My daughter has been attending Frost Middle School for the past two years, and she truly loves it…read more One of the things that stands out most to me is the school's positive and inclusive environment. She often shares that, from her personal experience, she has not witnessed any bullying, and that students are respectful toward one another--especially toward students with autism. As a parent of a young boy with special needs, it means a great deal to know there is a place where children feel accepted, supported, and included. The teachers we have had interactions with are kind, dedicated, and genuinely supportive of their students' growth. The school also offers a wide variety of after-school activities and academic programs that help students thrive. For example, they have a Highly Accelerated Math Program, and students even have the opportunity to take early college courses through LA Mission College to begin earning college credits. The music department is exceptional. They consistently participate in competitions, and Mr. R does an incredible job teaching jazz, mariachi, orchestra, band, and strings. It's impressive how much he accomplishes, all while maintaining such a positive and encouraging attitude. My daughter especially enjoys his class. Additionally, the robotics team is outstanding--they placed in the top 10 at the LAUSD Finals Championship last year. The robotics teacher is very supportive and inspiring to the students. Overall, I have had a very positive experience with the school and no complaints. I highly recommend Frost Middle School to any family looking for a supportive and enriching environment for their child.

Maybe if someone reported her she would keep her mouth shut and she would stop using our learning time to talk about useless things. However Mrs. Contreras is the best. No complaints she's nice and always understands. Music teacher is funny so also no complaints.

Each of their experiences has been different, but one thing has stayed consistent: their confidence has grown and they've learned how to advocate for themselves. I remember when my oldest started as a freshman. He was nervous and trying to figure out where he fit in. He's part of the LGBTQ community, and as a mom you hope your child will be accepted for who they are. At VAAS, he was. The diversity here is real, and you can feel it every day. He joined the dance team, got involved in theater, and eventually became president of several clubs. Watching him grow into a confident leader showed me how much this school was helping him develop as a person, not just as a student. My other two children were excited to attend after seeing his experience, and I've watched the same kind of growth happen with them. They all have different personalities and interests, but they've each learned to speak up for themselves and take ownership of their future. As a parent, that means everything. What makes VAAS special is the smaller environment and the relationships with teachers and staff. Students are known by name, and the teachers genuinely care. I've had teachers reach out not just about concerns, but to share progress and ideas for growth. It shows they're truly invested. Both of my children who graduated from VAAS have now graduated from college, one from UC Irvine and the other from the University of Hawaii, and my youngest has already been accepted into college. That tells me VAAS really prepared them for what came next. One of my favorite experiences as a parent has been Digital Portfolio Night, where students present their own work and reflect on their growth. Seeing that confidence firsthand is something special. VAAS is more than just a school. It's a supportive community that prepares students for life after high school, and I would absolutely recommend it to other families.

Punishments are unfair sometimes unfair and misunderstood when sometimes kids were seen as doing something wrong when they didn't. Or the reasons weren't detention worthy. This school was good at times but had repetitive flaws. Also they don't make sure the students are okay, a lot of the time kids that are doing wrong are going through some real stuff. It was just my take on this school but overall it was a 2.

My own experience there was concerning; my son informed me that he had to pay for lunch, despite the school's previous claims that breakfast and lunch were provided at no cost. Additionally, I found the staff, particularly the principal, to be unprofessional and unkind. After reporting an incident, I felt that my concerns were dismissed, and I was subjected to disrespectful remarks about myself and my child. It is crucial for the school to improve its communication skills and address parental concerns more effectively. Overall, my experience was disappointing and distressing.
