The food is really good, but they are overpriced. I wanted the jerk chicken wings. Alone $8.50 with rice $19. That's crazy!! So, I paid over $20 to get this 6 wings. They won't sell you more than 6 wings on an order. Really? I wish I lived closer to Cool Runnings. I bought the food anyway, but wished I had gone to Da Seafood Connect. To be fair the service is cool. I do not know much about the ambiance. I never eat there. Note to the owners...provide number of wing choices like 6, 8, 10. No one should pay an additional 10 dollars just for some rice. I did. Again, crazy!!! read more

Best AUTHENTIC Jamaican restaurant in Houston. Quiet place, quick service and delicious food and homemade juices. I do not eat pork and love that on Wednesday they make stew peas with oxtail instead of pork and make it the regular way on Saturday so I can still enjoy it. I see so many comments saying they're rude but that has never been my experience and I've been going for over 8 years. I was told they do not Cater but when I asked her to cook several large portions for my twins Sweet 16 two years ago she agreed and went above and beyond and did it for me. Very genuine woman. If you speak they speak and if you're friendly they're friendly. Try it!! read more

A small family run restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff offered friendly service with a smile. The oxtail plate with rice and peas and the meat patties are my favorites. read more

This was, hands down, one of the worst meals I've ever had. I was craving Jamaican food and thought I'd give this place a shot. Big mistake. I don't know what's going on in that kitchen, but someone needs to be held accountable -- because they're out here serving spoiled food like it's no big deal. Let's start with the snapper. It smelled off the moment I opened the box. I still gave it a shot -- and I immediately regretted it. The fish was mushy, sour, and absolutely spoiled. Like, this-should-not-be-served-to-humans level spoiled. I couldn't even swallow the first bite. I was worried I'd get sick. Then came the oxtail sauce. What should've been rich and flavorful came oily and also smelled funky -- like it had been sitting out for too long. The whole plate tasted like leftovers gone wrong. And not just "oh no I left it in the fridge too long" wrong -- more like "this should've been thrown away days ago" wrong. Even the sides couldn't save it. The rice and peas were mediocre and the cabbage was just ok. The cabbage was the only halfway decent thing but by that point, I was too grossed out to enjoy anything. Honestly, I'm shocked this place is still open. Serving spoiled food isn't just lazy -- it's dangerous. I hate leaving bad reviews, but people deserve to know. This wasn't Jamaican food. This was a health risk. Do better. read more

I spotted this little cafe as I dropped my daughter off at dance camp at the fabulous Fort Bend Academy of Art and Dance in the same strip center. When I saw Jamaican food painted on the window, I knew I was in for a dinner encounter. It was closed Monday, but I stopped by Tuesday to try the patties. I spied cabbage and plantains on the menu, but sadly they were sold out! I got two patties - chicken and veggies. The crust was just right. The chicken was flavorful and not too spicy. The veggie was fresh and wholesome. I finished it for breakfast. Service wise, there were no grand gestures, but respectful, quick interactions. It's definitely a neighborhood joint where customers are known. If I'm in the area again, I'll stop by to see if plantains and cabbage are available and if they are indeed delicious. Based on the gateway offerings (Jamaican patties), Grace's Cafe might be worth your time and energy. Blessings and happy dining, Friends. read more

Great food, very attentive staff, nice clean establishment. The food was decently priced & had some great options.

I love this food. It has the best oxtails that I have ever had. Every thing that I have tried is always delicious!

Absolutely the best Jamaican food in the Houston area and I've been to most all of them

Worst customer service experience I have had in Houston. Hostess is very disrespectful she called my wife crazy because of the question she asked vs giving a simple answer. This establishment acts as if it's a privilege for you to spend money with them. I will never return to this restaurant again!! read more

I stopped here because a friend and I was in the area, I walked in glanced over the menu. The lady walks to the back and sends the guys out which was weird and the gentleman proceeded to take my order. I ordered the oxtails over rice and peas with cabbage, four Jamaican beef patties lemonade and a ginger beer totaling $32. The customer service from the two guys were good. The lady however very f**king rude she seems to be the owner and I will not be going back! The attitude and vibe from her was very nasty and unwelcoming. The oxtails was a 6/10, the beef patties were a 7/10. read more

Food is good, but the service SUCKS!!! I often wonder how they're still open but I guess it's people like myself who "deal with" the lack of service for the sake of the flavorful food...can't we have great food and SERVICE?! Went on a Saturday and waited for them to open at 11am...I walk up expecting the doors to be open since they open at 11am. Nope, I was told the food wasn't ready and was told they'll be opening at 11:30am...so unprofessional and rude!!! read more

Five reasons why I gave this eatery five stars! 1. The place is clean including the bathrooms. 2. The food is true Jamaican food cooked to perfection. 3. The fish dishes are always fresh or they won't sell it. 4. They have yet to get caught up on raising their prices to satisfy the word recession vs taking care of their community in which they have served and has served them. 5. The staff is very nice and approachable. Never had a rude experience here. I prefer the Red Snapper or the Curry Goat on my days off. If I am working and don't want a heavy meal a cup of soup and a patty will hold me over. Don't forget your Ting. read more

