And now that it seems like the mayor not only decriminalizing breaking car windows but is offering free meals for car air fresheners, the necessity to find somewhere safe is just as important as price. That's why Grace is so perfect. Because God will hear you pray for people to leave your car alone. No garage can guarantee safety, but this place is in the opulent Nob Hill area and is manned by a guard, CCTV, and, arguably, Jesus. Anything can happen, even in a place of God. You could come back to your car "and before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal," (Revelation 4:6). Or the car could be "left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the break-in of the day. (Genesis 32:24). "And he lifted up his face to the broken window, and said, Who is on my side? Who?" (Kings 9:32) Located on Taylor Street, it's $4 every 15 minutes, max $38 (the equivalence to 2 1/2 hrs), with an early bird $12 flat rate before 9am M-F or 11am on Sunday. There's 125 spaces, you don't have to worry about lost tickets because you "check-in" with a credit card, and the arrangement is non-convoluted. No weird spaces where you have to do a 13 point turn to avoid a pole. We had no problems and felt secure, but good luck. Quick take: Am I going to burn in hell? I've contemplated over and over again about giving a church a 2 star review. If I gave this church 5 stars that would also be a sin because I would be lying. This church is absolutely stunning. The stained glass is breathtaking to say the least. The parking garage underneath the church has plenty of parking spots because the parking rates are insane. After circling around the vacinity of the church about 5 times I didn't have anywhere else to park my car. So into the garage I go. Once I got over the parking rates because what can I do about it anyways. I go upstairs to see a digital sign with all the admission fees. Really? Admissions fees like at an amusement park or the movie theatre. Something doesn't seem right about all of this. I understand asking for donations to maintain and upkeep this church isn't cheap. But monitizing every square inch of the church is a bit much. I'm not religious at all so what do I know. read more

This has been my Baby's permanent garage for over a year now. I have a spot I pay $340 a month for. Worth every penny to keep my Baby safe. There had not been any problems in the last 14 months...until today. When I picked her up, she was covered in construction dust. COVERED. I couldn't see out the windshield. I haven't taken her out in over 2 weeks, but no matter. That's typical for me since I don't have to drive to work. I keep Baby immaculately cared for. Ask ANYONE who has EVER seen my car. I've had Baby for over 5 years now; she has NEVER been this dirty. N-E-V-E-R... So...the explanation I got when I approached the exit booth? "We don't know what happened. It was last weekend, and I asked the attendant and he didn't know what happened." Interesting. No one has any idea how pounds of construction dust ended up completely covering my car. Both cars, & the surrounding area around Baby, were fine. But, again, this was over a week ago so there was ample time to clean up. Since I'm a monthly tenant, they have all my info on file. Yet, no phone call, no warning, nothing. Compensation? Ha. I was told "all I can do is give you a water hose so you can rinse it." Are you kidding me? THEN he said he was sorry. I gave him the look that told him I'm OBVIOUSLY not happy, & I drove off. Yes, I bit my tongue. This is, after all, Grace Cathedral. I was not raised that way. But, he did get THE LOOK. Shame on you. Clearly there was work done in the garage, the floor above me, & the transfer dumped all over Baby because she was not covered. Or, am I to believe that a fellow card holder had some sort of "accident" in the garage, & Baby was just parked in the wrong spot at the wrong time? EITHER way, the working attendant that day would have to know what happened. It is only 3 stories, & it's not a big garage. Unacceptable. I had to put my initial plans on ice & drive straight to the car wash (Tower Car Wash, S. Van Ness), with the taste of construction dust in my mouth. It would have been appropriate for the garage to at least have offered to cover the cost. So much for taking care of good clients. One star. read more

The place to park if you're looking to park overnight at Huntington hotel- literally just across the street and had no issues with the staff at this garage. Coming in and out of the garage was a pinch and there were no issues with theft or such. There were plenty of other cars in the garage and the spaces were surprisingly roomy, considering this is in a prime spot in SF. The gem of this garage is if you've parked on the second floor, go to the stairs and the hallway immediately transforms from a gray concrete garage into a nicely-lit, bright and clean hallway that leads straight to the street entrance, plus with disability accessibility. The church stands in all its glory right next door! It's a $33 max which is not bad for an overnight park! read more

Experience: Friendly attendant. Easy to self park, so no valet driver worries. Indoor, underground location, appeared very safe, attendant was there when we came at 12:45 pm and also at 7:00 am when we left. Clean restroom in one of the church outbuildings nearby. On-Line Booking: Prepaid 24 hrs for $29 with an on-line parking booking service I'll call "Parker". The attendant was helpful and reassured us that our voucher from Parker was fine; although he warned us to be extra careful not to lose the entrance ticket or the voucher lest we be charged an extra $66 for two partial days at $33 ea. (in addition to the $29 pre-paid; although we might have been able to get a refund from Parker.) Good warning! We kept good care of ticket and voucher. Location: It was lovely, under some church outbuildings on the same block as the Cathedral. Be warned that it is on the very top of nob hill, and accessible via extremely STEEP STREETS, so at least the first block or two walking out of there is a very sharp descent, and walking back is a real climb. For us the location was perfect. It was about 3 blocks from our hotel on Post St. and 6 blocks from the Curran Theater and we enjoyed the hike. If you have a few extra minutes and have never seen the Cathedral, it is a jewel. Especially the huge brass doors. They are a copy of those designed by Botticelli for the Baptistry of Florence (Battistero di San Giovanni) also known as the "Gates of Paradise". Boticelli's molds for the doors were rediscovered centuries later and before they were destroyed, one new copy was poured for Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. read more

If you are like me, I prefer to park my own car and not having to tip some young man who will burn out my clutch.
