As a young woman it's important to learn self defense and his classes are about as real as you'll get with the real life situation. I learned how to fight standing up and on the ground. MMA Class - consisted of an intense workout drill for the first 15-20 minutes of class Bootcamp style. Then went on to go over technique such as punches and kicks. Towards the end of class you sometimes get to spar with the instructor so that he tests your technique and how you react quickly. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - starts off with a warm up, then he goes over technique step by step like a dance. As a dancer that made it easier to learn and it's those small details that other BJJ schools look over that makes a difference. Then at the end you spar once or twice with someone in class. I tried two other schools before decided for Houston Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and they're not as detail oriented as Art who actually went through the Gracie Academy Instructor Program.
