Palace resorts in general are wonderful, but I will ensure our VIP black bands family never chooses this particular resort again. I was told I would be given a birthday reocognition,but recieved little more than daily room service but nothing else--- I ordered my own cupcakes for 65 usd. Transportation Was shared, Zero vip check in or beverage offer. The views are gorgeous and the food was generally good. However, Bartenders and waiters wait for you to head to 5th Ave for shopping, claim they know you, direct you into unsavory placesand shows of their family- to shop and sell good lies, that make it seem like you're getting a deal. Quote you less than they actually charge FOR FAKE JUNK "Just remember me Jonnie!" Mayan Jewelry II robbed us! The cab driver was more honest than these people. The food and drink options were minimal ( 1 bar inside 1 outside) and only 1 no reservation restaurant and only 1 restaurant option for breakfast. I got charged to see the in house doctor when I slipped and fell onto marble floors on my birthday. Which was a disaster in itself And if anyone can get a phone number for the mayan jewelry on the corner to the left of the ferry_ enterance, I want to ensure my bank gives them no money. For Palace, it is shameful to force tourists out of the resort (because nothing you need or want is available in house) to be taken advantage of . Had this been my first palace experience I'd have never invested in them. This is NOTHING like moon palace in cancun. It is Sun, beach, pretty views, pools and included all drinks (mostly) and all food (mostly). But spend your $ elsewhere. read more

Celebrated my birthday here with a party of 19! This all inclusive hotel offered great drinks, food, beach views and great costumer service. This was a great selection, as my party ranged from 8- 72 years of age. The resort had evening entertainment, was close to downtown Playa del Carmen and next door to the ferry to Conzumel. The resort also allowed open space for you to walk away from the ferry to enjoy the calm, clean water. The resort is next door (walking distance from beach near ferry) to Senior Frogs and Hard Rock Cafe! My family enjoyed themselves. We even booked a complimentary photoshoot at the beach to capture the memorable experience . Few cons: No AC in certain areas of the resort, like the buffet area and the area near the indoor bar. Their kids club needs more fun stuff to lure kids to stay. And....watch for random charges. For example, during checkout, they automatically charge you a $10 "donation" fee. I eliminated it from my bill but missed it on my mom's. The pool closes early! I imagined myself hanging in a hot tub reading a book :( Super perk: you get access to Cozumel Palace. That resort is absolutely gorgeous. Pools and access to the Sea to snorkel is a must! Do it! Download the APP and you can request certain items: extra toothpaste, toothbrush, roll in bed, beer, champagne , toilet paper and room service! Customer service is great! Bring cash to tip. They notice and take care of you again when they see you. Interesting fact: My husband was not feeling well. I paid for a $100 doctor to check him out. Another wonderful visit at Playacar Palace. We can't wait to go back. Dalia and Veronica could not have been more helpful setting up transportation and spa times. They treated us like family. As did both Melvin and Ignacio(Macho)pool concierge. Kevin(Trattoria),Israel (Cafe del Mar) is always smiling. Yesenia from the spa was so very sweet. And a shout out to Olivia the Somalia. The stay was truly amazing, great waiters/waitresses, great food selection and the views are great.. I have to give this resort a due to the trust & confidence I've lost in the safety of leaving items in the room.. The way the situation was handled by the public relations manager onsite on October 8, 2025. I could not speak with a General Manager about the situation. This truly made me feel as if I'm lying about what was missing. After the stay, the timeshare representative attempted to sell the package on top of the unprofessionalism of the public affairs management handling the situation. In A Nutshell: -Playacar Palace is one of the many all-inclusive resorts under the Palace umbrella. -It's not the fanciest all-inclusive but if you are looking for value, this is a great choice. -The location is really great, right smack on the beach next to 5th Avenue (shopping central) & the pier where you can catch a 30 minute boat ride to Cozumel. -The amenities are average, they have a small gym, some pools, hot tub, gift shop a couple lounge areas & a handful of restaurants. -Speaking of the food, my favorite meal was at the Italian restaurant, followed by the International restaurant & then the Asian restaurant. -The International restaurant serves as the best place to go for breakfast & lunch w/ a daily roation of cuisines. -The spa was just okay. -You