I learned what it meant to have virtue. The teachers are the best people you will ever meet. Their joy and wonder for life and learning inspires me to this day. However, this school is not for the weak of heart. It takes grit and determination to do well with their classical education. But if you commit, you will learn what it truly means to be human. My love for learning flourished as did my love for the world around me. I will send my kids here one day. And hopefully be apart of the Golden View family forever.

In the elementary school, students are taught to read using an explicit phonics program with a focus on grammar and spelling, along with cursive handwriting. Saxon and Singapore math are strategically sequenced to take advantage of the strengths of each program. An early exposure to Latin and Greek roots is followed by a formal Latin sequence in grades 6-9 in order to enhance the student's vocabulary, spelling, and command of the English language. In the upper grades, instruction includes a course in rhetoric, the use of primary source documents, Socratic seminar, and the study of classical literature that has withstood the test of time. The teachers tend to be republican along with many of the students however very few teachers make their views known to students besides the occasional slip up. The teachers for 7th and 8th are not the best but after that it tends to get better. One problem some might have is the closed campus. While there being a closed campus on its own is not bad the food there isn't good at all. Your only option to get a good meal is to make your own lunch and bring it to school but that isn't always an option. Also if you want to be able to spend time with your child then don't send them to develyn as the work load is over the top with the principal saying that 3 hours of homework should be the norm. Overall, if your child does not cope with stress well do not send them here. In the end I don't think that this school is right for most people.

While other local…read moreschools are normalizing, they are telling parents that kids will be wearing masks and social distancing when school begins in August, 2021. By then, most high-risk folks will have been vaccinated. But, CA continues to put the needs of others over the social and emotional wellbeing of their students. There's talk that the kids will be able to "vaccinate their way out of wearing masks and social distancing in the fall." Some parents are not interested in this possibility until more information about vaccinating younger people becomes known. If you don't want to vaccinate your younger students, I'd look into another school.

The Colorado Academy community has helped raise our three boys. They talk non-stop about how grateful they are for this school and how transformative it has been for their child. Their child did not like school and did not play with other kids their age - they were timid and frightened. Now their child loves school and is a social butterfly - finding friends in their age group and beyond. There child has complained that they don't want the school year to end because they want to keep going to Havern every day. We are supporters of the school because the love and dedication given to each child is who attends is easy to see. If a child is having challenges, they respond right away by trying different teaching modalities or a different teacher until they find the right fit for that child. I've never seen that kind of responsiveness from a school. Do not let the lack of reviews here fool you - there is a reason families move from other states, cross country, or drive over an hour each way to go to Havern. I think most families, like our friends, are private and want to protect their child's privacy, which is why there are so few reviews here.

There are numerous academic and extracurricular clubs as well as every sport, including both cut and no-cut sports. The facilities are amazing. They continue to upgrade both academic and extracurricular spaces strategically for the students to thrive and enjoy their experience. We are looking forward to sending our next child here. Specifically, Jennifer Zercher; Mrs. Zercher refuses to release my daughter whenever I need to pick her up from the school. She always answers the phone with a rude tone, and never seems to be happy to assist parents and students with their needs. Not once, have I ever been satisfied when directed to her for help. I am furious that the rest of the Bear Creek High School Admin would allow her to continue to greeting parents like this, However it leads me to think; Is the rest of the staff this ill- mannered and dense?
