I came to this salon a couple of years ago, before I found the salon I go to now which is a lot more convenient for me. My friend recommended Graeme Reid salon to me as she always got her colour done here for a very reasonable price and her hair always looks fabulous.
It was a little bit out of the way for me as I live about an hours bus journey from the West End but seeing as I'm always in the area for Uni anyway I used to book my appointments for after classes. I was always really impressed with my cut and colour here and the staff were always really friendly and gave advice on what they thought would look best. I also got my hair styled for my school prom here which looked beautiful.
Naturally, my hair is very dark brown verging on black but my natural hair colour doesn't do anything for me, I have really fair skin and blue eyes so the dark hair just makes me look ill and washed out, this is why I always go for blonde hair, I think I was born with the wrong hair colour, most of my family have blonde hair so why not me?
I was always really happy with the blonde here, it always looked very natural and they would put conditioning treatments on too so that it wasn't causing too much damage to my hair. Apart from the fact that this place was an annoyance for me to get to, I also stopped going because my usual hairdresser here said that he thought I would really suit a chocolate brown colour. Chocolate? Did you say chocolate? Oh my goodness, sold, yes please give me chocolate brown hair. The result wasn't what I'd hoped and it was closer to red hair than brown. I felt physically sick and cried myself to sleep for about two weeks. It made matters worse when my mum kept banging on about how awful it looked and that it did me no favours at all. I went back about 6 weeks later to get it blonde again as understandably, they wanted to wait a while before putting more dye in my hair so it didn't end up looking like a brillo pad. It wasn't the hairdressers fault though, I shouldn't have gone with the suggestion as I know I'm funny with big changes to my hair, especially when it's not blonde.
Overall, a great salon. The staff are friendly and very talented. The salon itself is also very modern and if you live in the West End also very handy as it is located at the very end of Byers Road just beside the Hilton. The prices aren't too bad either so if you're looking for a new salon then I'd recommend giving this one a go! read more