don't get complimentary hydrotherapy unless you book a service. -The hydrotherapy is below average too (I have been spoiled by Le Blanc Cabo & Cancun). -If you get resort credits to use, they limit you to $150 to use at the spa, but you should be able to figure out a way to maximize this by opting for the Baltic Stone Pedicure (which was really good). -They offer excursion packages but I didn't use any credits since I have done everything before (i.e. dolphin swim, cenotes, Mayan ruins, ATV rides & Xplor Park). -The room had a nice view, I recommend upgrading to the 5th floor ocean view which didn't too much extra. -The room was humid & things seemed slightly damp. Overall, the staff is very friendly, Mexico knows how to do hospitality. My first time here vacationing with my wife. At first the check in was smooth and exciting. Had our bags escorted to the room, wine waiting for us with 2 glasses. Full fridge with a welcoming ocean side view waiting for us. I went to shower and get ready for my night and the instant odor from the water in the shower took me by surprise. After fighting that let down we continued our stay by heading to the welcome dinner. The set up was nice outside, food presentation was good, some of the food was ok. Drinks were never an issue. Next night over time towels would be used and we would need room service to be conducted but it seemed like the towels and wash cloths were in the room after they so called cleaned. Another let down. Room service was clutch but be prepared for barge in's because some waiters were just quick to open the door. But little no to not selection to choose from and after a certain time certain thing a disappear from the menu. When it came to picking up the dishes that were dirty they give you a bell to come pick it up which was good. The bed sheets had an odor as well that smelled seemed to be being camouflaged with some disinfectant spray instead of actually being rewashed. The tv was decent in the room. The cool thing is that if you walk off the resort and head to your right you can run into the shopping area they have right there to get all your tourist gifts but be careful it's full of salesman's trying to feed there families so be willing to spend or take your chances on another road. In the end they ask if you would be interested in a time share. My wife and I gladly declined. I would rather somewhere else honestly...signed a disappointed guest. read more

For $600, I was a bit concerned. However, we did get our value out of this venue and are definitely open to staying again. It's competitive, as you can stay at the Waldorf Astoria (brand new) for $475/night or other all-inclusives for $300 or so. I will list out the pros/cons: Pros: - location is right next to the center strip - 5 minute walk and you're in the action - lots of great bars and staff; decent liquor selection or premium liquor selection for $10 (clase azul, for example) - buffet food was good overall; not the highest quality breakfast food, but the omelette was delicious - great coffee shop - had 2-3 a day - drink selection in fridge was good - lots of soda, beer, water, seltzer - check-in staff are fast and professional - you can exchange money in the front for smaller bills - room service was done daily - rooms aren't too humid or hot; comfortable and the water heats up quickly - fun pool activities - small gym, but gets the job done with free weights - superior service by Hector in the cafe; the individuals bringing us drinks at the pool were also very attentive Cons: - liquor selection in the room is abysmal; stick to the bars to get medium tier liquor (no titos or goose here) - pool is pretty cold; not heated - didn't see the fire show? need more entertainment - lots of children running around Overall, excellent value for the location. The food overall was above average, and you could easily eat $100/pp at the resort per day and drink well over $100/pp in coffee/alcohol if you stay on-site. For a party of 2, that means you're paying $400 or so for the resort location. You're also paying for the convenience of getting food every time you need, or drinks, which is pretty amazing without having to ever think of a bill. We are Palace members and we have stayed at Beach Palace, Moon Palace, Sun Palace, and Le Blanc. Our experience with Palace resorts have been positive until we stayed here. There are only two restaurants on the property with limited menus. But, the biggest difference is that no one speaks English. The only English speakers are the sales staff. You can't customize food orders or request service from any of the staff and when I complained, I was told that "You are in Mexico." They market to Americans in ENGLISH and when Mexicans come to America, they DEMAND Spanish speakers. They will not do business with an American company that doesn't have anyone on staff who can speak to them in Spanish. Why should we be expected to do business with a Mexican business that doesn't have anyone on staff who speaks English? Also, I expect to pay for the convenience of paying more in the gift shop, but we paid $22.00 for a bottle of Pepto Bismo that usually cost less than $5.00. NEVER AGAIN! Run, don't walk from this hotel. It's also in the middle of the "hood." We will never stay here again. Stick to the Moon Palace or the other properties. The worst experience! read more

