Gozleme is a little storefront just up the escalators on the first floor of Marketcity and a little ways from all the ATMS in the corner. But apart from my directions, you'll most likely identify it by the lovely lady smiling at the front counter. She was absolutely lovely and literally made my day. She was talking to an older lady who was making the Gozleme on the marble front bench. This of course gives the hint that everything is made fresh to order, and you know you're in safe hands when you can literally see it being made in front of you. In any case, they were laughing with each other and having a genuinely good time. So it seems to me that Gozleme is a family business and has the genuine feel of one too.
Gozleme is a Turkish flat bread that is cooked on a flat top with minced beef, or spinach and fetta, folded over and sliced. You usually see this kind of thing at the markets so I was excited when I saw this place. The gozleme, as expected, was delicious. The meat was spiced with so many flavours that it must have been a family recipe. At the counter they have a sign that reads 'a smile for a tip'. So go on, and make her day. read more
