Ok I have to update my review from 11 years ago(!) - just for fun…read more I've been having my hair cut by Meg since... 2009 I think? I've been getting my hair cut at Rainbow Room salons since about 2005, though. I moved away in 2016, but Meg is still there and I still stop in whenever I'm in Glasgow because she just knows how to work with my hair better than anyone else. The salon has been remodeled recently and it looks fantastic. It's really modern, super bright, and they've made great use of the space. You still get a great view of George Square, too. The stylists seem to enjoy how functional it all is. Now that they have reopened they've continued to have strict protocols - minimising contact, spacing out appointments, and requiring masks. So much has changed, and so little. They still take the time to sit down and get to know their clients, consult on what they're looking for, and include some little luxury extras like a head massage before they wash your hair. They use good products and tools. My hair always looks and feels great once Meg is done with it. She also takes into account how it will grow out. Honestly, I usually leave thinking it's a bit short, but then 2-4 weeks later it sits exactly how I had hoped. With other hairdressers I often find I have split ends after a few weeks, but my most recent cut still looks great 6 weeks on and I'm still getting compliments on it. If you're looking for a hair salon in Glasgow, look no further.

Mainly because I always do something drastic with my hair, or have a lovely massage. This being my favourite salon because it's an Aveda Salon, I try to come in here as much as possible. The amazing thing about this place are their Last minute deals on their website. I managed to scoop up a cut and style and a manicure both at discounted prices, both perfectly last minute before new years eve! I started my day of beauty with a shellac manicure. Typically, I go to these wham bam thank you ma'am kind of nail salons that are looking for a quick turnover. I was in shock when i was led down to the massage area of the salon and was given a manicure in one of the massage rooms. It was so peaceful and relaxing and the nail technician was friendly to boot. It's a rare occasion that any nail technician is chatty, let alone honestly seems like she cares about what you're saying. It was a nice touch. Next, she did my eyebrows, which were in desperate need of a good shaping. Again, another relaxing experience, everything was sanitary and clean, unlike other places in Glasgow that I've been to before. After I had my nails and brows done, i was led back upstairs to meet Jade, the stylist who did my hair. I always go in to Aveda when I want a change, and this time was no different. I was taken by an assistant who offered a complimentary head massage while I waited for Jade. Usually, I can take those or leave them, but I'm glad I took her up on the offer. With just enough pressure, she massaged my head and it was like heaven. I was just getting over a chest cold that was holding on for dear life, so it felt really nice to be pampered for a bit. She then took me over to wash my hair, which is always a treat, because Aveda products are by far my favourite and I always love using them. After that, the magic happened. My hair was just about past my shoulders and I decided to get an inverted bob. This style suits my face shape and it really brightens up my features. Jade is an amazing stylist, who is chatty and very confident when she's cutting hair. In between the cut and the styling, she blow dried part of my hair dry to get a better feel for how to cut it. While that was happening, the assistant offered me a hot bevvy, which I chose Hot Chocolate. She also gave me a complimentary hand massage. I was on cloud nine by the time I walked out of there. Of course I loved the end result and so did my guy, who I met for drinks after. It really was an amazing experience as always and I would highly recommend Jade as your stylist and James Dun's House as your salon!

One of their main selling points is the fact that they use Aveda - a totally organic and natural hair product. It smells amazing. If I could eat my hair, I would. When they cut your hair they offer free scalp and hand massages and a free make-up touch-up, so when I leave the salon I feel amazing. This Glasgow branch is very nice, very trendy and modern, but it's very much in the shadows of the Aberdeen branch and so has higher prices to boot. Although it is a lovely salon and the staff are brilliant, the prices are a bit steep. The Aberdeen branch is brilliant, however!!

