My father (dx ALS) was a patient with Grace and was wrongfully discharged because they claimed Medicare would no longer pay because he was "not declining " quick enough to continue service. They also threatened to make us pay for ambulance when my father had developed a serious infection and and needed to go to ER for treatment. (their doctors could not see him for that week. ) He has started with a new hospice company who are baffled as to why someone is his condition who have service terminated. Grace Hospice took loving good care of my mother during the last month of her life while she was residing at Portland Assisted Living and Memory Care. I so appreciated their attention to detail and them explaining to me what was happening as Mom's body began to shut down. Even when Mom was sleeping and unresponsive, I would show up to find a hospice nurse or their dear chaplain in the room with her, caring for her. They still reach out to me to see how the family is doing now that she is gone. It was absolutely the right decision to have them involved in helping us keep Mom feeling as comfortable as possible and safe and loved during this difficult time.
