She even recognized that my son has a knack and love for math and offered to provide him some extra worksheets to keep his mind challenged during the summer months. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the camps are only from 9a-3p and I have to pay extra to be able to have them there from 8a-4p (and even that requires that my husband and I split drop-off and pick-up to accommodate our 8-hour work days). I appreciate that the camps are fun and educational, and I also appreciate that the attendees are diverse. The camps are pricier than others in the area, but they also have a small student-to-staff ratio of 6:1 that I prefer. (I find that larger ratios mean that well-intentioned adults don't always know what all the kids are saying/doing and my little ones pick up habits that I don't like). I also echo the challenge with the camp hours: 8am-4pm (with an extra daily cost for this extended care rather than 9am-3pm standard hours) is tricky for working parents. Even though the hours aren't ideal, we'll be sending our kids here again.

Shout out to Angie and the Tutor Doctor gang…read more In the fall as Covid and online learning drug on, we were pulling out our hair trying to get middle schooler and elementary schooler to engage in classes and complete assignments. Both kiddos who typically do well in school were struggling. When we engaged Tutor Doctor, they answered all our questions and matched us with an amazing tutor, Angie. Angie comes to our house. She helps our middle-schooler with 7th grade pre-algebra, Spanish, and paragraph structure and CERs for language arts. She then assists our 3rd grader with spelling, handwriting, and division. When she the kids transitioned back to in-person school she was able to pivot teaching styles. It's been so easy and incredible to have one tutor that is able to help our two kids at our house.

We engaged Mike to assist with our high school daughter who is currently enrolled in Trigonometry…read more Up until recently she was always an "A" student, but was having an issue with the recent material. Mike spent the first session reviewing what she already knew to get a good understanding of where her core weaknesses were. He then went back a few chapters to review some of the core concepts he felt she was lacking before moving to the current material. This allowed her to gain a REAL understanding of the concepts instead of just practicing memorization. Mike also helped her develop better study habits and take better notes during lectures. I am happy to report that she got an A on her last exam! With her study habits corrected, Mike doesn't need to come by as often now, but we do still conduct regular appointments so that we are sure she is on track and to make sure her understanding is where it should be. We really like that he comes to our home and it works out great for our schedule as well as helping our daughter feel more comfortable. I can't imagine another tutor being any more professional or knowledgeable than Mike.
