Full disclosure: I am rife or die with AM Donuts. I don't eat many donuts anymore, but AM holds a special place in my heart and stomach for several reasons. That said, I had occasional to be on the South side today and I had a hankering. That means one place and one place only: Gourmet Donut. As a young man, I thought I could eat infinite amounts of donuts and often tried to do so. Gourmet is perhaps the only place that forces me to tap out. The dough in their raised pastries is so soft and rich; the crust on the fry is so crunchy and well-executed; their icings and toppings are so thick and decadent that I should be done after one. I'm happy but mildly uncomfortable after two. I'm considering how far I can drive while in cardiac arrest midway through number three. And yet it takes every bit of willpower I can muster to save the next bite for "later". I don't know how they do it, especially at such low price points (a coconut cake donut and a maple bar set me back $2.57). Just know that if you need something good in your life; if you need something to put a smile on your face; or if you need to make your cardiologist actually EARN their money for a change, you should really pay Gourmet Donut a visit. Duuuuude..... this place! Their glazed donut holes are THE BEST! I'm sure you are asking yourself; what makes these glazed donuts any different than the next donut shop?!? Well, for me it's not only the immeasurable softness of the bread, but their glaze has a subtle hint of a good quality vanilla, not just sweet. They also have something I have never seen at any other donut shop.... Which are these really tiny cinnamon rolls and apple fritters, they are literally the size of the donut holes! Unfortunately had to stop by this location this morning instead of the one in Norman. Very disappointed. My go to donut is chocolate covered with peanuts on top. The woman said they only had maple left (8:30 am) and when I kept looking around for a second option, she went to the back to mash some peanuts on a soggy donut and threw it in a bag, getting chocolate everywhere. She shoved it in my hand without saying a word and told the guy the ring it up before she walked off. I had take it out of the chocolate covered bag to let it cool off, and once I took a bite realized it was basically dough. Won't be returning to this location anytime soon. read more

This used to be a really great donut shop back in 2015/ 2016. Now they just don't care. CONS: no Pine Cones, No Bear Claws. NO GOOD DONUT SELECTION PAST 9:30am!! I mean I can see not having the first two (seems only Certain Donut shops understand the reasons behind having the first two), but stopping making donuts after 9:30am?!? Who does that if you are open until noon?!? Last Saturday when I went there were no cake donuts, no maple bars, no cinnamon twists, just glazed, sprinkled, and iced glazed. And they don't give out donut holes anymore either!! Thank God we now have more donut choices in this town (Hurts downtown, new Dunkin Donuts, heck even Winco has donuts now!)...skip this shop because it seems this shop skipped caring about serving customers. read more

Absolutely delicious donuts made fresh!! We made a quick stop in while in OKC and were very pleased with options and especially service. She was patient with my son who was very excited about all the options. We enjoyed it so much that we made it a point to go back before leaving. I was introduced to this Donut Shop by my daughter- in- law and grand children. Yep. I am from another state(Texas) and I will tell you now these donuts are absolutely incredible. I have had donuts from all over several states and these are by far the best. Long Johns are really long and the donuts seem so fresh and flavor-able. On a Ten scale, they rate a 10 for sure and beat all others hands down. read more

Updated review: I'm so sad to have to update my review! The whole reason we used to absolutely love this donut shop was because of the amazing strawberry donuts, but it looks like they are unable to make them the way they used to :( I will say this, I put in a special order for them to try to make them the way they used to be, and they really did try. I put my order in to pick them up on Saturday between seven and eight, and when I called, they were ready to go. The owners of the shop were very nice and explained that it's because they had to switch the oil, and that is why the donuts are different than they used to be. I think it's very impressive that they tried! The original glazed are still, to me, the best in the city, so we will be back. I just probably won't make extra special trips, because those were reserved for just the strawberry ;) Original review: Seems a little silly reviewing something as trivial as a donut shop, but these were some dang good donuts, and I just feel selfish not sharing it! I think this is hands down my new favorite donut shop in OKC. Such a kind family that owns and operates the place. Every time that I go in I feel so welcomed. The donuts are amazing the sausage rolls are excellent and the coffee has a very nostalgic taste to me but I've never found anywhere else. So, went to this Donut shop for the first time this morning. Thru the DT. Lady was fine and polite at the time. But she did something no baker or chef would ever do. Microwaved a freshly back pig in the blanket to oblivion and than gave it to me. It shrank, was rubbery, and smelled and tasted like burnt microwave. So I turn around park and go inside. I ask for a non microwaved pig in the blanket. This kid is helping me. All the while in a language I couldnt understand this lady is angrily talking shit about me or too me. Thats not very business savvy or professional. I bet you would sell a lot more food if you threw away the microwave. And not talk shit to people. For politely asking you to fix your mistake. You have lost a customer you never had. read more
