Wow, what an amazing store! Somehow I've never been into Space NK before even though I knew it had…read morea great reputation for beauty and makeup products. I've been looking for something for dehydrated skin (the bane of my life) and decided to pop in here to see if I could get some help. Now this review was nearly a 2-star because the staff initially seemed a bit like they couldn't be assed and I was struggling to catch someone's else even though I'd been loitering in the skin care area for ages. Finally I got someone to help me and she was great - actually really helpful, showing me the products and happily gave me decent sized mini tubs to take home and try. I mean, if I'm going to spend £60 on moisturiser, I want to make sure it's amazing. This store is also a lot bigger than I expected and has a range of candles/bubble baths. If you're looking for something a bit more upmarket than Boots/Superdrug for your skin care and makeup, then Space NK is pretty damn amazing.

They stock NARS, Laura Mercier and stunning Shu Uemura eyelashes that will definitely make a statement. The staff are very helpful and you can get free consultations on the best products for your skin and tips on getting a flawless complection. I was once put in the direction of "Dr. Seabagh Foaming Cleanser" after a couple of months of breakout hell. I'd tried everything and this was a last resort, It wasn't cheap, £22 for 100ml bottle and I was sceptical but I decided to give it a go. It cleared up my skin in about 5 days, it was like a miracle! I swore by the stuff for nearly two years but then I moved to Germany for ten months and it stopped working. It could have been the water there but I haven't used it since. I might pop back soon to give it another shot as when it worked the results were fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for quick results for breakouts. As far as I'm aware Space NK is the only stockist in Glasgow, hurrah! They used to stock loads of Philosophy products but they don't have so many anymore. My favourite purchase from here was a lipgloss set from Philosophy which was called "A Few Good Men", these men were, "The Muffin Man" - a lemon muffin flavoured lipgloss, "The Gingerbread Man" - a tasty gingerbread lipgloss and my favourite, "The Ice-Cream Man." Unfortunately they don't have this set anymore, but who knows, maybe one day they'll make a return. Space NK is great, quite expensive but sometimes you need to pay that little bit extra when it comes to cosmetics. They also do sales now and then so you could grab yourself a bargain!

Superdrug are doing a promotion where you get 5% off 1st class stamps. Now, this might not seem much but then you add up all those pennies on your Christmas card stamps it could go towards an extra present or perhaps a wee new lip gloss for yourself. As far as I know, Superdrug is the (or at least one of the) only places to do this promotion. You can't even get it when buying in bulk from the post office. They do it on and off throughout the year so it's definitely worth stocking up on your stamps during these periods. I never thought I'd be so enthusiastic about stamps.

It has everything you could ever want from such a shop; medicines, hair products, skin care, electrical goods, batteries, a huge range of cosmetics and much more 2. Due to it's location it is always bustling, especially on weekends but that doesn't stop the staff from being super friendly and helpful. Even if they are rushed off their feet they still take the time to help you out if you have a query or check their stock if the item you want doesn't appear to be there. 3. They always have fantastic offers on. If I go in for one thing - I usually come out with about ten more as the offers really are too good to resist including my favourite L'Oreal shampoo nearly always being on a buy one get one free offer. 4. They always have lots of staff on so even when it is busy you never have to wait long in the queue. 5. They stock make-up such as GOSH, Bloom and Barry M that aren't often stocked in other stores. 6. They have a Superdrug cheek tint that is very similar to that of Benefits "Benetint" I found this after years of using Benetint and can tell you that there is absolutely no difference, well apart from the fact that "Benetint" is around £23 and Superdrugs own is £1.91!!!!! 7. For the past few months they have had an offer on where you get 25% off Superdrug goodies and 10% off all other goodies if you fill in a short survey online. Wow... those are just a few reasons but if you are looking for a Superdrug, I would say this one is the best.

It's an Italian cosmetics brand and I decided to pop into the Buchanan Street store for a quick visit. There was quite a lot of people in the store which kind of put me off browsing as I wasn't actually looking for anything in particular. There was a shop assistant at the front of the store handing out baskets which was nice until I was leaving and had to give it back to her and felt super awkward about it. They have a good range and I like how it was all laid out - very appealing and hard to resist buying something just to give the brand a shot. I did notice that the displays seemed to be duplicated on each side of the store - I could be wrong, but if it's busy that might be helpful! The prices are pretty cheap too - foundations for around £10, single eyeshadow colours for around £5 and they also do a skincare range as well. Like I said, I didn't buy anything this time but will try to visit when it's a bit quieter to see what I can get.

I was looking at buying a new powder as well as a wee treat as well - I'd decided for a new red lipstick. The sales assistant was super helpful and friendly, and assured me that the red she picked out would be perfect for me as it suits most skin tones. While I like to save red for a special occasion she was indeed totally correct and it is a great colour (Marvelous Moxie). Live review update: I just went to look out my lipstick from my makeup bag and it seems the lid had taken itself off, so now there is a bit of damage to the lipstick. It doesn't really lock in place, so the lid will just slide off! Be warned - this is one to keep on your counter rather than in your bag. In the store they do makeovers/makeunders and will make sure that you know how to use the powder if you've not tried it before. These are simple things which can be bought elsewhere but are of a slightly higher quality and, possibly, a slightly better price. Furthermore, I have always had very pleasant staff in here who possess great customer service skills. Maybe, this is due to me being a welcome break from the normal angst ridden teenager customer. Who knows. However, due to the usual customers that frequent this store, I would give it a miss on busy Saturdays.

The moisturisers look and smell lovely but they don't actually moisturise your skin as well as some good old Palmers Cocoa Butter from Boots at a fraction of the price, and that sort of thing. However I believe L'Occitane is different. Not only are the products pretty to look at and smell but they also work really well. The staff in the store seem to genuinely know about caring for your skin and hair and can direct you to the range which is most suitable for your skin type. While the products are quite expensive I feel that it is worth it if you are trying to address a specific beauty concern and of course they do sell lovely gift sets for men and women if you want to treat someone special. For Christmas this year I bought my Dad a great old fashioned shaving set from L'Occitane with a proper shaving brush and bowl and some rich, creamy shaving foam which I know he uses on special occasions instead of his usual "slap on some Gillette foam" routine. For myself I keep the Almond Soap in constant supply. It contains tiny little pieces of almond shell for exfoliation and leaves my skin lovely and soft. I also love the Roses 4 Reines Bath and Shower Gel. It contains four different kinds of rose and the smell is gorgeous and subtle, not overpowering and the bottle looks great in the bathroom. It reminds me of something an old Hollywood beauty like Grace Kelly would have in her bathroom. What I like best about L'Occitane products though is that they are mostly free from parabens, mineral oils and other nasties, which is a total bug bare of mine!
