't secure there were openings on each side of the glass that he could have squeezed through. So once MORE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you find somewhere else to stay at. PS my daughter went in for a mani/pedi before our rehearsal Dinner and it was 40 min for each and a total of $80USD at the spa. They literally charged 80 American dollars to paint her finger and toenails not even a dryer she was late to dinner because she had to NATURALLY AIR DRY her nails! read more

Fantastic all-inclusive resort just outside Playa Del Carmen. The royal service was a step above your normal hotel concierge. A dedicated butler assists with various requests from drawing romantic bubble baths to making preferential reservations at the restaurants to answering any questions you have. Our butler was Denisse and she was fantastic from start to finish. She made sure we had an excellent vacation and this is something that is quite the perk. La Perla is the adult only side. You can easily go to the family side as well whenever desired. The rooms are very comfortable with a huge bed, two closets (one with safe), dual sinks in bathroom, a large shower with rain head and hand held sprayer, desk and couch and balcony with jacuzzi tub. They do have a TV but we didn't use it once enjoying the sounds of the ocean and getting away from everyday life. The Hadar buffet was a great way to start the day with a large buffet featuring many options from a juice bar, omelette/egg station, several fresh pastries and breads, multiple cooked items including empandas and tamales (some traditional some in banana leaf) as well as a quiche/tortilla station, fresh fruit and on and on. The beach is an easy walk from the resort and there are dedicated chairs, bungalows and over-sized chairs you can use to relax. We only used the traditional beach chairs; the others can be arranged through Paradisus staff. I'd definitely come back to Paradisus La Perla. Que fantastico. read more

I'm a 3.5* truly but don't believe in giving less than deserved. It's a 5* resort, but compared with Excellence Playa Mujeres it feels like a 4*. It's just a bit off from a "comfort" standpoint. The food at the restaurants is good, but selection seems inadequate. The buffet is well below average for both breakfast and dinner. Poolside service with Elvis and the food at Fahrenheit was worth every penny, outside of that it's a 4 star resort in comparison. We tried reservations the day of arrival for 2 for the 5 night stay and there were 3 restaurants not available... that's inexcusable in my opinion. Room service food is 2 star. Honestly, as I write this. Elvis and the pool food is the only reason it gets a 4*. Hell even our room keys stopped working after room service came in. Which reminds me. They tell you to leave it at the door when you're done but animals get to it in the night. Decent, not 5 star. It's a $250 a night resort in Cancun for a $400 a night price. read more

Review Beautiful resort. Some areas are being worked on due to up keep. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you want adult only restaurants they have those. Plenty of snack stations, food, and beverages around every corner. Rooms are kept clean daily and replenished with snacks. Now for some cons. Really wish the resort had their own shuttle buses from the airport , mosquitos are horrible, so bring a lot of spray. The pools are beautiful, you have to pay extra if you want to use the pool on the reserve side. The fish tacos at the pool side are amazing. There are activities for the adults, however I wish they had more options especially for those not wanting to be in the sun. It's very peaceful on the adult only side. The sounds (from nature), music and smells are all relaxing. Only 1 restaurant you have to pay extra for, but worth it. The walk to the beach was easy they have 3 bridges to enter and exit from. Taxi to Walmart was $22 one way so try and not forget anything at home. Bring card games and don't forget the sunscreen. Overall would give it an 8 out of 10. Very pleased with staff, everyone was so nice. Would come back again. If you want to tip extra bring a lot of small bills. read more

Usually when people say they offer world class service, it's only a class of service pertaining to their own world. At paradisus, the world class service was exceptional from all ends. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The restaurants were good and hostesses were receptive. The gym facility had everything I needed to stay on track with training while traveling. This was my second visit to Paradisus La Perla. The Adults Exclusive side was exactly that. It was nice to have a different experience vacationing on the adults only side of the resort. Being that it's all inclusive is always really nice. And just because it's all inclusive, didn't make the service and less than exceptional. The drinks were still poured up to the rim, and the food was still served tasty and fresh. The room service tho...man...it came through. Love you all Paradisus, I'm sure to visit for a third time. read more

