Very simple establishment that has all the treats that you want for a sugar rush morning breakfast. My favorite donuts of all time are these ones called Kronos. I hope that's the way to say it. Don't be fooled by the unassuming location and exterior! This is a cute donut shop with a very kind owner and good prices. They have CRONUTS (donut+croissant hybrid). Buttery flaky goodness. The kolaches are yummy! They will warm them up for you. The jumbo ones and either jalapeño or cheese. And the basic glazed is solid, texture almost similar to Krispy Kreme but fluffier and packed with flavor. In general the donuts are on the sweeter side, though, with a generous amount of glaze. SUMMARY: Ahhh this kills me. One thing I've vowed to never do (based on experience) is to share my go-to places because they usually become popular and then I have to wait longer or not get appointments (like 2 of my barbers). BACKGROUND This place is on the way to my work and so I often treat my coworkers to some donuts, which always brings a smile and lifts morning morale. DONUTS - 5/5 Like I mentioned above, the donuts here are great! This is a no-frills kind of place. You're not going to see Voodoo Donuts (Portland) kind of things here with overly decorated nonsense. This is really a purist donut shop and they do it well. I was told by a coworker who knows this shop well told me that the nice Korean American family took this over a few years back and cleaned up the interior and kept the formulas/cooking the same. Anyways, I'll get to the service part a little later. One of the things that keep me coming here is that they seem to focus on keeping the favorites well stocked but they have some ones that always get my attention. My fave here is the maple bacon (5/5). Their regular maple is great too. I've been told by my coworkers that their old fashions are excellent as well. One of my coworkers LOVES lemon filled and after I told him that they have 3 flavors they fill on the spot, he seems to love them more haha. I saw one reviewer say that their Bavarian Creme is excellent, so I'll probably order one of those and see what the feedback is like. 5/5 for taste and freshness. SERVICE - 5/5 The owners are really great people. I see the lady owner more at the counter than the husband. I say hi and bye to them in Korean, so they always appreciate that. But what always strikes me is how polite their staff members are. I always say that the staff is always a reflection of its management, so I assume that the owners are really kind to the staff. This is my favorite place to get donuts. My family loves donuts. It's that go to, nostalgic, breakfast that everyone loves. It's a treat but it's also affordable. Because it's affordable and the donuts here are delicious -I probably come in here 3 or more times a week. The inside of the shop is very clean and so adorably decorated. Coming here is so much more enjoyable than other than the shops, even if you were to just walk in and buy a coffee. That being said I've never bought anything from the shop that I didn't enjoy. The shop has a large variety of specialty donuts, decorative donuts, classic donuts, hot breakfast items, and drinks - I could go on and on. I'm also addicted to their iced coffee here. I really wish they sold it in larger sizes. Some days I buy multiple coffees just because it's so good. Everyone who works here so kind -especially when I bring my niece. Everyone smiles and speaks to her. She loves it! Side note, their decorative donuts for children are always really cute and on point. I moved to Denton 9 months ago and was determined to find a good donut shop. I had tried so many other places around town and none of them had the taste and quality I was looking for. Finally got around to trying this place and my search is over. The kolaches are perfection! So soft and warm with a slight honey taste on the bread. Oh and the cronut was so light and flakey. I've always had blueberry cake donuts but this place had a strawberry cake donut and it's probably my ultimate favorite now. This place is so worth the try. This was my first time here and I wonder if I could classify this as a hidden gem. It's not exactly hidden, but one of those places I pass all the time and realize it's there after I've passed it. They are between My Spicy Treasures and a storage place, just a couple of lots down from Cartwright's Café. My husband was craving some donuts and wanted to show me this place. Apparently he and his coworkers have been taking advantage of this place for some time and he's just been letting me eat the stuff down the street from our house! The place is bright and clean with open spaces inside, which is surprising from the exterior. They only have about 4 tables, but they have the cutest little donut cushions on them. They were actually pretty comfortable! It looks like most people take their orders to go though, we were the only people who ate there during our visit. They have coffee, juice, water and soft drinks. They offer breakfast sandwiches, burritos and