This was worth the drive! Excellent food. So grateful that masks are required. Great service!! read more

The food was authentic & real! Good food, had the oxtail, this how oxtail supposed to taste with sauce. Rice soft & flavorful, her cabbage best in Houston, 2nd to my girl only lol. But this place is golden for the ones who know. I'm Caribbean so i know & appreciate this place coming from miami read more

If I have to call for prices. Business is not being run right. What's up with calling for prices. Why are they changing. It not like your serving in season only meats and vegetables read more

The food is great, authentic Jamaican cuisine. Now, if only they can open on time and have the food ready when the doors open. I have patronize many Jamaican restaurants in the Houston area but I keep coming back to this one because of the quality of the food. However, it is so disappointing that they do not value their patrons time. I have learned to call first, to inquire if the food is ready before I drive across town. There should not be a trade off, food quantity over service. If the service was good, I would definitely give them five stars! Another good thing is that the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Again to me, Grace's Cafe has the best Jamaican food in the Houston area PERIODT! read more

Rice was hard. Food was ok. Don't think I'll be going back. The ginger beer was good tho.

Terrible customer service from the lady with the black framed glasses. First time here. She made me feel like I was a burden. Anyhow, food was good though ‍ read more

Went again. This time the jerk wasn't done. Ordered the curry and brown stew chicken. Super basic. The stew chicken was better than the curry. The curry needed more salt. Also it didn't have potatoes in it. I think its the best part of the dish. The stew had a ketchup after taste. I did not enjoy it.. This place I will pass on in the future. The patties were good. We ordered a beef, chicken, and veggie. read more

My husband and I wanted to try the food here at this place because I heard about them, well the experience was not good. The customer service was horrible and she was rude, my husband wanted Oxtails so he asked what comes on the meal and lady told him that a picture of it was the side wall, he explained to her that it was his first time thats he was asking. The food wasn't all that good and my husband food didn't look like what on the picture. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING TO ME AND I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! read more

Typical Jamaican restaurant. Rude staff; great patties. lol. The oxtail was okay it needed some seasoning and of course they pack your plate with more rice than anything else. Ask for extra oxtail gravy on your rice. I would return for the patties if I'm ever passing by this area. But I don't see myself becoming a regular here. read more

A coworker of mine treated myself and another to lunch today. She purchased three (3) plates from here. Curry chicken/Stew chicken were the only thing prepared by their opening time of 11am; sorry, rice/peas also available. No vegetables were ready outside of a salad they threw together. I'm truly disappointed, this is not Grace's cooking I remember from BMC days. Hardly any gravy, meat was dry may have been re-heated from the day before and crispy pieces of rice. 1) If you promote opening at 11a, pls have more of your menu available for choosing, 2) If not ready to serve, don't serve food from day before and 3) we as customers pay quite a penny for your cuisine of which we are under the assumption is true quality. I'm truly sorry my friend/cowkr spent her hard earned money on mediocre food. read more

I ended up here after my very pregnant sister begged me to take her here for Carribean food. Now I'm not one to really venture out into island foods but this place was actually pretty good. It's very homey, mom and pop type place and super comfy. I ordered a large oxtail dinner with white rice and cabbage. Now they did get my order wrong by giving me rice and peas instead of white rice but they were super cool with fixing It and even gave me more oxtails for the trouble. It's a bit pricey in my opinion but they do give you quite a lot of food but it's super hot and brought out super quick. I personally wouldn't just jump to come back, mainly because I'm not one that craves this type of food, but if I needed a good oxtail and rice spot and I was in the area, I'd def drop by. read more

I'm very disappointed to pay $20 to have 3 piece wings salad n rice n a soda! Naw man that's not value & no salad dressing not even seasoned! Just very disappointing it was lunch time I got charged dinner! read more

First time eating at Grace's Cafe and I have to say I wasn't the least bit impressed, worst Restaurant I have ever been Front desk was rude told us it would be an hour wait it was more like 2 hrs. Manager was the least bit concerned about our asking him what was going on. Me and my family was VERY DISAPPOINTED, and not to mention the food was NOT good read more

MEAT PIES. MEAT PIES. CHICKEN PIES. MEAT PIES. Light, flavorful with spices that warm up your mouth, flaky, and delicious. I think I can eat like 400 of these a day. Order the meat pies. You won't regret it. read more

I was a little skittish about this place because of other people's comments about the service. I went there and the lady who took my order was nice. no real issues there. Ordered my food (jerk chicken meal and beef meat pie) which was ready in less than 5 minutes and I left. The chicken was pretty damn good with a slightly spicy sauce. One of the pieces was a bit cold as if it had been warmed up in the microwave but not completely. Still was really good. That beef patty tho.... *flames emoji* I'll definitely be back for that. read more

First let me start by saying that the lady in the kitchen was very rude and short with me. The chicken was very dry and everyone in my family did not like it and we all love chicken. The ox toes were dry and the sauce with my flavorful. The beef patties we're OK. I don't think I will be back I will stick with cool runnings read more

