Grace's market is the top gourmet food market on Long Island. The establishment started on the upper east side many decades ago. When it decided to add another location, on Long Iislands Gold Coast it brought many cheers to the area. I drove all the way from Syosset to get fresh prepared food for my house. Tucked in a nondescript strip right off Glen Cove Road, this market would be easy to miss. It's a small specialty market that has groceries, meat, seafood, poultry as well as cooked food and a deli. They also have a cafe where you can eat their food in the back if you're so inclined. Stopped in to grab a few sandwiches and we were not disappointed. The menu has a large range of offerings but everything was freshly made and tasted good. My personal favorite was the mangiare (pastrami on a roll with cheese and russian dressing). The staff here was excellent and prices were fair. A good place to stop by if you need to grab a quick bite if you're in the area. read more

High prices like $20 for a barbecued chicken - but today took the cake when the ordered a medium hot coffee - the sign said "customizable" and listed many different kinds of milk and " flavors" // $.60. Would you believe I told the clerk I wanted to taste the flavor in the coffee! So in my medium size coffee he put 4 spritzes and charged me $.60 per spritz- went to management who could not believe it either and was very nice and refunded $2.00. This place has lots of cheeses, deli, bread, lean meat, and has something tempting in every department. The place is cool and the manager that was there was super friendly and helpful. Tons of salads in the deli. They have a cool café in the middle of the place for lunch. Stools around a bar sort of. If your a carnivore..... their "90%" sirloin is genuinely lean and they grind it themselves... super lean... could actually exceed 90 - I never read the package.. I look at the color... (Have you ever been in a Walbaum's and seen their "93%" it's pink and looks like 70% - think about what that means for your heart) They have Italian and French bread and some flavored dinner rolls- a bit spongy but the girl is super nice.. Not crispy etc.. One warning: *** They tried their hand at a display of fill a bottle from kegs of Olive oil.... and Balsamic vinegar... They have three olive oils... Italian.. Greek and Californian............. tried the Italian one... ********Stay clear..... felt like something bad happened after the tiniest taste from a mini spoon. HORRID. Not sure how bad olive oil tastes until today because I have never experienced it.. ... the suppliers have buffaloed poor Graces buyers! Hideous!! beyond explanation. Terrible.... The food itself is good, however, every time I come in and get lunch, whether it is a salad or sandwich, they always try to sneak in extra charges! $.75 for a side of mayo for my sandwich?! It depends who you get behind the counter, depends on the price-nothing is consistent! This also goes for their fresh meats. Check your price sticker before they ring you up! I get that everyone has bad days, but that should not effect the customer service. The management team is far from helpful. They won't own when a mistake is made, will not refund you, and do not care if they lose your business. In my opinion, that is bad business. My family is in the restaurant industry and as owners we always strive to take care of our customers and make things right. A refund of $7 costs much less than loosing a customer for good! read more

Gourmet grocery. There is a proliferation of these gourmet places which to me, seems like some fiendish plot devised to take money from people with too much of it. Maybe that isn't a bad thing... Grace's is relatively small in the world of gourmet stores - they have a lot of stuff jammed into a small box. Prices are just retarded. Yes - that's right - you have to be a doof to buy anything here. I find that a lot of the people that shop in places like this walk up and down the aisles saying things like "oh this is soooo lovely" and so on. Personally, I think the regulars that go to these stores are more interested in their image. Poseurs. There is nothing in Grace's that cannot be had in many other stores of this type at much cheaper prices. Fairway and North Shore Farms have them beat hands down on every level. for instance, the cheese sections alone at either Fairway or N.S. Farms totally BLOWS AWAY the meager offering at Graces. Indeed! Looking at some of the other reviewers on here, I'd have to guess they don't get out often - "no other places likes this"? You gotta be kidding me - this is just a me-too place. Have had lunch delivered from this location several times. It was tolerable a year ago, but it is disgusting now. Ordered the "classic" philly cheese steak sandwich and if having more than half the meat be gristle, two tiny pieces of grilled onions and no noticeable cheese is classic, then keep it. I took photos, it was so disgusting. To top it off, there was zero flavor in the 25% of the sandwich which could be chewed. Ordered a $13 salad which was tiny and with wilted lettuce. The fries are greasy. The lunch delivery choices are limited and uninspired. The staff rarely gets the order correct. Image receiving an icebox cold serving of tilapia without the advertised vegetables -- to an office. When I decided I no longer wanted to do in-store shopping I was pleased to realize Grace's would do the shopping for me. The Graces Cafe is one of Long Islands best kept secrets. The quality of the food is fresh and delicious. They are very flexible in preparing virtually anything you want. Grace's is a clean, upscale store with a wide variety of foods that can cater to almost every palate. Their staff is hardworking and friendly, HOWEVER, someone needs to put a leash, (perhaps literally) on their store manager. Last Friday, I saw him parading around the cafe/dining area with his shirt completely open. Honest to God. I didn't realize middle-aged chest hair came with my coffee order, and if I did, I would've gone somewhere else. A customer, who clearly knew him, came up to him and gave him a friendly suggestion to button up. Not only did he leave his shirt open, but when she asked him to cut some produce she was purchasing, he literally took a pen and started to sign her chest. (????) Embarrassed, I overheard her say, "uh, are you seriously writing on me right now?" To which he responded, "come on, everybody loves it," which sounds like its straight out of a handbook for perverts. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
