The store sign said they didn't close until 8 and we went in around 7:55 as we were 2 minutes away and my baby brother needed milk. My sister and brother ran in to be quick and they locked them in the store and wouldn't let me in. It was 7:56 at this point, why are you locking the doors if you're not closed and why are you locking miners in your store and not letting the adult inside with them? This place and the workers are very sketchy and we will not be going back. Don't recommend bringing your business here either. read more

Great general store if you need to grab a few items while in Govy. Very laid back mountain atmosphere, so don't expect too much as far as customer service but they'll get you in and out fast. Nothing fancy, but they've got the basics covered: soda, liquor, snacks... your normal quick stop fare. For us they've become a go-to first stop in the morning for coffee. They have breakfast sandwiches, cheap but not the greatest. But, they're open before the restaurants and they've got a pretty decent coffee selection, always hot and for cheap...our 2 cups for like $2.50, can't argue with that. read more

Govy General - a snowy street in a town - Grocery Near Me - Government Camp, Oregon

The Four of us drove up to Ski-Bowl area to check out a rental and get an idea of what's in the area. Awesome little strip. Not a lot. Couple restaurants, a brewery and a General Store with a Liquor Selection in the back. Decent prices on the hard stuff. Saved $3.00 in a bottle of Saphire Gin. I really enjoy a good gin martini. Govt General Store has a good selection of a lot of general items you may need as well as gifts to mark your adventures with. My Bro was going to get a cigar from the humidor. Looked like a nice little selection, if your in to cigars. I used to be kicked it out of my life. We got some stuff and with my brown bag of happiness, we made our way back to the car. read more

Govy general is basically a campsite food store, like a convenience store. Don't expect grocery store prices or selection you'd find in a store 15 min away. Nonetheless, Govy won some points on the breakfast sandwiches and coffee today. Reasonably priced. The coffee was bold, with a good finish, Not tart or tangy. They both hit the spot, because our lodging suspended food service because of COVID. read more

A really nice convenience store in Government Camp. I was in a rush, and just went in to buy a bottle of water and Gatorade, but upon looking upon the whole market they had good selection and some fresh fruit, much more than just "vending machine" type-foods at normal markets. And, the staff also seemed really helpful and interactive, making it a fun market to support! read more

Convenient store location but I was checking out and a guy walks in and one of the guys behind the counter starts yelling at the gentleman for not muzzling. The potential customer was still cool and tried to buy a drink bit then the cashier wouldn't sell it to him. So the guy starts to walk out and the cashier is still berated the guy and starts yelling hale satan like a maniac. Great store! They have a little of everything, including hard alcohol! I like to stop in here for fresh deli food, booze, and the gift area, so much to choose from and most the gifts have Mt. Hood or Timberline written on it, makes for great presents. Good hours, parking, and prices. read more

Perfect place to grab snacks for up at the lodge if you don't have any. Very pricy, but that is typical of a place like this. They have some fruits, and veggies, but is not a full out grocery store. It was perfect for what we needed. Water, and snacks. read more

Cool that they have plenty of supplies if you need going up to the mountain but the workers were less than professional. The cashier was too busy talking to his friend to put all my items in the bag including a $10 bag of coffee. Didn't realize it was missing until we got to our cabin. Love this place. It's like an expanded corner store. Not a full on grocery, but close. Some produce, frozen foods, necessities (wood, matches), juices, candy, wine/beer, breakfast, etc. So adorable, accommodating. We ran out of food and walked here from where we were staying, and in a pinch could get every meal we needed (albeit some of it canned or packaged) :) read more

I was pretty impressed with this place - for being the only place around they still have a really great variety of stuff with fresh produce, every staple you can think of, ice cream (really good selection), a liquor store inside and you can even get a roasted chicken and a Slurpie! Not sure why he is the one that had an attitude with me, and says "I can't deal with this" as he walked away, when I politely point out that he overcharged me. Cozy but little grocery store, very clean. You can find almost everything you need, also high-quality brands and organic food (Italian as well!). A wide selection of (European) cheese, Barilla and DelVerde pasta and bucatini, nice liquor store. However, it's a little bit overpriced, but given the location it's definitely a good deal, and perhaps only the option. read more

