First time here today and overall left happy. Made appointment for regular manicure and dipping powder manicure for us. Inside is not too large but clean and fairly updated. Noticed lots of returning customers since owner asked or knew what usuals they wanted. Price: reasonable all things considered being in blue back and all. There are cheaper places nearby as well. Here, today December 2023, $15 for manicure (+$5 extras to remove my gel) . $35 for gel manicure. Regular pedicure is $36. My friend got dipping which was $49. Location: blue back very convenient if you live in the area, that said, street or public parking both cost money Monday to Saturday. Don't want to pay, come on a Sunday. Great location if you're having a nail date with a friend, makes grabbing a meal afterwards in the area easy since it's always nice to stroll around blue back. Service/quality: friendly owner who communicated well, place had a youthful vibe since most nail techs were young. Quick massage for manicure, gave us a free 10 min massage card for next time along with a returning 10 times card. They also have membership for $30/year that comes with some discount benefits. Recommend booking an appointment since walk in could be tough, especially popular times in the day and weekends. Johnny and Angela do a wonderful job with my pedicures and gel manicures, and while I must drive a distance to get there it is well worth it. I called ahead and they fit me right in, no wait. I didn't request a nail tech by name and I lucked out with Jason, the owner- he did a fantastic job! Really took his time with the shaping and they came out beautiful. I think I just found my new nail guy! Very friendly, reasonably priced. One of my nails had broken previously and was super short. He added an acrylic tip to it, free of charge! Super nice. Some other nail places I've been to in the area have a very strong acetone smell or the nail techs try to push additional services onto you- not this place! So I went here on 2 occasions: 1st time- I went to get a pedicure which I did like it, the lady took her time doing it. I also had acrylic nails which I wanted to remove. I called about 2hrs to schedule an appointment and ask for the prices as it was my 1st time visiting the shop $35 pedi, $20 soak off (don't quote me on the soak off price) When it was time to remove the nails Hana, who did my pedicure as well, was about to yank the acrylic nails with the metro card seen tucked in the basket. She started on my pinky tried the ring finger and asked if it was hurting which I replied "YES, aren't you going to soak them?" if I wanted to yank my nails and damage my nail bed I'd do so at home, for free and not pay $20 to have them yanked with a metro card (the audacity) Anyway, after I said it hurts, she proceeded to tell me how much it was to have the nails soaked off, and if I was ok with the price, I replied "YES" She then proceed to file my nails, and remove it the correct way. It wasn't the best nail soak off I ever gotten, but it is what it is 2nd time I called to schedule a pedicure, upon arrival I wasn't greeted, because they were busy chatting amongst themselves anyway I sat down and got my pedicure done by Chris, he was so nice, gentle and was a great experience I recommend that you ask for Chris when getting your pedi. I did not feel as though I was valued as a new customer. I asked a couple of questions about gel manicure as information was not posted that I could see. The woman doing the pedicure was somewhat curt and inattentive. The pedicure was less than 15 min long, with a lousy leg massage that was timed so that she didn't go over 5 minutes. Very costly with a $20 upcharge for gel! I still have rough skin in the bottom of my feet because she spent no time at all. Why would anyone go here when there are so many reasonably priced places with excellent customer service in West Hartford? For me, a pedicure is a luxury that I save for and look forward to. I have been a client at this salon for almost 10 years. Today I walked in for a regular manicure. Sunny, my favorite there, was available so she started my manicure. I hadn't been there in a while. I wanted to schedule a regular manicure for next couple weeks then a mani/pedi for a few weeks out. Owner Jason said his policy is that REGULAR manicures only can NOT be scheduled. Walk in only. This was all while Sunny was doing my manicure . I questioned his policy and said it is difficult to just do walk in because many times they are busy and can not accommodate and I really wanted to make an appt. He got very rude at this point. Just got my first post-COVID pedicure and it was GREAT!! Simple shifts to align what they do to meet CDC guidelines include but are not limited to transparent curtains around the chairs. The best pedicure I have ever gotten!! I got the "Silky Milky" pedicure to aid my dry, wintery feet and it was amazing! First they cover your legs in moisturizer and a hot towel and Saran Wrap those to your calves. Those stay on for a good 20-30 minutes so your legs come out SUPER soft! They scrub your feet so much and get off all of the calluses you could possibly have. And they rub your feet and legs with salt scrub! They trim your cuticles and shape your toe nails to perfection! A hot stone massage is also included to warm you up. I was seriously in heaven!! I can't forget to mention that the lotion put on at the end smells like hot chocolate!! They stick with the "milky" theme for sure They have dryers there for your feet so they don't just send you on your way with wet nails. Everything is perfectly planned out and smells amazing! They also have a membership program that is $30 that gets you a