Let me tell you about the magnificent all-inclusive resort of Paradisus La Perla. We had never been to Playa del Carmen before, nor had we been to an all-inclusive. I admit to being a little anxious when we drove through a deeply poverty-stricken community on our way to the resort, but we were reassured when we stepped into the cool marble hallways of Paradisus and saw the sculptures, water gardens, tasteful furnishings and polite, efficient employees. The service truly was above and beyond as the staff tries hard to accommodate every need, including deliveries of ice and bandaids after a fabulous day of snorkeling and swimming, and our server finding us everywhere we went around the pool to bring us more drinks. Everything at Paradisus is laid out for pampering. From the cozy coverings on the palapa-style Bali beds to the artfully hidden sticks of incense throughout the corridors; from the planned activities to the excellent chefs, no detail is overlooked. The decor is minimalist and elegant. There are large halls with open sides and Bali beds, conversation pits and cafe tables for people to mingle. We met so many interesting people during our week. There is a family side and an adult side, and the building is laid out so that there are no overlaps between the two. We went to a Mayan dance show one night which was fun but probably more fun for little kids. We booked a couples massage which was wonderful but a little pricy. Overall the staff did a good job with masking, social distancing, plenty of disinfecting and other health precautions. We chose a master suite with balcony hot tub, an enormous bathroom, soaking tub and dining/living room. We wished there was a coffee maker in the room, and we wished the smell of mildew was less pervasive in the wardrobe. Other than that, the room was perfect and housekeeping was well-managed. I would guess the resort was about half-full while we stayed there and it was the right amount of people! The pool area was fantastic. You can swim around to several large hot tubs, lie on submerged tile lounges, or float in the middle. A couple of vigorous volleyball games were played while we floated. The swim-up bar had plenty of seats and they served a good selection of tropical drinks and a few beers. And the Bali beds were fantastic. We had intermittent rain on our resort days, but curled up out of the rain in the beds between sprinkles. It's a short walk to the sea along a boardwalk through the jungle. We saw a number of interesting animals but not a single mosquito. The beach has soft, powdery sand, rows of lounge chairs and more little huts where the servers can bring you platters of seafood and champagne. From here, you can borrow kayaks, standup paddleboards, snorkeling equipment and Hobie Cats. The sea was too rough on the days we had excursions so we didn't get to try them. So last of all, let me tell you about the food. It was superb! There are 11 restaurants in total, which is heaven for a couple of foodies like us. We made the week's dinner reservations with the concierge on the first day and received text reminders each day with the menu. Mole, La Palapa, Fuego and Capella were our favorites and my favorite dish was the grilled octopus with polenta. The included wine selection was small but delicious; you can upgrade to finer wines with a surcharge. We only ate breakfast in the buffets at Hardar; they had some unique and delicious dishes but the menu was nearly identical each day. Pro tip for dinner: if you want to try a number of dishes, ask them to bring you a half portion of each, since the portions are substantial. If you want to know about the week's events, there are QR codes around the resort to help. There's also a resort channel on the TV as it is on cruise ships. Our personal concierge made all the arrangements for our excursions so all we had to do is show up at the shuttle time. It was a fantastic stay, and you should go there. read more

This was the worst resort and customer experience i've ever had. We booked an all inclusive adults only experience and did not receive that. We were not told this weekend was an election in mexico. Because of this, there was no/limited alcohol at the pool or beach (which is why you book this type of resort). Additionally, management never knew what was going on. It was challenging to book dinners, we were given "gifts" that we could not use (e.g. a free massage we never got) and the staff was unhelpful and rude. read more