This place is great, and a cute little shop in downtown Government Camp of Mount Hood. We stopped by on Thanksgiving before eating dinner across the street at Charlie's. The shop is surprisingly larger than it looks with a liquor section in the far back, a small wine section (with local wines!) along the back wall and an odd assortment of food, gifts and sundries. I was able to get some cold drinks (coke, etc), a pint of liquor, bottle of pinot noir, basil white bean hummus and beef jerky. Prices aren't too bad, which is a shock as it's on the mountain and there are limited options. Definitely a place to go if you forgot something or wanted to get a bottle of wine to enjoy in your room. read more

They are pretty decently stocked for a small market. They have a bit of this and that and.... they have a big liquor section in the back! ;) With all kinds of choices! Moonshine? Sure! We stopped by multiple times a day for the four days we were in town. We always found what we were looking for (except fresh salmon, lol, but that wasn't a necessity). Love this little store in the heart of Govy. Lots of choices for those times when you forget to grab something from down the hill. The liquor store in the back has a killer selection, and I think the OLCC must regulate the prices, cause it's not overpriced when it could be. The beer prices are high, but it's in a good spot for a quick beer run if you are staying in Govy. They have lots of quick snacks like doughnuts and chicken strips throughout the day. They recently put in a salad bar, which I haven't tried, but it shows they are a forward thinking business. They sell hunting/fishing licenses, so that's cool. read more

Price gouge city. Stopped in here to pick up some butter and some ice cream for the family. $6 for a small thing of butter, $8 for a tub of ice cream. Same products in real towns are $3 & $4 respectively. Should have gone the 7 miles down the road to the actual grocery store. read more

This little store seemed to have a lot going on for its size -- I was there for a few basics like cream for my coffee and some of those prepackaged danishes ("cheese horns") that are super good and also somehow super bad, all at once. Also I grabbed some Franz glazed chocolate doughnuts, since I felt guilty I was getting the cheese horns basically for myself instead of my family. Anyhow, was pleased to see they had a well-stocked small liquor store to the rear; I didn't buy anything there but just thought, "This could prove useful." One of my anxieties about going to a very small alpine style village in the snows of Mt. Hood in February is a fear that I'll be trapped without hope or amenities. And this store seemed to have enough to potentially sustain me if I got stuck and was in need of, I don't know, stuff to make a passable fresh green salad. The prices weren't inflated (that I could tell, I'm not always one to really note the prices of staples like my Great Depression era-born parents did). In the checkout line, we all got a good-natured communal laugh at the patron who walked in and instantly filled the entire store with the scent of cannabis, including a chuckle from the guy himself, who held up a limp hand and said, "It's me, I admit it." It's the little things that build community, you know? The Franz doughnuts ended up being stale, despite being well within the sell-by date limits, so I had to share my cheese horns. But it was okay, I probably didn't need the entire package when it came down to it, and I could rest easy knowing I could always go slog off into the snow and get more at the Govy General. read more

Liquor store with tons of local options and frequent tastings, delicious prepared food, and the nicest people you could imagine. It's a great little shop. It might not always have everything you need but if they don't they can point you where you can find it. Being the only store closest to Timberline it's great for people living in the area or people who are just camping near the area and want to buy something quick. They also for breakfast and lunch have some great options. So if you are hungry and don't want to cook or go to a restaurant then stop there for something quick and easy on your break. read more

My favorite store in Government Camp. Since I live part-time in Government camp, I do all my shopping here. They have dry goods, meats, canned goods, fresh produce (and actual GOOD produce, even blackberries), liquor, snack foods, and even hot foods, like fried potatos, pizza, and rotisserie chicken. I would give it a zero but its not an option. One of the worst stores we have ever stepped foot in. Not only is the staff rude and disrespectful. They are insulting towards children and have no business being in business. The owner is just as bad if not worse. He should teach his staff how to relate to customers, instead the owner is just as ignorant and has zero tolerance for others. My sons 13th birthday ended with being insulted and yelled at by this owner. PLEASE do not support this man and his store. read more
