Fast forward 6+ months and I honestly think that I'm in the best shape of my life...or at least since high school. I recently turned 40 and because of my workouts at Urban Jungle I have no mobility issues; the creakyness I was starting to get is gone! I can easily play on the floor with my kids and sprint after them. On my 40th birthday I was also able to do 40 pushups, I huge accomplishment for me, and 100% attributable to the urban jungle workouts. This is a great spot and I highly recommend the the functional fitness and cardio kick box classes. They'll work you hard :)

This happened a couple years ago, so I can't speak to how things are handled there now. But I had a…read morenegative experience trying to contact the Westchase flagship location about a serious concern connected to my experience at another affiliated location. The concern involved safety, conduct, and how issues involving staff or members were being handled. I made four separate calls to four different people, was unable to get a hold of anyone, left my callback information, and explained generally that I was trying to raise a serious concern that I believed warranted awareness or oversight. I did not receive a callback or meaningful follow-up. I am not reviewing any one person individually. My concern is that I attempted to raise a serious issue through multiple channels connected to the flagship location and was met with silence. With time, what stands out to me most is not only the original situation, but the lack of meaningful follow-up when I tried to raise it through what I understood to be appropriate channels. That kind of non-response leaves things unresolved. It also leaves the person who raised the concern carrying the consequences alone. In a martial arts environment, especially one involving physical training and close contact, trust and safety depend not only on what happens on the mat, but also on whether concerns can be raised and handled responsibly. From my experience at the time, I did not feel there was a reliable process for escalation, accountability, or member support.

Which comes with a 30 day group training. Group training is not bad decent workout, the class is outside in the back of the gym not the best place given there are a lot of interesting smells due to all the trash cans but there is no other spot. As far as eye candy I have been there a few times now and nope there isn't any. Just that simple, not in the gym working out, not in the class just a spot to go workout. Make sure when you go take a bottle of water a big bottle because there is no water fountain. Which shocks be given it is a gym!

My son started about 3 years ago in Tae Kwon do because he was being harassed at school. We started at another location until we met Master Julio at a tournament. My son has been at his school now for 2 years and I have nothing but positive things to say. Everything from convenient class times to how dedicated Master Julio is to all of his student no matter what level they may be. The school is set up in 3 levels the top being the Tae Kwon Do area, the middle floor is the waiting area and the bottom floor is for boxing and hop ki do(this is probably mispelled). The prices are very reasonable especially considering the amount of individual time he spend with the students. In addition to all of that...Master Julio is the best trainer/coach for competitive tournaments that you will find in Houston or probably anywhere. I highly recommend this school.

I am so glad that I have found this place!…read more I was on the search for a trustworthy, reliable martial arts school for my 6 year old son. After going through countless phone calls and online searches, I found Meng's Martial Arts. Facility is clean, spacious and well maintained. Plenty of room for students to exercise and learn. Diverse class and Sifu Ryan usually has an extra set of helpers/assistants to assist the students. The staff is very attentive and gives a lot of emotional and physical support. The Tiny Tiger program (ages 4-7 I think) meet 3 times a week, for 45 minutes which I believe is great in addition to their reasonable prices! The class is more than just being physical and learning self defense. My son has learned to be more respectful and disciplined, to have more self control and awareness. His attitude has changed so much, and he's made new friends! Parents are more than welcome to lounge around in the lobby, or sit on the sidelines and observe the class. If you're looking for a martial arts class for your child (or yourself) this place is it! They're very open to new students, and have no issues answering any questions or concerns. I know my son is in great hands at this school.

In that short amount of time, I can already tell that Main Street is the REAL DEAL. No fluff. No games. Just work. The two-story structure has 3 rings, 15+ heavy bags, and knowledgeable trainers. If you listen to the instructions and try your best, you will learn the proper technique and become a better boxer, athlete, and person. I also appreciate how Main Street has its own App. Zen Planner is an iPhone and Android application that allows patrons to sign-up for a membership, pay gym fees, and keep track of the schedule. Had the chance to "let" my 12 year old Monster-in-the-making secure submissions on his old man (me) at a 3 to 1 ratio (in his favor lol). It is pretty well known that BJJ just plain works. P.S.: I said "let" only because I agreed to get on the mat with him... I didn't "allow" him to get a submission until we had been at it (rolling) for about 20 min... and that was after five min of stretching and ten minutes of informal drills. He finally wore me out toward the end and got his last one (of 3, after I basically gave up, gassed out (yes I need to take better care of myself), but he got the first two righteously.