I have been coming here for about 18 years. Our first trip to a Palace Resort was Beach Palace in 2005. It was amazing and we made our way around the other Palace Resorts. It was when we landed at Playacar 10 to 12 years ago, can't remember exactly when, but we fell in love. This is our home away. I haven't been to another Palace Resort since. There are many reasons but i will tell you that MY main reason are the people. They have become our family. It is a small enough Resort that you can really get to know your people! Just went at the beginning of March and as usual, we had the best time. I love this place and the people so much that i want give some shout outs! Carmen at the pool bar. I feel like after so many years he is our friend and maybe even family. Ivan and Arturo at Momos. They are awesome Marvin at the Pool Daniel at the pool Perla at the pool. She's the sweetest. There are so many more and I can recall all the names but the pool activity staff are all amazing so energetic and the ladies in the kids club were great with my 5 yr old grand daughter. This beach resort has no beach. It is a scam property share gimmick. My family and I went here over the holiday. From the moment we arrived things were off. We booked a car through them and they messed it up. Instead of being helpful, they blamed the problem on us! Welcome to Playacar! Eventually it was sorted out and no apology from the hotel was given. Now where do we start? The lack of a beach that was advertised? To terrible food where they clearly are trying to save every nickel and dime? (Btw lost weight here) The weak sad drinks? My husband and I just had our wedding ceremony/reception at Playacar Palace and everything was perfect! Our wedding planner, Danaee, made our dreams come true. She was very helpful in planning everything we needed and the wedding was beautiful. She was right there at last minute issues like when my eyelash was falling off during pictures and she ran down to the beach to glue it for me! Danaee's wedding team was wonderful as well. We had about 50 guests who all had a great time. The resort in general is beautiful and clean and all staff are amazing, especially Perla at the pool, Juan, Manuel, and Victor, everyone is so friendly and helpful. We love the location because it is close to 5th ave, where we like to go to bars, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are nice and spacious and the food at all the restaurants are good but our favorite is Momo and Traitorria. This was our second time staying at the resort and we will definitely be back, if I could I would do the whole wedding again! read more

The spa is amazing and while the resort is medium-sized, it provides all the right amenities for an enjoyable, intimate family trip that a grand resort cannot. We didn't feel like we had to walk a mile to meet up with others in our party. Room service was quick. Buffet had a nice offering for every meal and the reservation only restaurants were superb. LIE! A woman hounded us to the parking lot when we declined. They say you can say no. LIE! If you say no they will push push push. Beautiful location but the resort sucks. The food is mediocre and the pool is always packed with no where to sit. They cater to people that are timeshare buyers and most of the seating is reserved. We were told that we cannot put our towels down on a chair to reserve it even though we just go grab a drink. They stopped serving snacks at pool area 7 months ago. So disappointed with this place and we normally love the resorts we've been to. The last one, Condessa Fiesta Americana is way better. There's also no beach here because it has risen so much. Just got home after enjoying Monday- Friday here. The absolute ideal proximity to the gorgeous Caribbean Sea and the water was fabulous to float in every day too. The staff kept telling us it was perfect timing since a hurricane recently swept through, it never rained while we were there but it's always nice to have a few clouds because that Mexican sun is so intense. Despite meeting an Elite member who said she didn't feel their membership was "worth it" we ended up purchasing an elite membership because despite the resort and spa credits not being worth their hype (getting $250 in credits but the massages are priced at $500 for example it's sad they inflate all prices to the point that you would rather book these services off-site) we had to use some also to enjoy