And upon our return, I'm still taking lessons because she is a great teacher and it is a beautiful language. The lessons are always different and they build upon each other. There are challenges in learning any new language and with Jen she circles back and builds upon prior lessons so you review some past learning and add new. That has been very reassuring because it reenforces what I've already learned so I don't forget previous lessons while I progress. The lessons are fun, we laugh and I learn. I highly recommend Jen as a SUPER (read with emphasis and inflection as the French do) French instructor. Marti S.

We turned to Varsity Tutors after a rough first semester with Honors Algbra 2 and Honors Biology…read more Things turned around quickly for my daughter, but perhaps the best thing was that her self-confidence in both subjects and her attitude about these two classes did a 180. It was telling that as she prepared for finals that one of her friends that she used to turn to when she had questions now came to her with questions as she prepared for her final exam. I have no doubt that the school year would have ended very differently if it had not been for Varsity Tutors.

Do not recommend them. Our Tutor was amazing. His name was Loren. He did great work with my son and…read moremy son made great progress and I appreciate that more than words. However, the platform needs some serious work. There was several times where I could not reschedule the session. It would not allow me to do so. It would let me go through all the steps and confirm yet it was never changed and then on top of that, my son who is 11 years old and doesn't always remember things as well as he should, forgot to attend a session and they charged me for that missed session in addition to what you already pay with which is a large fee every month. Will not use them again. Then, finally when I tried to provide them with feedback in their app, it would not accept my feedback that's interesting so you obviously don't want feedback. You just have that button there just for kick shits, and giggles.

It seems that step one would be to provide a positive and encouraging environment for the children. Instead they dread going because they know they will be devalued and demeaned. My kids (ages 6 and 8) have attended camps during spring break and summer and they both LOVE it!…read moreThey offer small group, hands-on activities with different themes every week. The staff are all friendly and Ms. Idil who runs it is very knowledgeable and good with the kids. She even recognized that my son has a knack and love for math and offered to provide him some extra worksheets to keep his mind challenged during the summer months. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the camps are only from 9a-3p and I have to pay extra to be able to have them there from 8a-4p (and even that requires that my husband and I split drop-off and pick-up to accommodate our 8-hour work days). If I could give 4.5 stars, I would :-) (Note that I am not offering a review on their tutoring services, only the camps)

I completely agree with the prior review: my kids have not taken tutoring here but did attend camp…read more My 5yo and 6yo really enjoyed the camp and want to attend on the next break. I appreciate that the camps are fun and educational, and I also appreciate that the attendees are diverse. The camps are pricier than others in the area, but they also have a small student-to-staff ratio of 6:1 that I prefer. (I find that larger ratios mean that well-intentioned adults don't always know what all the kids are saying/doing and my little ones pick up habits that I don't like). I also echo the challenge with the camp hours: 8am-4pm (with an extra daily cost for this extended care rather than 9am-3pm standard hours) is tricky for working parents. Even though the hours aren't ideal, we'll be sending our kids here again.

One of the very few schools that not only understands what it takes to create a successful and…read morepositive early childhood education experience, but demonstrates it in everything that they do here. My 4 year old is THRIVING here. He WANTS to go to school, even on days that he doesn't have school. (This was not the case last year at a different preschool.) As an educator, experienced in early childhood and elementary schools, I have been impressed with this school from the moment I first read about their philosophy on their website, to touring the school and seeing it in-person, to now having my child go to this school and seeing the positive impact that it is making on him and nurturing his love for learning and play. Not only have I been an educator for over 12 years, but I also wrote my Master's degree thesis on the importance of play. For those that want to learn more about why play is so important for children, check out the books: Einstein Never Used Flash Cards and Last Child in the Woods. To then have a child 4 years after writing my thesis and 4 years after that, find a school that actually understands, embraces, and models this essential part of childhood is so gratifying. My son especially loves when it is our "helping day" in the classroom and I love it too. I get to be a part of his learning, curiosity, and observe how he interacts with others and the world around him... this is so important to his growth and development in knowing how to best support and guide my child at home. "Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity." ~Kay Redfield Jamison

I asked them about the material each 2 weeks and asked what grade level it was applied to. They stated it was not applied to a grade level. However at the end of 8 weeks, $30,000 later I paid them, the director Liz tested him and told me he improved " TWO GRADE LEVELS". Having done testing on him prior to starting this program, that would have meant he went up to 7th grade and I was happy. Only until my education lawyer discovered they meant 2nd grade, and told me they did nothing for my son, to obtain a lawyer and proceed for fraud against the school. This school will ignore your questions, or issues. They will not reply to you after they think they have made their justification. They will not offer you a refund after you have proven their program didn't work. They will try to talk you into more testing done by them, and doing their academy which is $80,000 a year. This has been the most hurtful experience I have ever had with a company that claimed they could help my son, and did nothing but lie.