Resort: on arrival we hopped on a golf cart to be taken to a different lobby since we had reservations for the adult only side (la Perla). The resort is massive and gorgeously manicured with tasteful decorations, sculptures, water features and landscaping throughout. As we walked around we were greeted by all the staff. Gift shops were well stocked with unique souvenirs as well as travel necessities like basic meds and toothpaste, toothbrush etc. Activities: we had so much fun staying active after multiple days of open bar and pool lounging by taking advantage of their yoga, silent yoga, bachata, and HIIT classes. All the instructors were wonderful. We also did arts and crafts which included wine and paint night, painting sculptures, pottery, and traditional bead art. These are also great opportunities to make friends with other travelers. Our main activity was hanging out by the pool. We also snagged a day bed but these are grabbed early, we saw people grabbing them around 8am and they stay all day till 4/5pm. These are first come first served for Reserve visitors but are extra charge for others. They lay out towels for you and a server comes to take drink orders and food if you're there around lunchtime. It's a luxurious experience and must do. The bartenders and server by the sunset grill were wonderful and very friendly and helpful. I discovered my be favorite drink for the trip was mezcal with passion fruit. If you're on the Reserve side fyi the swim up bar is its own separate pool from the main pool although you can just slide over the wall to get to the main pool with the pool bar and water beds. A little disappointing but if you stay in the swim up area by your room the servers do come by to see if you want to place drink orders. The water was shallow enough to stand in at about 4'deep. Food: the majority of restaurants we tried had amazing food. First night we had Fuego: Peruvian, ceviche is a must. Lamb rack was tasty as well. Bana tepanyaki was such a fun experience, get ready for a great show and big portions. They cooked three protein options when I went: fish, beef, chicken to accompany veggies and fried rice. Sal was advertised as extra unless you go to a presentation but at the time I went one visit was included with a Reserve stay. It was the most disappointing as the meat was not seasoned at all. I would have honestly been upset if I sat through a meeting to get the meal or if I had paid extra ( I overheard a couple pay $600US for the dinner with wine). A shame since the picuena (sp) and brisket were cooked well. Sides were exceptional, get the risotto, creamed spinach, brussels, sweet potato with pesto. Dessert was good as well, really enjoyed the deconstructed cheese cake. Mole was our last dinner and by far the best, strong margaritas, mole three ways with chicken and rice, birria, and churros for dessert are all dishes I'd recommend. Portions are smaller and nice to share so you can try a bit of everything if you're traveling with others. Blue agave has tacos of every variety and inclusive of families, also very tasty, loved the quesadillas. Service: no matter where we went, staff here were above and beyond any experience I've had with hotel staff. People remember your name, greet you with a smile and offer assistance without asking. Housekeeping in particular was amazing and Marie kondo our stuff after every cleaning. Concierge: included in Reserve is getting a personal concierge. Ours provided a great deal of info and answered all our questions over Whatsapp. He also kindly set up the hot tub in our room with rose petals, champagne and a small cake to celebrate our anniversary. Interactions were mostly over the phone but we did chat in person when he wanted to tell us about their Circle membership and included perks. No forced marketing when we explained our disinterest. Spa: we were offered a discount if booked a treatment prior to arrival and decided on getting a couples massage. I got deep tissue and my husband got the relaxing massage. The lobby had very tasty berry water and after checking in we went separate to the changing area to get robes before meeting up again at the couples massage room upstairs. Really great massage experience, highly recommend. Then we went to shower and had the option for a sauna which is gender separated. You need to wear a swimsuit for the sauna as well as the coed hydrotherapy section. The hydrotherapy includes a large medium temp pool with overhead waterfall jets, a hot tub, and a cold tub. All of this is set amongst a beautiful background of plants and plenty of comfy chairs in the sun and shade. Hydrotherapy visits are included with Reserve bookings but you need to call for an appointment first. Again bathroom attendants were amazing at coordinating our therapy sessions and getting me back in touch with my husband. read more

Not recommended at all. It is an average 4 star resort. Family section has terrible food quality and taste, especially the buffet. The adult-only section has better overall food quality/service but still expect an average 4 star resort service. We got one of the large private rooms which was nice but the price we paid for it was equal to a 5 star resort and the hotel is not even close to that. Given that you spent most of your time in the common area and restaurants/bars/pools rather than your room, the resort (especially the large or swim-up rooms) does NOT worth it at all. Overall, we did not like the resort, food and service and do not recommend this resort at all. read more

Went here with my sorority sisters to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It was booked through a travel agent so I was not familiar with the property. It was about a 30 minute ride from the Cancun airport. Beautiful resort. The check in process was quick and easy and they gave you a welcome drink in the lobby. After checking in we were assisted with our luggage and taken to our room which was a 1 bedroom suite with 2 beds. Very spacious with a balcony that had a jacuzzi tub. The room also had a minibar stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. Our bellman advised us against drinking or using the water even for brushing your teeth. We were provided with plenty of bottled water for that. The resort has an adult side which was La Perla and a family side which was La Esmeralda (I may have spelled that wrong). We stayed on the adult side which had several restaurants and bars and the Red Lounge for drinks and dancing. The buffet was on the family side. There were areas that had live music some nights as well. There is a spa there where I had a one hour massage and it was amazing! Before the massage you can take advantage of the pool, steam room and sauna. We are at different restaurants every night and all of the food we had was delicious. The staff was so courteous, patient and polite because our group had lots of questions that they addressed so kindly. The staff was also nice enough to assist with taking pictures (which we took A LOT of). Side note- All of the bars/restaurants closed at 11pm and the Red Lounge closed around 2am. Overall, I really enjoyed this resort. I recommend it to anyone going to the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area. read more

I came to this resort for my honeymoon (still on it but Im so happy here I thought I'd wrote a review to share this wonderful experience). This is one of the best all inclusive resorts I've ever been to. There's a Generous amount of staff, every one is accommodating and professional. Housekeeping comes in everyday to clean the rooms, restock the fridge and towels. Whenever my husband and I are by the pool staff come by and ask if we want anything, and they're happy to serve. The resort is big with a wide range of restaurants. The entertainment is every night so far, Cuban night, silent (headphones) dancing, meringue night, bracelet making for the kids. ( we stayed by the adults only side). My husband and I agreed that we would definitely come back with our family in the future! 5 star highly recommended! read more