lobster added to our hibachi dinner but for $89 extra and only receiving the lobster tail it is definitely not worth it. Ultimately we plan to vacation at least once or twice per year so we anticipate the membership paying for itself after 3 more trips and can't wait to visit Le Blanc (adults only) and the new resort opening in 2023! The snack bar foods were not good at all, and sadly we didn't realize the food was 500% if you went into Cafe del Mar, ordered a bunch of stuff and then snuck it over poolside (we spent every afternoon there so lunch was always via snack bar menu where the only thing really edible and tasty were the brisket quesadillas, "ceviche" (super basic) and the pizza and boneless "wings" were totally awful). At some point they always had a fun treat offered like an icecream cart or free coconuts with optional alcohol. Also quickly discovered - not surprisingly- the alcohol at every bar is drastically watered down, I ended up having to opt for mimosas or beer and even snuck my own Bacardi from our governors suite (4 full-sized bottle bar) when on our second to last day I verified that they are authentic bottles. I can understand the need to be cautious with people who drink irresponsibly, but I highly suggest and recommend they disclose this and give people the option to use drink tickets or credits (to track REAL drinks consumed) instead of serving mysterious cocktails with weird syrups or who knows what mixed in... I don't even like getting drunk so I much prefer quality over quantity and certainly don't like being lied to. Our suite was on the 4th floor and overlooked the pool and beach, the huge jacuzzi tub was fabulous, room service was prompt but should've left more shampoos etc without having to go on a scavenger hunt for refills. The nearby "La Quinta" has all the typical shops, be very careful shopping while buzzed especially in the jewelry stores because some merchants will sell you Silver even if you ask for white gold! Some haggling can be done on artsy items. Overall we had a lovely time and met some sweet vacationers, the live band on Thursday (Cuban something) was amazing, I wish they could perform more often! Bookings were scheduled in order to assist with social distancing, masks were not mandatory in public areas so it was nice to have lots of space and room to breath! read more

I am going to preface this review by saying that my first impression of this resort was not the best. Our flight got into Cancun late and we arrived at the resort at 11PM - we were starving. We got driven into the resort at night and thought the lobby/welcome area was kind of a weird layout and all of the restaurants were closed. We got to our room and were let down that the two beds were double size and not Queens so please be aware of this when booking two beds. The late night menu did not have the best options - the chicken wings were not great but the burgers were decent. The morning after this disastrous night, the resort began to pivot in a positive direction. We went to the buffet for breakfast and WOW, almost everything was so delicious especially the scrambled eggs. The sliced fruits were also extremely fresh. We came for breakfast every day of our vacation. We tried all the restaurants at different hours and every single meal completely exceeded our expectations. Feeding the masses is difficult feat but this resort executed it perfectly. My family and I found ourselves in a few pinches and the service at this resort went above and beyond to help us. A few examples: - My husband had gotten his phone wet and we asked the buffet staff if they had some rice. I was expecting just a small ziploc bag of rice but they gave us an almost a full new bag! - On our last day, the transfer to the airport was arriving at 5:50AM which is when all of the restaurants are closed. I called room service at about 5AM asking if there was anything they can bring us for a quick breakfast. It was a super last minute request but a hot breakfast was delivered in 30 mins. We scarfed the breakfast down and left the resort with happy bellies. The head of Room Service needs a promotion because she definitely went out of her way to make sure our request was fulfilled. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Playacar Palace. Because we were on a family vacation with 11 people in our group, we were rarely in our rooms so the smaller beds didn't even bother us. The pool was so nasty! I couldn't believe it. White foam floating, food where seagulls were diving for food out of the pool. Cups, bugs, plastic and trash. No towels available. No where to sit. Missing glass walls everywhere. We took a complimentary van from moon palace over and paid $50 for a cab to leave early that's how gross it was. I don't know about the rooms but the pool area was nasty. Beach was just okay. Kind of murky. Beach palace is way better! I took videos but it doesn't let me upload them. So I took screenshots of the videos. I can't imagine what it's like a full capacity here. The hot tub was cold. I do like that there is shopping down the street. And the ferry to Cozumel is right next door. The lobby is beautiful. The restaurant Del Mar was delicious. But I'd never come back to this palace location. read more