pedicure on your birthday (worth $30 on its own) as well as % rewards. Might be worth looking into!! I would highly recommend the Silky Milky pedicure ($55). Don't forget to tip in cash though! The credit card form doesn't have a tip section. The owner Jason was upset about someone requesting their money back from yesterday over the phone. he proceeded to scream into the phone and after he hung up was swearing at the top of his voice about his frustration. Over the course of the next 15 minute he was screaming and yelling full volume in the salon. It was the most unprofessional and least relaxing manicure I have ever gotten. I previously gave this place five stars because I had so many great experiences here and the customer service is always outstanding. I stand by that, but the last two times I went, one of my gel nails chipped in less than 3 days. This time it happened the day I was leaving for a long vacation so I didn't have time to get it fixed. It's just disappointing when that happens since you pay so much for the gel manicures to begin with, and they're expected to last about 2 weeks. If the service I paid for lasted longer, I absolutely would have kept my review at 5 stars. The business itself is clean and always professional. They have an enormous color selection. This was my 1st time coming to this nail salon and I will NEVER GO BACK! I warn you now, go someplace else! I had a gel manicure and the lady was horrible. She cut 2 of my cuticles so short that they bled. 1 wasn't bad & stopped bleeding immediately but on my index finger she cut the cuticle so deep that it bled the entire time! In the 10 years I've been getting my nails done at other places, I have never had this bad of an experience! She never apologized and said I moved my finger & that's how she "scraped the cuticle." So she blamed me for her horrible service. She then proceeded to paint that nail, even dipping the brush in the blood & smearing it on my nail. She kept putting oil and alcohol on my cuticle which made it burn & keep bleeding. She even had me put my hand under the UV light. By the end of the procedure it was still bleeding & throbbing. The lady was very unprofessional and did not follow proper cleanliness protocol by contaminating all of the equipment. Even the rest of my nails were not perfectly painted. There was paint around the skin by my nails & not evenly filed (Some of my nails are longer than the others). I still had to pay the full $30 it cost for the manicure. Well the people who actually took us said $40 for a spa pedi which included.. hot stones, massage, paraffin. I mean it was impressive for $42.50 to be exact. However, Katie L seemed to have received a spa mani/medi for the same price I paid w/o the mani? Anyway, I wanted a french pedi and I was told my nails were too short? What? Since when do you need claws on your feet to get a french pedi? You draw the line where you draw the line. Short or long nails. They didnt seem to get that which made me skeptical how my experience was going to be.I have to say I was impressed. Great soak, massage, hot stones, paraffin on the heels. Great paint job and then a hot towel shoulder massage when you're drying. Wow. I went on a snowy Monday and it was slow, so without an appointment I didn't have to wait. Dustin did my nails and they feel amazing!! For $30 + tip I received a gel nail polish removal, gel manicure, 7 minute back massage and paraffin wax treatment. This is the best spa experience around. The staff takes care to ask exactly what you want and accommodates requests graciously. Every service I've received has come with a lovely paraffin wax moisturizing feature that leaves my skin so soft and fragrant, and on top of that, every service also comes with a warm towel massage which is so deliciously relaxing. They play great music, are always friendly, and try very hard to accommodate walk-ins. They always apologize profusely if they can't fit people in or are running behind. Grace Nails is very popular (for good reason!!) so I definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment if you can - 24 hours or more in advance is best. I went here yesterday with one of my friends and was treated horrible. I had gel nail polish on prior to going and had them soak them off, after the process my nails were dented and completely damaged. I had asked the lady doing my nails to fix the croaked uneven lines of my french manicure when she started giving me problems. She turned to the man which I believe was named Jason (the man with tattoos). He then asked me what was going and I explained that the french tips were very croaked and didn't look good. He then proceeded to tell me only gel french manicures would look even. I was asking why they would advertise something that wasn't able to be done correctly, he continued to yell at me and tell me to "calm down" because there were other customers and when I was getting upset he only yelled more. After the confrontation with the man who was doing my friends nails he continued to get rough with her and was rude. She wanted to tip him because her acrylic nails did come out well however in a huff the man stormed out of the salon as soon as he finished her nails. This is my go-to salon in W. Hartford for my nails. I typically see Jason or Nicole and they are both really good. I do suggest making an appointment as they do get busy. One thing I will say is that when I make an appointment, they are 99% of the time on time. That is VERY unusual in this industry. I had another salon I went to before this one and I would make an appointment and be waiting for 30-45 min before I was seen. So, they do a good job here of keeping schedules!
