What can I say? A classic small town diner and one of the only places (if not the only place)…read morewithin miles. There's a cast of regulars whose orders are already in process or waiting for them as they walk in, and it's a healthy walk-in business, too, if my time here was any indication. The people are friendly, the food is okay, nothing to set the world on fire, but it's plentiful and at a reasonable price. The best part of the experience for me is eavesdropping on the regulars who talk trash to the other regulars, flirt with the employees, and display the general camaraderie you'd expect in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. As for the food, the cheese omelette had semi-melted white and yellow american cheese artfully placed, and there was plenty more cheese on the inside. It was like a grilled cheese sandwich made with eggs instead of bread. The hashbrowns had some nice crispy pieces, but were otherwise ordinary. Little Montana has an open archway connecting to the convenience store next door -- making it handy for grabbing snacks after your meal before moving on to your next destination. It's nice place to take a break from your travels or hunting expeditions of any kind.

The town is completely run down and the building this business is in would be condemned in most other towns. Despite that, it was the only choice around there to get food. We were still planning on giving it a chance until an older woman who worked there greeted us in n incredibly rude manner and made it abundantly clear that outsiders are not welcome there. We left without ordering food and continued driving for another hour to the east and found a wonderful restaurant called the Summit Corral Grill & Cafe in Jordan. The food was wonderful there and staff were very nice! So long story short, if you are driving by Winnett, MT and are hungry, save yourself the trouble and keep driving, especially if you are a tourist.

The restaurant was packed. The service was great. I bantered with our server. It was fun. The ambiance was typical small town Friday prime rib night. The prime rib was good. Let me back up. When we arrived at 4:50 there was 1 table occupied and the waitress asked if we had a reservation. I thought that was cute. My nephew suggested people were just getting off work. He was right. By 5:10 the place was packed. Make a reservation or go early! We both ordered the Prime Rib. I ordered, and included a picture, of what they call the XTRA SMALL. It is huge (to me!). My nephew ordered the large (he's a master diesel mechanic and can EAT) and the waitress said "Are you sure?" He ended up taking 1/3 of his and 2/3 of mine home for leftovers. The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and seasoned to perfection. Dinner comes with a soup and salad bar. I had a little clam chowder that was delicious. The salad bar was great and included hush puppies as big as softballs. Best I've ever had. Took 2 so I could give one to my nephew so he could experience it. Made him a fan. Dinner also includes your choice from an impressive list of desserts. My caramel apple cobbler is sitting in my hotel fridge waiting for me to get hungry for a late night snack. I leave tomorrow so I'm attacking that cobbler no matter what! Our waitress was funny and a delight and the whole place was very cozy.

We ordered two burgers, which were fairly average and not quite what you might expect from a high-end steakhouse. That said, the fries were excellent--crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the highlight of the meal. At first, the burgers seemed fine, just not particularly memorable. However, as we continued eating, they became noticeably dry. We also realized that the cheddar cheese was missing from both burgers, and my wife's avocado was also not included. We later learned that condiments like mayo, ketchup, mustard, etc. are provided only upon request on the side, which would have been helpful to know upfront. My wife and I were engaged in a good conversation and our waitress was busy but still attentive, so it wasn't until we were most of the way through the meal that we discovered the issues. When we brought it to Louisa's attention she contacted the manager who was very understanding and kindly credited the burgers from our bill, which we appreciated and felt was more than fair. Tonight we were simply in the mood for a lighter, more casual dinner, and while the burgers missed the mark, the overall experience and service still reflect a restaurant we would return to.