I am writing this I am currently staying here at the resort and have had a pretty bad experience. My family and I have been coming here for years and have absolutely loved this resort. Until this year, things must have changed. My first warning is DO NOT DRINK ANY WATER THEY SERVE. If you think it has water in it do not drink it. They do not serve you bottled water. We got so sick. 8 out of 11 of us had severe stomach cramping, diarrhea for multiple days, vomiting for hours on end, and a headache. We were so sick we couldn't make our excursion. We went downstairs to attempt to cancel our excursion because we had the following systems. Gustavo (the person in charge) advised us to just go to the excursion. We advised our systems and told us we could not get a refund unless we saw a doctor. We agreed to see a doctor but then he advised we would have to pay out of pocket $100 per person. Our excursion cost around $300. As we were speaking with Gustavo, another couple walked up and stated they were having the same systems. We were extremely frustrated with how unhelpful and uncourteous the staff was. We could not make our excursion due to the water THEY gave us and we couldn't even receive a refund or for them to pay for a doctor? We have not left the resort once and all 8 of us that drank the water got sick. The other 3 have not drank any water that THEY provided to us. The cleaning ladies also advised multiple people woke up vomiting this morning. This was not the only bad experience. We had an appointment at 10 am for family photos and the photographer never showed up. Their response was "I don't know what happened." Overall, I'm extremely displeased and do not see myself coming back to the resort again. This place is filled with incompetence, inadequate, useless, and ineptitude service. read more

EPIDEMIC AT PLAYACAR PALACE ****DOZENS SICK FROM EPIDEMIC AT PLAYACAR PALACE***RETHINK YOUR STAY***MANAGEMENT TRYING TO SWEEP SERIOUS PROBLEM UNDER THE RUG***** First at foremost it is important to note that we are multi-generational members who have traveled to Palace Resorts many times. This review is warranted due to a recent stay at Playacar Palace (November through December 2023) that caused many guests to become violently ill from consuming beverages at Playacar Palace. Dozens of guests suffered from vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, etc. for days and Playacar Palace staff and management chose to do nothing to narrow down the cause of the epidemic. Guests conducted their own investigation, spoke to other guests who were extremely sick and discovered that the water that was being served at the Café del Mar was the root of the issue. In the past, guests would be provided bottles of water. However, over time and to save money, management decided to serve water from 5-gallon canisters. This is what caused the most recent widespread outbreak. We asked for corporate's contact information and were refused this information to only be provided with the Public Relations Manager contact information to Playacar Palace. We did contact the public relations manager, Karen Lizette Moreno Vera at Playacar Palace and she provided a very generic email that apologized for the inconvenience and falsified facts. Additionally, it was appalling to read in her standard language response that "the health and well-being of our guests are always a top priority, and as such we take these reports very seriously. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have strict quality control measures in place that are tested on a daily basis. Furthermore, Health & Sanitation authorities make unannounced audits to confirm that these guidelines are met, we are proud to inform all our guests that we are in full compliance." If this was the case, why not provide the number of guests who were sick at Playacar Palace the week of November 28 through December 5? How many guests reported vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, fatigue, etc? How many rooms did housekeeping clean from the vomiting and/or diarrhea? What were the steps they took to narrow down what each guest ate and drank? Who did they report the epidemic too? How many guests saw their on-call doctor for this problem? Why are they refusing to provide corporate's information? The list of questions goes on. Any advise for anyone considering staying here. Stay elsewhere. It is clear that management does not care about the well-being of their guests. They will distort the information and hide the facts. We will continue to document their