biscuits. You have your range of sausage rolls including a jalapeno option and some pastries that looked really good. Donuts consist of the usual offerings though not many places have their donut holes as glazed, chocolate, strawberry and then all those items with sprinkles as well. They only sell their donut holes by the dozen. They had a wider selection of cake donuts which I was glad to see, even though I didn't get a cake donut on my visit, those are my favorite to have with coffee and they even had a red velvet cake donut! Some regular items like sausage rolls and donut holes are more expensive at this location than they are at similar competition. However, since donuts are so cheap, we are talking maybe 10 or 20 cents difference. What was interesting was their 'Fancy' donuts with sprinkles and nuts and whatnot, were cheaper! Frosted donuts were 74 cents and fancy donuts were 89 cents. Other items including the breakfast sandwiches were in line with other places. These donuts were fresh, light and had a wonderfully airy texture. The glaze was some of the best I have ever tasted, the frosting was moist and sweet. The filled donuts were only $1.29 and you had your choice of several types including éclairs. The difference is that they fill it right then and there in front of you. At this point my brain was starting to explode from all the options as sugar stars danced before my eyes... so I can't recall all 3 filling options she told me they had. I went with my old friend, Bavarian Cream! You really can taste the difference in fresh filling, wow! There are no dried out donuts here and the quality was above the competition. I don't really know if I had an expectation as to what a gourmet donut was supposed to be when I saw the sign. Did I think it was about toppings, or maybe stuff like a cronut? I'm not sure. Do you know what a gourmet donut is supposed to be? Maybe it's referring to the quality? That may be, these were definitely a higher quality than what I usually find at a donut shop. I'm always willing to spend a little more for quality, if we're talking 20 cents then I got no issues here! Service was really friendly and helpful. There was only one girl working around 10:30am on a Sunday and she apologized about the wait. Looking back I guess there WAS a ginormous family being indecisive in front of us, but I hadn't noticed because my eyes were taking in all the yummylicious options. She was really nice to us and every other person I saw there. I was wondering how I was barely aware this existed, and knew nothing of how fresh and good they were, and all these people kept coming in, knowing exactly what they wanted without looking around- apparently maple and blueberry are both popular options. I was briefly employed here for two days and Katie, my boss and Valerie my "trainer" was absolutely rude to me and another fellow employee. I was barely trained and then was treated horribly because of it. There are so many cross contaminates. I got in trouble for throwing away sandwich wrappers and bags that fell on the floor because "they are expensive and I don't pay for them". Katie then proceeded to take them out of the trash and use them anyway for the sandwiches and orders. I also accidentally moved a donut with my ungloved hand then immediately threw it out and I got yelled at by Katie. Only for her to move donuts around both days barehanded and she hadn't even washed her hands in like an hour or two quite a lot of the time. I think these are the best donuts in town. I regularly drive past several good donut shops just to get donuts from these guys. The staff is really friendly, too. They open right at five, not 5:10 (like another shop that was minutes away from my old house). Timely opening is important for the night owls who want to end the night with a good donut. They also still have a great selection after 11:00 a.m.! Many donut shops are sold out of the good stuff by 10 a.m., which is really irritating, given that glazed is the staple. In fact, I just bought several glazed today at 11:15 a.m., and they're still delicious. The donuts are soft yet not soggy, and have rich, melt-in-your-mouth glaze (not watered-down like some grocery stores). The buttermilk donuts and jalapeno cheddar sausage croissants are my other favs here. I'm happy to see they have donuts with cinnamon cooked into the glaze. Gourmet Donuts can be the best part of anyone's morning. Their donuts make you go nuts. I live in an apartment complex very close to their shop, and stay up late (until 5am) frequently with friends just to go get their FRESH donuts. Their blueberry donuts are one of their best. They're crunchy with glaze on the outside, and extremely moist and doughy on the inside. They don't go stale very fast at all. They taste like HEAVEN. The people there are one of the best assets of that shop. Me and a few friends went in the other morning and they were so delighted with our business they gave us a free bag of donut holes on the way out. I completely disagree with anyone's poor reviews.
