Jonathan is so creative and he has an impeccable eye for details from fixtures to finishes and beyond that really elevate your experience in the space. For example, it was Jonathan's idea to put a rain shower head over the shower bench and every time I sit there and rinse the stress of the day away I think of what a genius he is. Jonathan is patient with his clients and takes the time to answer questions and discuss the details. This is especially important for first time home renovators! He also really respects your personal tastes and tries to create a space that reflects that. One thing you may not know if you haven't renovated before is that the decisions you have to make don't stop once the build begins. Questions will come up from your contractor. I really appreciated how available Jonathan continued to be throughout the build. He even met with our contractor to go through some details and questions. It was so helpful to have him as a trusted resource throughout the project. We look forward to working with Jonathan again on another project.

Lana has designed two baths for us and is working with contractors she found for the project. She is AMAZING. Brilliant, kind, patient, GREAT TASTE, and she thinks of so many things we never could have, big and small. Our only frustration is not knowing how much things will cost when making decisions about the design, but this is an industry not a Lana problem. We love working with Lana and would hire her and the Jonathans again for any project. The contractors are wonderful too (Hovan Brothers), and it's helpful that they work well together. Oh and you really do need the digital renderings that the Jonathans will tell you you need... take it from someone who wasted a lot of money trying to work with a cheaper designer before hiring The Jonathans.

Wow - What a find. I am in the midst of a DIY remodel of my condo guest bathroom and I decided to…read morego with a 1940's art deco theme in lime green ceramics and pink. When I looked at some photos of original deco designs on Pinterest, I got a number of great ideas. One was to put wainscoting around the walls. I figured though, that the amount of work put into the actual wood work would be too much for me and a professional artistic carpenter would be too expensive. I was SO lucky that Wainscoting America came up first in my google search. I called Bob and he was kind and gracious and SO helpful. He taught me SO much about design with his mini tutorials over the phone. Over the next few weeks, as time went on, I continued to learn from Bob. We refined all the dimensions as the mini demolition work was done and I just place the order. Part 2 of this review will follow after I receive the actual 128 lbs of wood - quite a lot for a bathroom that is 60 square feet. This will certainly add flair and style to my pink and green bath. And with the 80 year old toilet and pedestal sink I got online from NY Salvage, I think I am headed in the right direction. Working with Bob has been such a pleasure. More later.

He was able to fit us into his schedule quickly, very reasonably priced, he worked long hours just so we could have it finished quickly for our move in date. He did an intricate brick pattern with mosaics with a tiled out window - and it was perfect. He uses lasers to make sure everything is evenly placed. We could not be happier with his work and will be calling him when we are ready to do our next bathroom!

"Charlie don't surf and we think he should Charlie don't…read moresurf and you know that it ain't no good" (The Clash) Our old bathtub was looking pretty shabby, and not wanting to replace it and jeopardize our ceramic tile we decided to resurface it. And who better to resurface a tub than a business by the epic name of Mr. Resurface? I contacted them through Yelp and the first of my many e-mail exchanges with Ernest resulted in just a few hours. The communication was fantastic -he was super responsive and we handled everything (pricing, options, deposit, appointment) electronically. He arrived as scheduled around 9:30 on Friday and he was finished around 3:00. He was very polite, professional, thorough, neat, and a real pleasure to deal with. He set up a venting system (that looked like a giant caterpillar) down our center hallway into a bedroom window to evacuate the fumes from the resurfacing spray -that was a very nice touch. We added on for a non-slip treatment to the tub floor and a professional caulking job around the tub/floor and tub/wall joints. The finished job looks fantastic and we were very happy with the work Ernest did.

"We Improve For You" installed a walk-in shower in May. The employees that I worked with, the…read moresalesperson, Melissa, Julie, Oscar, Alan and Alex were all very nice and professional. My issues with this install: Instructions: Your instructions stated "If you are getting a shower rod with your order, please have the shower curtain at site so we could hang it at the right height". Alan asked what length the shower curtain was, and I told him it was 72 inches. Without asking me Alan installed the shower rod at 75 inches. That's fine if you have a bathtub that will keep the shower curtain inside. However, a walk-in shower has only a four-inch lip. When I hung up the shower curtain the following day, the 72-inch curtain sat right on top of the four-inch lip. The manager Alex came out, he said that the "code" for hanging shower curtain rods, was 75 inches. I said to him "That's fine if you have a bathtub that will keep the shower curtain inside." Using ChatGPT, I googled "code for hanging shower curtain rods". I consider this point a lie. Melissa ordered a 75" shower curtain. Now the curtain is too long and sits bunched on the shower floor, because they did not take into consideration that the shower hooks bring the curtain down lower. I'm not happy with how the curtain sits slightly bunched up. Ceiling: I asked Alex why Oscar spackled the ceiling, which in turn left the popcorn ceiling looking like crap. Alex indicated that the gap was too large for silicone only. Which indicates to me that the walls were not cut to the correct size. Showerhead - Alan or Oscar forgot to caulk the plate that goes behind the showerhead. Permits: I lost count of how many times I asked Melissa for a copy of the permits (plumbing and building) and the approval of same. The answer was always the same. The city had not reviewed the request yet. When Oscar left on the first day, I said that I was not going to pay for the permits, until I received the appropriate documentation. He called the office and he came back and indicated that "We Improve for You" pays. I was skeptical, why would you pay for your customers' permits? But I paid the full balance owed $9,624.55. Your estimates should be itemized and honest. I consider this a lie. I went to City Hall to inquire about the status of the permits and learned that your company needed to send your Workers Compensation coverage and HIC contract number. I called Melissa and she said that she had responded to their request, but the email bounced back. I gave her a different email and phone number to try. I called City Hall again to find out if they received all the required documents and he indicated that he had and that they sent the invoice - indicating that the project was approved. To DATE: I have not received any email from Melissa indicating that the project was approved. (She knows that I needed that for the HOA and for my own file.) I do not know when the invoice was sent or when they would have received it. Other thoughts: Because the job became a more urgent problem, when I scheduled the install despite not receiving the approvals from the city, I called and spoke to either Melissa or Julie and said that they could start the install but then we would have to wait for the inspectors to inspect. At that time, one of them said that the city does not come out any longer and they just send photos. Another blatant lie: According the building department, they do not accept photos of the work.They absolutely do come out to inspect all work. I asked for the photos (of my job) that both Alan and Oscar said they took and Oscar said he would send them to me. I never received them. Although I would not even know if they were my job. Alan was in the bathroom for 12 hours straight, with the door closed. He rarely came out. When he started the work, I had told him that I would be checking in and that I wanted to take photos of the progress, mainly the plumbing and behind the walls. I was unable to even get into the bathroom. 12 hours straight? He left without a word to me. I did not see what he had done until that evening. I did not see him leave and I found that very unprofessional and inappropriate not to give me an opportunity to see the work. Had he hung the shower curtain as your instructions indicate, we would have known right away the problem with hanging the rod at 75 inches. Oscar returned the following day, to rehang the shower rod, he forgot the caps, and he caulked floor and the ceiling, and spackled the ceiling. He also mentioned there was black left on the floor from the original cast iron tub. I did not go look at it, but when I saw it, I thought ... "why would that even be a question" if I wanted molding ? The caulk job was poor. Oscar never came back to install the molding. I was was without a shower for one and half weeks! I still haven't received in writing the city's approval of the work.

She also was fantastic in helping me decide on a paint colors for a few of the spaces that sorely needed an update. Shannon has a wonderful eye for color, and was a huge help. I highly recommend Shannon & Cheryl, and will definitely use Hive Interior Studio again the future.
