When we first had GPS out, they were fantastic. They kept our faulty heating plant going until they could put in the new one. A year after the installation, I called for an annual check up. They said the unit was so efficient it didn't need it the first year. We told them we occasionally smelled a wisp of propane, but they seemed unconcerned. In May of 2018, 2 years after the installation, we called again for a check of our unit, but they said they only did them in the fall, and they would call us to schedule a check in mid to late October. When we'd heard nothing by November 1st, we scheduled an appointment. When the technician did come, he found the pilot tube from the main gas valve was separated from the pilot burner, as if it was never assembled correctly. GPS had to order a replacement pilot burner, and charged us for it, even though it seems obvious the problem was there shortly after installation in 2016. The warranty expired 5 months before. We had tried to schedule service right when we suspected a problem. Now it had to be serviced after the warranty expired. We sent a letter with our payment outlining our disappointment that it took so long to get the unit checked, and, even though they "didn't charge us a second service call fee" to put the new burner unit in, had they checked the unit when we first requested service, we would have been in the warranty period, and we would not have spent nearly two years wondering why we had a propane odor at times. No response from GPS to our letter, but they sure cashed our check. We'll be looking for a different heating service company, and all we asked for was some communication. read more