lack of concern until we obtain a fair and equitable response and resolution. They can correct this problem but if they choose to deny what is going on at their resort and respond insensitively to their members and/or guests, they will continue to receive negative reviews. We had a fantastic experience at this resort! My wife and I went for our 25th anniversary. Our room was very clean and spacious with a nice view of the pool and the ocean. The staff at the resort was very friendly and always willing to pitch in to help us. The staff being so friendly and interacting with us they way they did was one of the things that made for a really good experience. Being an all inclusive resort made it really easy to try the different restaurants and amenities offered. The food was pretty good. The buffet offered many different options as well as options to cook your food to order on the griddle. We also had lobster on the beach one night. The lobster was one of the largest and best I have had. The pool and beach areas were nice. We were always able to get chairs no matter what time of day we went. There was no shortage of things to do. One of the things that we enjoyed was swimming with the dolphins at Cozumel. After the dolphins we went to the Cozumel Palace. Since the Cozumel Palace is part of the same resort we had lunch there are hung out at the pool. Since it's all inclusive this was included and didn't cost anything extra. We did lots of excursions that the resort reccomend to us and had a blast doing them. The shops outside the resort we a blast to walk around and visit. TL: DR: This place is amazing, the staff are incredible, you should have booked your flight yesterday. I can't speak enough about how amazing my visit to Playacar Palace was. My husband and I had our wedding and honeymoon here and from moment one it was spectacular. We had originally planned to have the wedding at Moon Palace (a sister resort of Playacar), but needed to reschedule when we found out about the Phish concert that was being held there. Needless to say, I was anxious that things wouldn't turn out well, but when we met with our on-site coordinator, Mara, I knew that she would make everything perfect! She kept us in the loop on details, would bend over backwards to make sure that we were happy, and went above and beyond. In the end, having the wedding at Playacar instead of Moon Palace was the best thing that we could have had happen. Outside of Mara, every person that we interacted with was amazing! Luis and Manuel at the check in counter always had a smile and a hello for us, even when they were busy with other customers. I knew that our guests were in good hands when they were working and getting their bags squared away. We also got to know some of the bartenders (hey it's all inclusive!) and Cameron at the poolside bar always kept us laughing and seemed to instinctively know when we were ready for another round. The lobby bar and the Luna bar had amazing bartenders, Carmanlino, Azael, and Phillipe. My husband loves spicy things, so I think they had fun making habanero margaritas for him. Plus, they loved to help me with learning my Spanish (even though I'm sure I butchered their language). Finally, we worked with Fabiola for our travel/excursions and she was amazing! She answered any questions we had, recommended days or times that would be less busy, and generally was an amazing person! I know that sometimes there is a fear that people will be pushy or try to upsell you, but we never felt that way with Fabiola. Really, I can't rave enough about this place. Loved staying at this resort! It is such a shame that there are a few bad reviews. To start off the resort will be closed in August for a remodel for a few months. They are going to redo the pool and upgrade a few things in the resort. The resort is extremely clean and the room was great. My bed, pillows and linens were top of the line. So comfortable! I slept like a baby. Truthfully one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. They provided shampoo, conditioner and lotion that I fell in love with and I will now be buying that same product. The staff was wonderful, they always went above and beyond. Edar at the pool was by far our favorite outside. He remembered all our names and our favorite drinks. Braulio was in charge of the entertainment and sports and he was so friendly and really got everyone involved. My daughter is 11 and she loved playing beach soccer and getting involved in all the games and activities. Ana was fabulous as well. Dionicio in the buffet was hands down the best server. We sat in his section every morning just so we could chat with him. We were a party of 9 and he never skipped a beat with us. The Hibachi Grill was our favorite restaurant for dinner, we ate their 3 nights, two at the grill and one for sushi. Service and food were excellent. We ate at the Italian restaurant