Come here to get your house inspired or to simply browse. Bonus: Don't forget to check out the discount shed outside. My family and I visit here frequently and it has become a time to bond together as we check out the ever changing space (this time the check out table moved to a completely different location and there was a bigger gardening section added). Each aisle of the store offers its own flair so you can be here for a good hour just to ensure you don't miss anything. Stop back when you can because seasonally, items change. I would say this store is a mix between Patina, Home Goods and a thrift shop. While a majority of the items are brand new, there is a very small section with gently used items such as rustic hand tools, records, teacups, and home decor. Enjoy! This place is a gem!

This is an average antique, vintage, collectibles mall - 3 stars…read more My first (and only) visit: this place is pretty mediocre by my tastes. The first floor is - about - half vintage stuff and half modern collectibles & nick knacks. Of course, they have the ever-present lame area featuring Christmas items year round...even in July. This one is right in front. I don't know why I always seem to find these areas in antique/vintage shops but it seems ubiquitous - I can't seem to escape it! I HAVE seen shops with very cool, legitimately antique Christmas items. But sadly, that's not the case here. The basement is mostly real legitimate antiques. There were far more interesting pieces down there. But nothing really knocked my socks off. On the other hand, on the positive side, nothing was very expensive either. You won't break the bank shopping here. I don't know why I have a fondness for those 22" antique framed photos in oval frames with bubble glass but I find them fascinating. I saw several cool ones downstairs and they were only in the 50 buck range. I usually see price tags of 100 dollars (and up) for these things, depending on the photo. On the day of my visit, the customer service was pretty pathetic and non-existent. I counted 5 people behind the counter and one old timer (customer?) leaning on the counter, talking everyone's ear off. No one could be bothered to greet me or ask if they could help me to find anything. I even interrupted them to ask a question, and I still had to wait & they all acted like I was bothering them. Yet, my pocket was full of cash. Oh, well. I left empty handed and underwhelmed. I might have...might have...bumped them to 4 stars if the customer service was awesome. I'm not a hater but I have to call it the way I see it in my humble opinion. I'm calling it as - not great and not bad - just okay. -Maxx

North Bound Antiques is one of the best antique stores between Elk River and Grand Rapids…read more I've been to North Bound Antiques many times. I think my wife and I have been to nearly EVERY antique store (close to & adjacent to Highway 169) between Elk River and Grand Rapids. Let me tell you, there are some horrible stinkers that call themselves antique stores. But North Bound is easily one of the best...if not THE best of them all. North Bound is technically a "mall" with many vendors. But they're way above average with some fantastic vendors. They could hold their own with any antique mall in Minneapolis and St. Paul. And the building is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The best vendors seem to be in the front of the store. These are the ones that have the biggest, rarest, and most expensive items. Be prepared to fork out some dough if you want to buy something big and rare. They have brand-new hand-made crafts of different kinds peppered throughout the store too. Some of the larger lawn & garden type items are displayed outside. -Daddy Maxx Retro

The owners are super friendly and helpful. Picked up several items during Girls Night Out last Spring.. I'm a fan! This is an "occasional" shop. Just be aware that they are open for one weekend a month. It's the second week of each month. (Thurs, Fri and Sat) Wish it were more!

This is what my family experienced, we love thrifting and antique shopping…read more We went there today and did not have a good experience. We were followed from the main floor to the top floor. My son and my daughter wanted items and were told that the staff will hold on to it, these items were not locked up. My son bought an item and was told they will lower it to $10 but instead charged him $19. We have thrifted and antique shopped from Duluth all the way to Winona, we are local and decided to try this place for the first time and definitely the last. While you were busy following us thinking just because we are POC, we would steal, Dick and Jane over there were probably stealing. FYI, POC people like to thrift and antique shop too. I have never had this happen, this is the first time, which is just disgusting as we are locals. I'd much prefer the Antique 101 or Elk River Antique. Our POC money is just as good as a white persons. You don't have to follow us because of our skin color.

Frank & Bessie's Attic is a very nice antique store with quality merchandise…read more FBA isn't very big. But it's packed with high quality, unique merchandise at very reasonable prices (see photos). Everything is clean, organized, and displayed nicely. Don't forget to checkout the 2nd floor balcony area. There are more goodies up there. I'd say that around 25% of the store is merchandise that wouldn't be considered an antique. I usually don't like this stuff but FBA does a good job. There are a few vendor areas with reproduction signs, bird houses, hand-made signs, and that sort of thing. But there's also a giant wall of high quality specialty cooking oils and vinegars in front - very cool. There's some amazing functional art on the front desk. There are instruments (and a pipe sculpture) converted into functional lamp art. I usually don't like this stuff. (I've seen other shops where someone shoves a light bulb on something old and tries to sell it.) But this artist, Charlie Fiss, is crazy talented -- amazing stuff! In particular, there was an awesome violin lamp with color changing LEDs (with a remote), a USB charger in the base, and a blue tooth speaker hidden in the violin so you can play music. The pipe sculpture lamp was pretty darn cool too. It had all kinds of doo-dads, knobs, switches, an old fuse, a digital readout, and an analog clock. Charlie - you rock! As a final note, the owner is really nice. My wife and I really enjoyed talking to her. Ironically, this building was built by her grandparents, and she has their photo proudly hanging by the front entry door. Unfortunately, it sounds like the city wants to buy this building so they can demolish everything and "develop" the land. Really? Do they need some junky condos or a crappy strip mall near the river? Yuck! I hope this never happens. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood. -Daddy Maxx Retro
