My girlfriend and I went in late afternoon on a Saturday and had a really bad experience. When we came in, the snert soup was on the large blackboard as the soup of the day. We ordered it when we sat down. Twenty minutes or so passed before we asked the waiter if he put in our order. He forgot, so we asked again. He went to the kitchen, but came back to tell us that they didn't have snert today (then why is it on the big blackboard by the bar?). Instead the soup of the day was carrot and lentil. We ordered that along with a walnut, honey, Brie, and roasted paprika salad.
A good while passed before we got our food. The soup came first. It was ok, but nothing special.
Then our salad came and it was the saddest, most pathetic salad we've ever seen. I've included a picture below. FYI we took the picture after we had eaten a quarter.
There were no walnuts, the paprika was uncooked, and the presentation was lazy. You eat out in order to get something better than you can slap together in two minutes, but this was the laziest presentation of any food I've seen anywhere. We complained about the walnuts and the waiter brought us a cup, but that's still not good enough. The worst part was that the salad was €7.50. You can get a better and cheaper version of this salad at Hema.
I understand that this is a brown cafe. However, we only ordered food because they were hyping it up with signs around the bar, the big fancy menu, and the massive month-long daily dinner menu. While we sat there, the regulars showed up. The normal clientele are old people catching up over beers. read more