one night and they made fresh fettuccine and we were all able to try out all the appetizers and pastas. The banana dessert is delish! The buffet had a nice variety of different foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You could also order food outside at the pool. The kiddos loved ordering a smoothie and lunch at the swim up bar. Resort credits are not a joke! You do get to use them, you do have to pay tax on the credits. But it is not a scam. We all went swimming with the dolphins, took the tour to the Tulum Ruins, did the Flyboard and had massages. The staff was very helpful with getting us set up with these excursions. I highly recommend doing the Mayan adventures as well. We went zip lining, repelling and snorkeling. Look into it for sure! The other benefit, is that with your wristband you get when you check in, it allows you to go to the Moon Palace or Cozumel Palace and get all the same benefits at no extra charge. So this isn't my first time to the Maya Rivera. But it is to this hotel. It's not my favorite at all and I won't be back. The hotel wants to be upscale but is really lacking. Others maybe impressed but I'm not. I've stayed at many very nice upscale places and this is not one. Ate at the Italian specialty restaurant last nigh ran my minestrone soup was literally water based with a few table spoons of small diced potatoes, a few beans and carrots. I couldn't eat it. The carbonara was just as disappointing. I don't recommend either one! I recommend staying somewhere else! read more

Very bad customer service. Do not use the transportation as they will not adjust for flight delays or changes and will leave you to eat the cost of transportation to and from the airport. They have you confirm through the site without mentioning anything about using a partner for transportation. That partner they use is not possible to get in touch with so your essentially SOL if you need to make any changes. So that's an additional hidden $50 fee EACH way. Additionally it takes easily 2+ hours to get from airport to hotel room. The driver was terrifying and we almost got into an accident. Public relations response was just 'sorry' withno attempt to remediate the situation. Our hotel room was supposed to be 'oceanfront'. It was not. We had to fight with customer service in order to have them move the room to what we paid for. The food was subpar and often very cold. The workers ASK for tips which is pretty rude and they are relentless about marketing 'deals' to you. You can't sit at the pool without someone trying to sell you something. This was all pretty bad but the worst part was the HORRIFIC seaweed which made the beach unusable. What is marketed is not reality. You expect to come to this place for the beauty and clean water. Overall a pretty bad experience and we won't return. The only redeeming quality was the fact it's close to the ferry so you can leave the property. Would definitely recommend staying elsewhere. read more

Everything about Playacar Palace is paradise bliss! The entire staff is so fabulous! One night, after a few too many drinks, I cut my foot. As I was gushing blood all over the little lounge, the staff was so attentive, so helpful and that carried on throughout my trip. Random staff members would come up and ask how I was doing. So sweet! From the amazing bartenders to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping and front desk staff - they all were friendly, helpful and just made the whole experience wonderful. I went to Playacar Palace for a wedding I was maid of honor for and our group had about 100 people spread over 50 rooms. I swear, I had the best room of anybody! Single ol' me ended up having a huge corner room that was total pimp status. The bridal party used my room to get ready in since it was so much bigger than even the wedding couple's room with a jaw dropping view from the balcony! I was so happy with my room though I had a hard time deciding if I liked my view, comfortable beds & great amenities or the fully stocked bar the best. Food was awesome everywhere except Terreza the fancy Italian restaurant - skip it! We spent most sit down evenings in the Asian restaurant. Free room service was such a nice perk, staff was always friendly and I was really happy with the quality of the food and variety of options. Be sure to tip on room service! The beach itself is picture perfect. You can sit in the heat or sit under an umbrella, still get the wonderful warmth plus get that nice ocean breeze. I went out to take pictures of sunrise one morning and I highly recommend you do the same if you are looking for some tranquil alone time on the beach. It was silent and desolate in a calm & serene way, unlike the day where it gets insanely busy and full of people hanging out with music blasting. Hanging out during the day on the beach is a lot of fun, too, just a different atmosphere. Servers come