The redeeming quality is that the oxtails taste great. The service is dreadful. None of the servers speak when you enter. They scowl at you like you're a bother. 4-5 times, no oxtails were cooked, & I was told to wait up to an hour on my 30 minute lunch break. Only one person knows how to operate the credit card machine. No apology is made for the delays. You can call an order in, & you will STILL be waiting 15 minutes because they're not prepping a thing until you are physically there. They are just RUDE & arrogant. read more

I ordered took a problem and I was called by my deliveryman saying that the items that I ordered they no longer had so I compromise and I said since my entire order came out to $40 give me one more medium Oxtail ( which was 12 and my order would only be 24 at this point) some kola and ting to bring the total up to $40. when my food arrived I got two medium oxtails and that was all that was in the bag, not to mention there was about 3 pieces of oxtail in each tray, the rice was hard and it was barely any sauce I am extremely disappointed read more

Recommended by a friend of mine for having some good jerk chicken & they were on point. Rice and peas with oxtail gravy on the rice gets 2 Salutes. Service was cool but it seemrd like a lil tude was shown maybe bcuzi was a new face. Overall will try more of the menu in the future read more

The food is very satisfying. One of my favorite spot to stop when in town. My favorite is the roti! Yummy and authentic

I've been coming here for a long time. since b4 2012, Today makes at least 7+ yrs. I drive pretty far too. Today I drove about 40 mins from my school. I got there 130ish. The fried Dumplings weren't done, the cabbage wasn't done. If the restaurant is open for business why isnt the food done? They don't give much meat(my large oxtail was $14 and pack the plate with rice. They had maybe an ounce of lettuce one tomato and 2 cucumbers and called that a salad. The owners husband won't crack a smile for the life of him. and I'm good at making ppl laugh I'm funny as hell. Lmao. From this point I won't be returning I'll try the jamaican restaurant cool runnings I hear it's pretty good. read more

I'm not one to normally write review but I wanted to stop and take a moment to write one for this business in particular. I have been coming here for YEARS. My son is now 6 & they have been feeding me since before I was pregnant! This business is ran by the father, the mother & her daughter. They are Jamaican family and the food is definitely authentic. If this isn't supporting black owned businesses I don't know what is. The mother cooks, cleans, serves & is the cashier. The daughter cooks & serves as so does the father. They have chicken, veggie, & beef (my fav) patty's, oxtails, jerk chicken, curry shrimp, stew & all types of other amazing items. Some items sell out quick like the jerk wings while others are ready later In the afternoon (due to freshly made & long cooking times) like the oxtails but it's worth the wait! I noticed there was a complain about the call In orders being prepared when you come in but who wants soggy jerk chicken that's been sitting there for 15 min because you're running late in traffic now you want a new plate? I think not! They value the quality of the food here and it's a small staff with a huge demand. I hope everyone takes the time to read this and give this place a try. Definitely don't forget to tip! Every dollar matters and that honestly to a hard working family. read more

Amazing food! My husband went to get dinner yesterday and we both had the large oxtail plate. It was so good and a huge portion. We liked it some much I came in today and got the oxtails again. My husband tried the goat. Really good. We will be back! read more

Beef patties and fried dumplings are sooo good. My BF likes the Oxtails and jerk wings.

Definitely the best Jamaican oxtails I have had in Houston. The meat just comes off the bones and the gravy it cooks in is so flavorful. The rice and beans are yummy and the plantains are always cooked just right. I have also tried the Jerk Chicken and it is always so good and cooked just right. They definitely dont kill it making it too spicy. It is always seasoned to perfection. 2 plates and a side of plantains will cost about 30 bucks. ... but I have never come across cheap Jamaican food so its expected and I never mind here. read more

Heard about this spot from several people. Made it a bit early today and waited 20 minutes for it to open at 11 am. They did not open the doors until 11:15am. I waited and talked with another customer on the porch. When we finally entered the guy at the counter stated all they had ready was curry goat and the remainder of the menu would be ready in 20-30 minutes. The other gentleman didn't say a word and walked out. I ordered the curry goat. Then he tells me I had to have cash b/c the lady with the credit card machine wasn't there yet!!! Thankfully I had some cash which I seldom carry otherwise I would've walked out as well. The food was good. Not great but good. I drove across Houston for this and was disappointed. Could've went to Caribbean Hot Pot where I normally go. May try it again if I'm in the area already and it'll be much later than there opening time. The remainder of the menu might be ready by then. read more

Love this place!! The beef and chicken patties are awesome!! My favorite is the roti! It's a Trini style roti and it's soo good!

I love this place. The jerk wings are deliciously spicy and tender. I always go for the brown stew chicken, rice and peas, and cabbage. Their fry dumplings are good as well. The place is a little divey, you walk in and order at the counter. If you walk in and sit at a table, you will be sitting! Service is friendly and pretty fast. Authentic Jamaican food inclusive of Ting! read more
