This school is just plain stupid. If you don't have any friends then this school pushes you to make new ones and everyone here is just so f****** rude. If you fit the criteria of having no friends and being quiet, nobody will give a flying f*** about you and NOBODY will clap for you at graduation. Otherwise this school is ok at teaching but it's so embarrassing how the 8th grade math teachers can't teach for crap. Also be aware of one of the 8th grade history teachers if you are a sensitive person. So aggressive for you making one mistake. Yes I'm talking about you mIsS Garcia. Also if you get Mrs. Y Kim for math in 6th grade just ask to switch teachers. Too much vaping here too and kids getting prego. This school went downhill with the new principal. Please be sososso careful about the decisions you make here as a student and a parent here at this dipsh** of a school. What a waste of 3 years. This school also does a terrible job at handling sped kids. Poor children taking hard a** tests the teachers can't teach correctly and then you hear loud screaming sped kids screaming and crying outside and the "care" takers on them dam phones letting them do whatever. Believe the low reviews. If you value your child's education, and safety, do not send them to the school. They do not care, (but they pretend to) All they care about is covering their own butts and pretending to follow policy. Bullying is inevitable and nothing will be done about it. Explains why teachers quit and they are so understaffed. They have zero control over the kids and will not work with parents when addressing serious, concerning issues. It's probably not 100% the school's fault, it's LAUSD for not giving them the staff and resources they need. Which in return is very dangerous for our children. Honestly, the only person that cares about the students genuinely.... the security at the front door. The most genuinely kind, and caring person to students, and their families. I went to this school, and the standards are way too high. And the after school programs are ridiculously strict this year. Oh God... don't even get me started on the rules.... You're not allowed to enter certain hallways to make it easier for you to access your classes. And my classes are already very far away. Overall I don't recommend this school, especially if your kid stays after school a lot! read more

Rating is still a 2 or less for Holmes. I just wanted to update that my child graduated from SFIAM (a public middle school in San Fernando) with all Bs and loving school. She loved the teachers she said because they listen and connect with students, unlike Holmes. She also was puzzled why Holmes teachers didn't want to help her understand things, just wanted her to fail. My kid hated school and life while at Holmes. She blossomed at another school that fed her soul and mind. I'm a happy mama. read more

The staff of this school is very RUDE and the way the speak to parents and even children is very alarming!!! Especially one staff named Ms Lina ... she is always upset and aggravated. Everytime I walk into the office, every student she speaks to always have an angry tone! She seems to be sooo miserable working there and her actions shows. And when I reported her the principal, the principal herself seems to ba afraid of her and just makes excuses that "Ms Lina is a very busy lady"!!! Is that a reason to be grouchy and treat students and parents that way . I will calling the school board about the staff of this school. I am so disappointed of this school. The teachers do not care if the students are meeting their academic metrics. They give no help to the students. My son is on 6th grades and with the transition of a new school, having 6 classes with 5 teachers is a lot and basically the teachers leaves them in their own and states that is up to them to follow thru with what is expected. The class are so disorganized. Students are laud and the teachers have absolutely 0 control on them. Is really hard for students that are trying to do their best to concentre in an evident like this. Trying to go to counseling office is just a disappointment. Thee people in the offices are rude and careless. Everyone staff members looks overwhelmed. Sooooooo Glad to see other 1 star reviews here !!!! & to realize I'm Not the only parent that had issues with This "sad excuse for a school" I wouldn't even know where to begin , but to be honest I literally couldn't take another second Of the beyond non acceptable behavior from the teachers & the horrific attitudes Particularly Ms. Wiggum, & what was even more irritating was when I attempted to address her unprofessional M.O. , instead of Any decent follow thru with the principal , I was given the "pass the buck " as though There was something wrong with me , This is a VERY sad state of affairs , & I'm So glad I finally "saw the light" & got the heck out of dodge !! I refused to try & get anywhere with the entire group of ?? Loss of words since I'd have to use fowl language to start describing these individuals. I am glad to say I put my 7th grader in a private Christian school & now I see how things are truly suppose to be , my heart goes out to any parents who think they will get anywhere with this operation , it's a dead end & literally nobody cares about your child & you will be beating. A dead horse trying to make any progress, my daughters grades were failing & that had never happened in any other grades before Holmes , & literally Nothing was done to help make any progress . The entire situation @ holmes caused me insurmountable stress which is already dissipating since switching to a private school , this place needs a serious makeover in a bad way, they need to pay better attention to there students & treat them with more individual attention ? First, I'm quite amused at some of the less than stellar reviews. Berating a school and teachers for what? Become involved. These teachers don't work to "collect a paycheck" as one reviewer wrote. They work tirelessly to give our children an education. If parents don't become involved, they are to blame. I am particularly fond of Mr. Roman, who is always available for my questions. My daughter graduated there 3 years ago, and my son is quite happy in his second year. Why 4 stars? Not enough after school programs. read more

The school teachers are terrible and pick on the kids so much Becareful parents listen what your kids tell you about the teachers ms. Ripley lie on my face about my daughter when i saw my own daughter doing what she asked her her class was outside while she was sitting in the office with the ac ON !!! She ask to please open the lockers she had to go she didn't wanted to!!! she screamed at me and my daughter the ladies on the attendance office OMG even worse they are very rude and aggressive attitudes even the principal i had try talking to her about this issues and her response is they having a bad day! My child started middle school here and im beyound disappointed in the school. He started with A's and B's and and ended with F's and D's..Teachers do not care if your child fails or passes, they are here to collect the paycheck and leave! I have set up parent teacher conferences and 2 out of 4 teachers would meet with me and even after that no progress was made. What happen to teachers becoming teachers because they love kids and want them to suceed. Nope not at Holmes! My son was out for a week due to high fever and asthma problems and when he went back to school on a monday he was advised that its his job to get homework from a friend and bring it on time. When my concerns were brought up to the principle she brushed it under the rug with no concern..My child is not the best student but he sure isn't dumb, I did my part as a parent wish the teachers would of done theirs...avoid teachers Mrs. Bunelos, Mrs. Zagnoli and Mr. Dunn..the school may not be the problem it's the teachers they allow to teach here... read more

Bad teachers, I started my son here and with a lot of falls promises from Mr. Roman; he kept saying it's the best school to attend and we don't know how lucky we are to be excepted at this school.Mrs. Albaeck 6 grade English teacher old and grumpy; math teacher Mrs. Y Kim the worst doesn't care about explaining any thing just gives homework 3 pages every day.