around to take your drink orders, of course all included, just tip! I loved just chilling out during the day and relaxing with a book. Playacar Palace is conveniently located right next to the popular strip of Cancun loaded with tourist shops and fun spots. I walked through a bit but didn't spend much time there because....uhhhhh....I was at an all inclusive resort! However other members of my group did end up going to the bars, clubs & shops out there, had a great time and the location is just perfect. Playacar Palace offers tons of spa and excursion services. With my booking I got a lot of included credit so ended up doing a great half day trip to the Tulum Ruins that was completely free aside from my tip for the driver. I also got my hair & makeup done for the wedding, plus a manicure/pedicure in the spa. That spa is heavenly! The staff was fabulous and it was beyond relaxing getting these services done. Not to mention they catered to your every need from liquor to relaxation services...loved the spa! Right outside the spa was my bride friend and I's favorite part of the resort - a tea and dessert buffet! It was nearly always empty so we'd have the whole area to ourselves and chow down! Those chocolate balls! YUMMMM! Every single night for my friends and I was spent in the lounge. Ish got crazy in there. It was always so fun, music would be pumping, a few would dance, most would sit and chill....but most importantly the drinks & shots would flow like crazy! We always had a great time in the lounge. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate for a second if someone asked me if I'd recommend Playacar Palace. The wedding went off without a hitch and they handled every piece leading up to the ceremony very well. It even had me rethinking my future wedding plans for my non existent boyfriend and thinking a destination wedding may be the way to go! My husband and I just got married in the mist of all thats going on in the world and we decided to go on our honeymoon also. We booked this hotel all inclusive and it has been absolutely amazing. Perfecto! The staff has been great. Greeted with care. They understand the seriousness of COVID and took our temperature right away, hand sanitizer stations, masks, even offered testing. I felt beyond comfortable. We woke up everyday with room service. A view of the beach from our balcony, went down to play corn hole and sit on the beach. Our waitress, Ana was above and beyond. She knew us so well after just a couple days. Met us with our drinks for the day. Couldn't have pictured a better week here! The food was good, room service was our go to. We can't wait for another trip. Not to mention this is right next to the mall. Had a ferry that took you over to their sister island and that was all inclusive too! Great deal. Just got back from 3 blissful nights at the Playacar Palace in Mexico, just south of Cancun. It's an all-inclusive resort. I really really really love it here. And I would definitely come back again. The rooms are seriously luxurious- every one of them has an alcohol dispenser, refrigerator packed with sodas and beer, a Jacuzzi and ours came with a partial ocean view and terrace. There's 24 hour free room service and countless other tiny luxuries. The pool area is spectacular and so are the servers. Perla was my favorite. Obviously if you tip, you get much faster and friendlier service even though the hotel says that tip is already included. My advise: bring lots of cash to tip the numerous amounts of people serving you and ditch the resort credit- it's just a ploy to make you spend more money. You have to pay a 16% tax on everything you buy with resort credit. Just forget it. Most of the people in our group were stressing over how they were going to use it. I'd rather just relax and spend at my own pace. read more

My wife and I just got back from a fantastic 5 nights at Playacar Palace and we could not have had a better experience! It is a smaller resort, but we knew that going in. We got to know much of the staff and everyone there is so nice and makes you feel very well taken care of. There are 4 sit down dinner options, we ate at three of them -- Trattoria, Momo, and Madre Mia. Food and service was great at all three. Our favorite was Trattoria, but Momo was a close second. We also loved the evening entertainment. There is a show each night at 9PM, each one lasts just under an hour which is perfect. All 5 shows were very entertaining, much better than we were expecting. Had a couples massage at Awe Spa and would highly encourage everybody to do that! Special shout out to Jesus at Trattoria, he was out waiter both times we ate dinner there and was outstanding and made both dinners feel even more special. Leticia at the lobby bar was so friendly and attentive, we had a great time talking to her each night. Sylvia at the pool is the best! We hope to be back soon! read more
