I see a lot of complaints about prices... I wonder how these people can fill their gas tank, go out to dinner (for what is usually lousy food), have their car repaired, BUY A BAG OF QUALITY DOG FOOD, or visit their own dentist without having a meltdown about the costs. Being a good pet owner involves vet care but so many people think that should be inexpensive. I have had 3 dogs cared for by these ladies over the last 4 years. Routine visits, dental work, cancer diagnosis and treatment, euthanasia, and just last week - an EMERGENCY visit when our dog was bitten badly by a German Shepherd. Exam, wound care, anesthesia, surgery, medications for 530$! Half of what it would cost on the Front Range or anywhere else in the country. Stay clear of Grand Mesa Veterinary Hospital. My dog is showing signs of a bladder infection. My regular vet couldn't see her until June 5th (2 weeks). I called Grand Mesa Veterinary Hospital and was told that I could pay a $110 non-refundable "urgent care" deposit to be seen in 2 days. I asked if they could hold the spot for a few minutes while I checked some other vets and was told "first come, first serve". Obviously I care about my dog and, not knowing if I could find anyone else, I agreed and paid. I then called a few other places and found one that could see my dog in the morning (no deposit needed). I called Grand Mesa Veterinary Hospital back 15 minutes after the first call and asked for a refund. They said no. I asked for a discount because, after all, they were charging me $110 to have my name on their calendar for 15 minutes! They said no. Yes I agreed to their terms but I feel they are absolutely being crooks. $110 to have my name for 15 minutes!!! That is not how you make a new in your community. I am absolutely flabbergasted that they would not even discount the $110. That is thievery in my book. I look forward to seeing the "out of business" sign on these jerks. read more

i took my feral 'adopted' cat in for shots & worms - made an appt (soonest available) which happened to be on a Friday. Only to learn that i was going to have to pay for an emergency visit as it was on a Friday. really? I would think that an after-hours or weekend visit would be considered an emergency visit/charge. Due to my concern that she was suffering from worms, I went ahead a took her on a friday,. They gave her a rabies shot and a dose of topical dewormer on her neck for absorption. Within 10 minutes of departure, my cat was foaming at the mouth and very sick. i noticed that she was licking the medicine, which was poisoning her. i immediately called the vet and let them know that they did not put the topical high enough on her neck, as she was able to lick it off. They told me to get a wet rag and wipe it off! No apologies, no refund, and unable to go back for them to correct their mistake. ie, put the meds in the correct area! They had my money and didn't give a shit about my totally sick cat. i do not know how they can stay in 'business' as they are completely incompetent and scam artists. read more

Prices went up....which is really bad to charge $12 per dog for a nail trim. I went somewhere else and paid $5. Both of my dogs are adopted (rescues). When I took one dog in, her teeth were mentioned as being bad in a "you should have been taking care of them" accusatory tone. I'm sorry if I didn't raise her from a puppy to properly make sure her dental was better. We only ever went there because ONE lady (Elisha/Alisha... however she spells it) is wonderful. She did the girls nails and they like her. One new older tech lady felt the need to argue with me when my husband wanted to talk to the vet for just a few minutes about what one of our other dogs was facing with her health. Not so sure we will continue using this vet after these issues. read more

Grand Mesa Vet Clinic made room for me when I needed emergency euthanasia for our 18yr old dog after we were turned down by our own Vet Because this ONE dog hadn't been seen there before. Dr. Natalie was compassionate as my son and I cried over saying goodbye to an animal who was with us my husband and I brought him home from the hospital. I highly recommend this clinic, and I'll be switching my two other dogs to their care! Thank you so much! read more

On June 5, 2019, I took my daughter's Pomeranian dog, Goldie, in for an examination due to obvious pain that she was having when I picked up her up and after having jumped off my bed. Dr. Natalie O'Regan had reviewed Goldie record and noted that she had had previous problems with her ***** glands, but I told her that her ***** glands were fine because she had been having normal sized bowel movements. She said that she could still have ***** gland problems and claimed that she had just expressed them. However, this is inconsistent with information that I had previously received from Goldie's previous veterinarian who had informed me that the size of her feces was THE primary indicator of whether or not she needed her ***** glands expressed. She supposedly expressed Goldie's ***** glands without even discussing the matter with me, much less asking for my authorization to express them and charge me for it. I do not believe that Goldie needed her ***** glands expressed. That was not the purpose for my visit, and I was given no opportunity to authorize or decline an expression. She charged me $15 for this unsolicited service. She also examined Goldie's teeth and said something along the lines of, "Oh, yeah, that tooth is broken. There is nothing there but a root. It has to be extracted and there are others that will need to be extracted." I asked what would happen if the root were not extracted, and she said the root could travel up into her face, causing severe complications, and potentially killing her. I asked how much that would cost, and she said that it would cost $350.00, which would be all inclusive, including blood work. She said she would not perform the surgery without blood work. I conveyed this information to my daughter. Naturally, we were both very distraught by the possibility of a root climbing up into her face, causing severe complications, and potentially kill her. Based upon this information, she agreed to pay the $350.00, even though she could not afford it. My daughter is 21 years old, attempting to make a living on her own in Ft. Collins where rents and the cost of living are significantly higher than the average price across the United States. The "surgery" was scheduled for June 14, 2019. On June 13, 2019, I broke my ankle very badly but drove all the way from Telluride where I broke my ankle to Delta on the morning of June 14 and dropped Goldie off, then drove myself to the emergency room in Montrose. As it turned out, Goldie did NOT have any broken teeth, and no extractions were necessary. We were, nevertheless, charged a total of $351.60, which completely wiped out my daughter's checking account. Upon learning that Goldie had no broken teeth, and that there was, therefore, no possibility of a root climbing up into face and killing her, and that we had been charged $351.60 for a simple tooth cleaning, my daughter and I were both extremely upset by the false and deceptive information that I had been given and that left us with no option but to agree to the surgery, and the amount of money that we had been charged based upon this blatant falsehoods. When I recovered well enough to call Grand Mesa Veterinary Hospital to discuss the foregoing and spoke with both Deborah Jackson, who had assisted with this so called "surgery," she reviewed the records and claimed that Dr. O'Regan had documented that there was a possibility of broken teeth that might need to be extracted. This is simply not true. She had performed the examination and said definitively that there was at least one broken tooth and possibly others that NEEDED to be extracted. When I demanded a significant refund based upon the fact that my daughter and I both felt "deceived and ripped off," she transferred me to Dr. O'Regan, and we had the exact same conversation. She also claimed that she had told me that there was a possibility of broken teeth. We paid her $60.00 for the examination. It is reasonable to expect that she would have been able to determine for certain whether there were broken teeth or not. When I demanded a significant refund, she offered to refund only $75.00, which she said was the cost of the IV Catheter and fluids that Goldie supposedly needed to elevated liver enzymes, but I have yet to see any blood work. I told her that was not acceptable, but she refused any additional refund and said the teeth cleaning had been necessary. However, as I indicated, my daughter could not afford this bill, and neither could I. We agreed to the "surgery" because and only because I had been falsely led to believe that it was critical. Neither of us would have agreed to a routine dental cleaning at the time under any other circumstances. Dr. O'Regan is a blatant liar who appears to routinely engage in unethical and deceptive practices for the purposes of extracting large and unnecessary sums of money from Grand Mesa Veterinary Hospital's patients. read more
