There are so many things wrong with this school that I could go on for hours and hours about.
1. The school is way too strict and will hand out detentions like it's absolutely nothing. If you are late to class by 10 seconds, you will be sent to A5 (the detention room) for the remainder of the period. Which makes no sense at all, and doesn't even teach students anything. If you even grasp your phone out just to check the time in front of a staff member, they will take your phone and return it to your parents. Heck, if you forget to even charge your Chromebook for one night or forget to bring your ID with you, you will receive an hour of detention. They give detentions out like it's nothing, and when you receive detentions you can't even participate in any school activities.
2. The administration of this school is absolutely horrendous. There is no person present in charge of this school. Seriously, I've been here for 4 years and I'm about to graduate, and I still don't know who runs this school. In addition, just because they are a "charter" school, they think that they can pump in the most strict rules possible.
3. The school lately closed the majority of the bathrooms down except two. Note that there are 6000 students in the campus and there are only two bathrooms. Each bathroom is infested with security guards, and they check through stalls quite frequently, which is a total invasion of privacy. The school likes to give excuses and say that "it's to prevent vaping". However, it is a total invasion of privacy and it feels like I am being watched all the time.
4. The school prioritizes money and ranking over the well being of their students. It is common to see many students depressed, burnt out, and exhausted from getting excess amounts of stress from homework and exams. The school does not care about the well-being of their students, and it is notorious for being a "unalive school". They are aware of the mental health issue, because of the form that you are required to fill out when taking 2 or more AP classes, but they won't do anything. Their logic is that they need to keep their test scores as high as possible in order to remain their prestigious status and in order to generate more revenue (at the cost of the well-being of their students).
5. The school teaches you to be like everyone else, to not stand out, and to not be creative/unique. They treat everyone like a robot and expect every student to bubble in the correct answer choices. The school kills off creativity and favors memorization and test taking. If you are not a good test taker like I am, this school is even worse for you. I could show my understanding of knowledge from many different means, but a test will never tell me how much I know or don't know. I wasted so much time and energy stressing over exams, instead of learning how this information is applicable to the real world. This school also claims to "prepare students for the college and the future", but I along with many others are nowhere near ready. This school also expects everyone to go to college/university, and they treat students like failures if they want to take a different path.
I can easily say with full confidence that this school is a prison and detention center, where you are not encouraged to speak up and show your voice. You are constantly being watched, and you have to follow an extremely strict set of rules. I would NOT recommend any parent to send their child to this abomination or dumpster fire of this school, if they are interested in making their children happy and confident. read more