This is surprising because there seems to be as many salons dotted about the city as there are pubs. Either you need to remortgage your house for meh results, your hair gets butchered, or the stylist bullies you into dyeing your already black hair black. Fortunately, I'm not one of those girls who cries when it comes to their hair, and my hair grows like. a. weed. After the bullying incident at another Merchant City salon, I thought I'd wait until I was back in NYC to get my hair done. Except my hair became annoyingly long, and that's where Chloe at Alan Edwards came to the rescue. Cute and quirky, she was exactly the opposite of the stylist during my last salon experience (*cough* Chesne). She actually listened to what I wanted, did not roll her eyes when I showed her a picture of the shape (a long bob), nor did she try and bully me into dying my hair or try to sell me products that I didn't need (though I did end up buying the Kérastase volume spray because it smells DIVINE!). My haircut was actually part of an itison deal, but after my experience and subsequent visits (I have since gone much shorter with trust), I would not hesitate to pay full price for the quality of service received. I think Alan Edwards Merchant City and Chloe might be a keeper... just might!

My hair was a flyaway mess before Taylor's, he studies your hair type, face and head shape, and cuts to suit, while being very attentive to the look you want to achieve yourself. The first time I visited the salon I felt a bit nervous as you do trying somewhere new but couldn't have been put more at ease by the friendly, professional staff - Taylor, Anne on reception who is also an expert on colour and knows just what suits you, Tammy who did a wonderful, natural job on the occasions I have had extensions and John whom I would recommend as the best person to blow dry your hair in Glasgow. I would also like to mention that my daughter, who is on the autistic spectrum has tried many hairdressers in the past but found it very difficult as she suffers anxiety, it got to the stage where I was cutting her hair myself. I persuaded her to try Taylor Ferguson's, she hasn't looked back, now visiting regularly and really enjoying her experience too! The customer definitely comes first in this salon.

I'd always wondered what this south side salon was like, but I was content in my long term relationship with my hairdresser. Unfortunately she up and moved to Australia earlier this year with just a letter in the post to let me know (heartbreak!) so I needed to find someone new. It took me an exorbitant amount of time to even book for a haircut and so by the time I made it here I was well in need of a cut. The salon is nice, if not a bit wee. There's an area downstairs too which is the beauty area which is good for privacy (they also do nails). I had my hair washed and massaged (a little more firmly than I'd normally like) and then my hair was taken care of by Lindsay. I wasn't looking for anything drastic, just a simple tidy and that's exactly what I got as well as getting my non-existent fringe sorted out. She was great at styling my hair just how I liked it as well, which was appreciated. They also have a loyalty card which gives you your 4th cut for 1/2 price, as well as an app which seems like it might have some good offers on it from time to time.

Price wise I think it's reasonable £30 - £40 for cut and blow dry depending on the level of person you go for. And they don't try to push lots of extra products (treatments?!?) when you are getting your hair washed etc. Which I like. Recently had quite a drastic cut here from very long to a bob and felt like the staff talked it through well with me and that I could speak up about how I wanted it. Rather than that awkward squeaky yeah I like it when really you don't. Would highly recommend - not gone for five stars as not had any other treatments from here

Given that my last run in with bleach resulted in blisters on my scalp, massive breakage and the very real threat of my only option being a skinhead, it took me till almost their first anniversary to make it in. I'm glad to report it was well worth the wait. I'm also not in the last ashamed to admit that in my quest for purple locks I as good as begged for bleach but this time with the wonder product olaplex. I'm afraid I'm not the person to give you sciencey facts and figures about this stuff. As far as I am concerned it is a magic potion created by fairies. It takes the evil out of the bleach, despite my hair being lightened from dark brown to platinum (before the purpling) it feels amazing and in great condition. After 'lifting' all the colour out of my hair the purpling commenced and I am so happy with the result. Bright, punchy and super shiny. In the salon I didn't feel that I was getting much of a cut, Tabitha didn't seem to spend very long brandishing the scissors but she must just be a speedy genius as my hair is sitting brilliantly - even when I completely neglect to even pretend to style it. Given the results I'd be heading back to Blow but on top of how chuffed I am with my do this is without a doubt the friendliest salon I've ever set foot in. I checked it over the next morning and as I was still so unhappy I sent an email and left a message with reception but the salon is not replying. I would not recommend this salon for colour. The salon does a lot of Instagram but is not good with customer service or colour. I have noticed that when customers leave bad reviews, the salon argues and blames the customer. Another reason not to visit.
